  • Demo of how the silent walk-test feature on a Simplex fire alarm panel works and logs test data. This is a good feature to use when not trying to cause a disturbance in the facility your working in. For this video I'm using a 4010ES panel.

    Love the 2903 plates with 2901-9833 behind them.

    The Simplex 4010ES would make a good direct replacement for a Simplex 4020. But it looks like this 4010ES was replacing a Simplex 2001 or 4002...

    Are they light or strobe plates?

    Soon it will be summer vacation and you can let the alarms ring all you want for inspections. :P XD ;)

    I see this panel more of a Simplex 4020 replacement then a 4010 replacement.

    Panel got upgraded due to newer NFPA requirements over the years?

    • @safetech
      @safetech  Před 8 lety

      No NFPA doesn't hold requirements on panel type/age. This panel likley replaced an older one that broke or was added at some point following renovations.

      +SAFETECH I was meaning for stuff like dialers, elevayor recall, HVAC shutdown.... stuff in that catagory.

    • @safetech

      +WheelockElevator Those things like the FACP are for the most part grandfathered in. They only need to be replaced when they break or during some major overhaul to a system.

    • @safetech
      @safetech  Před 8 lety

      All modern simplex panels do this. Older units like the 4001 or 4002 have walk-test however for it to be silent you must disconnect the signal circuits.

      How do you determine what type of test is done at said time of year for example are silent tests done during the summer whereas full bell tests, or quick tests are done during fall, spring, winter?

    • @cnrailfan8000
      @cnrailfan8000 Před 8 lety +1

      +Gary Beltz they r usually during the day when people r there which is the point of a silent test so it doesn't disturb people

    • @safetech
      @safetech  Před 8 lety

      +Gary Beltz It depends. NFPA requires all signals be tested annually. For as long as I get all signals tested once in that year the system is in compliance. All other devices can be tested without signals activated.
