    Backstage with millionaires: Paints a minimalist Tesla Semi truck like a traditional Indian TATA truck

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  Před 3 lety +24

      😂 I couldn't resist Biplab! After hitchhiking across India back in 2017, I have some weird connection with these goods carriers. I got a lift from a few of them, and also got passed by probably hundreds while I was sticking my hand out waiting, all with their own unique horn sounds, painted letters, hanging tassels, etc. and so when I started making this thumbnail about Indian logistics, I was trying to imagine what an Indian Tesla Semi would look like if it was driven by a typical Indian truck driver. -Caleb

They have certainly brought huge relief to a lot of families. Let's see how far they go!

It definitely is great to see the progress that is being made in the logistics space, not only from a customer perspective, but also from a truck driver perspective. I have travelled with truck drivers in India as well as Canada in order to save money and for adventure, and the difference in quality of life is huge. I really hope that with these innovative startups taking steps towards improving the quality of life for these truck drivers, someday truck driving in India will be thought of as a humane, respectable, and safe profession, the way that it is in some other countries.

      Hi guys, this is Varun from Backstage with Millionaires. You are right, we missed Ekart Logistics. While all the startups mentioned in the video started to offer their services to other companies right from the beginning, Ekart only started to offer it's services to other customers only in 2016. The company doesn't seem to give out much data in terms of their business, so we were a little hesitant to include them on the list. However, they have been handling Flipkart's logistics since 2009. So you guys are right, they do deserve a mention. Will try to be more comprehensive in the future.

    No-one in India has introduced the concept of towing trailers of pickup trucks , u will only see trailers for semi trucks only......

    India genuinely needs to improve the infrastructure both road and rail.. The average distance travelled by a truck in India is about 330 kms.. Which is well short of 600+ kms in developed countries..

    • @sujith3914
      @sujith3914 Před 3 lety

      Exactly my thoughts, the startups are doing their job, infra development will boost it even further. And I am glad that it is already happening, the core of the plan is expressways, bypasses, ring roads, new and improved highways, port modernization, dedicated freight corridors of rail. Do check out some channels that provide info on these aspects, I have been following them for a few months now and it is amazing what is happening already and what is planned too. The initial phases of all these are around 2024-25, if they complete in time, let’s say max 2026 because the progress has been good enough. It would be amazing to compare in 2026.

      Hi Pankaj, my knowledge is actually quite limited. I only know about startups from listening to entrepreneurs/VCs talk about them. I've never started up myself, and I didn't study business, economics, or anything like that. Most of the things I know about starting up and entrepreneurship come from building this CZcams channel over the course of the last two years.
      However, if you have any questions you want to ask about entrepreneurship, do tune in tonight at 8 p.m. for Prithvi's livestream, he'll be answering questions about starting up and entrepreneurship there (and unlike me, he is an expert on startups and entrepreneurship). If you want to connect with me, we'll be doing a livestream when we hit 100k where we'll be answering questions together. Also, you can @mention me on our Discord server - I'd be open to doing a live voice chat in one of our voice channels over there if you can get a few people together who are interested! -Caleb

    Being in logistic business I must say all this is just useless startup. I own fleet of 80 trucks and dealing with such startups is no less then headache so its better for us to deal with middle man as they always have better deals for us with good payment condition. Maybe good with those dealing in ecommerce cargo but for those dealing in bulk cargo and containers please be clear with terms and conditions they offer you.

    • @backstagewithmillionaires

      Oh, this is interesting to know, Calm & Strong. I think both Rivigo and BlackBuck are the ones that provide a marketplace for truck logistics provider. Have you tried their services and if you have then how was your experience? As they do claim that they offer better options through their marketplace model.

      Hey Atif Zia, I think in a ways it's a good thing that you can see that your idea is already validated. I feel like it's more about the execution than the idea itself. Sure, Rivigo has a lot more money than you but that shouldn't really discourage you from working towards your idea. We wouldn't have any new startups if people were worried about competition. Also, I am sure, you can find a new problem to solve as well, there it's never a dearth of problems. 🙂

      Hi Shashank, thanks for bringing these guys to my attention! It definitely looks like a promising company, and the fact that they've been around now for about 5-6 years means that they've survived for longer than 90% of startups. I just hope that the $73 million that they've raised will be enough to get them through the COVID-19 pandemic, as the logistics space is suffering right now due to a significant decrease in volume. But with 60+ shippers on their platform, I think they'll survive 🙂. -Caleb
