I love the bass line in this song...There isn't much I don't like in Fugazi Land. But this bass line in particular...peculiar melody that haunts..very nice.
    Thank you Fugazi.

Joe Lolly was the man. Would barely move and crank out such groovy/weird/fitting parts. One of the great bass players of the 90’s

it dont really matter at all. The only thing that matters to me is that Fugazi made some outstanding music over the years and should be a role model for every "band" out there. They're not my favorite band but they're the band i admire the most. I just cant say a bad word about their music and attitude. Hope they can influence some other people too, specially to create a social awareness that we people of the world and our governments seem to lack.

Hands down my favorite Fugazi song, ever since the first time a close friend played it for me. Decades ago now. Still listen to, watch and play the bass line on my parts Stingray for the regular (at least 2x a week). He had no idea (and how could he?) that day how staple of a part in my life this song would become. I didn't even play bass at that time . . . .

The problem with the term emo is today it's used to like classify a style of music like fall out boy or panic at the disco. like nandric says it's just about confessing your emotions and stuff. It's like when we say a band is prog rock, usually meaning lots of guitar effects, spacey sound. but really prog rock means progressive in that it pushes the boundaries of music bringing new ideas to the table.

@morfcode It is interesting when you consider how different the punk music world was when Fugazi started as a band(1987). They were viewed as this new fusion of funk, go go, punk and post-punk. Yeah, such a great band. So much of early to mid- nineties post hardcore owes a huge debt to them.

    the whole genre discussion here
I understand what you people mean, but I'm a student (music manager)and the fact is people need genres , people need to know what a band sounds like cause otherwise they won't buy it and genres are very important in the music business (promoters,... they all want to know what you play)if there weren't any genres and someone would come up to me with a lady gaga album and say it's just "good" music i would buy it (now I don't)
btw there are indeed to many genres

Yes it is. Strangely, I still don't know how did that modern emo movement (trend ?) start to call itself emo. I remember Fugazi, Rites of Spring being called indie, post-hardcore - and 'emo' was mostly the word describing the stage acts style. I stayed with hc and thrash, but bands like Fugazi will always bring back the best memories. Someone explain please - how come do present 'emos' look like goths sometimes ? Does it connects somehow nowadays ?

I've been following Fugazi for the 15 years or so. I think their music is brilliant. The thing that makes me laugh is that they're so anti stage diving etc (maturity I guess). Have you seen the early Minor Threat footage. Pure Carnage!!!!
