I've been watching you for years. My girlfriend just started fishing and I was watching her this past weekend tie a jig on her own the first time thinking she's going to do it wrong but nope. I asked her on the way home where she learned to tie that knot and she showed me your channel. You've taught her how to sight the water, tie knots and pull crappie left and right. We both love you man.
As good Honest man, who is sharing his years of experience, to help any and all . God bless him and his family ! Thank you , our friend
All the men in my family watch you Richard Gene. We spread from MI to TX and we all fish together. You are like another cousin to us.
I learn more from this channel than all the other fishing channels combined
Richard Gene you’re Master of all the freshwater fishes.
You are a legend Richard , i fish all year round here in East Tennessee and I’ve learned so much watching your videos throughout the years . Thank you for all of the knowledge that you share with us , you are the man!
Appreciate all you share. Have used it to become a better pond(Texas "tank") fisherman. Hope to meet you one day. God Bless you and "Mama" Sue.
The absolute GOAT of finesse fishing!
You are an inspiration to fisherman all over. Thanks!
You make it seem so simple. The knots and tackle weights are a bit complicated and intimidating as I wouldn't know where to start.. I always enjoy tagging along with ya via videos!
been watching you for last 4 years just want to thank you for the great video's and all the education you helped me with. Really enjoy you when Mama Sue goes with you great to see that she keeps you in line lol
Nicely done master fisherman 😊
Richard you never disappoint ! you're the only fisherman on CZcams i follow , appreciate all you have taught me !
Some nice crappie Richard! Yes the creeks around guntersville are loaded right now!! LIVE FOR THE THUMP MY FRIEND!!
Richard, thankyou for always showing the products you use. Holding them up so they can be clearly seen. It's so frustrating watching other people's videos and then being left trying to guess what exact bait they are using. Your the best!! You have made me a better fisherman. God bless .
PURE AWESOMENESS RICHARD AS ALWAYS 💯💯❤️❤️❤️ GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻WE LOVE YOU RICHARD!!!
RGFM, I have been a fan for years now.
You are my favorite CZcams fisherman.
I'm from central Illinois and have learned
a lot from your videos, you are a blessing.
Thanks for all that you do😀
My dad and I used to slay the crappies with a little "Mr. Twister" jig and 1-1/2" tail (white and yellow were best) rigged on a bobber, 12-18" deep and retrieved very slowly. It was even better if there was a little "chop" on the water. Very similar to what you are using.
That was an epic fishing trip. Well done.
Thanks Gene, for another Great video, on how to catch these Spec's, as we call them here in South Ga. & North Fl. You give fisherman enough tips even if they have never fished for these guys, to be able to go out and have a chance to catch a mess. Thanks!
My favorite fish to fish for is by far and away crappie. Take care Brother!
God Bless you and yours!
I fish central Arkansas, mostly lakes and creeks. When the crappie bite is slow for me, I’ll use the exact same baits as Mr. Richard , I usually get more strikes just depends on our weather. If the weather is close to the same here as in the Tennessee valley…it’s on!
Thank you Richard Gene!! You are a fishing machine!!!
-Arkansas Garrett
@@mikewest712 yes I have and caught some guddens out there too! Crappie, bream and catfish!
@@thehikingbird249 biggest bass and crappie I have every caught has been on the cadron. Seems like October - December are best.
@@mikewest712 You bet! Those are absolutely the best times of year around here and congratulations on your PB Bass out there!
Gene lets the fish go in a way that won't damage them in any way...true respect for fish !!!
Man I watch every thing you do and I still have a hard time catching fish but I enjoy watching you catch fish.
Great fishing trip. Great knowledge sharing. Great honesty. Great man. Great channel. Great entertaining. Great man of God. Thanks for taking us along. God bless you and yours
Richard, I agree with you about the baits. One of the most common name brand of crappie baits is getting worse and worse. They're so tender that you can only catch a couple fish on them before they're falling apart. I live pretty close to you, and we have a family owned bait company on the next mountain over. I hope you'll give them a shot. They're Bounty Hunter baits. They work great and are really durable.
We used to fish below Pickwick Dam using the sassy shad pearl white in color. We were fishing for white bass. During Feb.- early April even in dirty flood water the fishing was FANTASTIC. From dam to 4 miles down river🎣. Lots of logs,
Rocks and tree limbs. Throw the1/4 oz. lead head on the 3 “ grub head and hang on.🥰
Richard: I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but it's a first for me. A couple of weeks ago we had a few days of warmer weather and I caught my first crappie of 2023. A day or two later, I caught a few more, but the really interesting thing was that one of the fish hit really close to shore near a fallen tree. What happened during that bite was incredible. As I said, it was a first for me. That fish hit and RAN all at once, but not just a foot or two run. It hit and within 2 to 3 seconds was about 25 to 30 feet away!!! At first I thought it was a bluegill , but it was too heavy, so I thought it might be a bass. it blew my mind when I realized it was a crappie. It weighed about 3/4 lb. but it fought like a redfish! Two days ago, it happened again in a different location on the same body of water. The most recent one hit and ran and just continued to fight like no crappie I've ever caught before. Run after run after run of 5 - 10 ft each time. I've fished for over 50 years, and in all my days, I've never had a crappie run and continue to strip line run after run like those two fish. Oh yea, it was FUUUUNNN! 😃🤩🤩🤩
Fishing machine almost doesn’t do you justice Richard cause you is dang good. I’m talking bout Whoo Whoo!!!!
I scouted a pond with my kids today after watching some of your recent videos. We only caught algae, but they both wanted to fish in the cold with me.
Thanks for the inspiration.

I've been subscribed for a long time now. I would love to have the opportunity to go fishing with this man one day!
As always, love to watch your videos ole son! Keep em coming
I bought them a few weeks ago and first spot i fished on KY lake was a 3 lbs 12oz largemouth bass and then a few small ones. Got into a school of yellow bass and wore them out on that z man. A few days ago i found the crappie and loaded the boat. Got my limit-20 on KY lake and threw back between 30-40 small crappie. The color that I found that was HOT was the FIRETREUSE. Caught only a few on other colors, Using a 3/32 oz head which worked perfectly. RG give the Firetreuse a try!!
Love your stuff! Second to none! The name of the reel you like is pronounced Fwaygo but I call it the same as you do now lol! Keep up the great videos!

Hey Richard got a reply that I have been selected to a winners list wants me to call a phone number. Just feels like a scam??? Just want to know from you please sir
MAN YOU FISH SOME GORGEOUS PLACES, LOOKS WILD AND PRISTINE GOD'S COUNTRY!!!
Awesome thanks again and God Bless 🙏
That Rod looks like the bomb the way it brings them in the boat I gotta get me a Duckett crappie slayer
The Shad FryZ pearl and bumblebee have caught me a ton of fish. Started fishing them the day they were released and will be fishing them a ton in 2023. If you like to catch everything that swims like I do, then they're amazing. Just a small bit of Loctite super GEL between the bait and jig head and you can catch a ton of fish on one single bait.
Thanks for the great video, Richard Gene! Say hi to Elmo for me!
thats a crappie killer set up i love it😬
Thank you for the video
I watch all episodes!! Whooooo
Keep up the good work brother
WoW! Some really nice crappie. I am with you on working different depths on good crappie structure. Instead of running and gunning all over the river, just sit on the structure that you have confidence in. Work the various depths on that cover and you’ll find them. Or try changing colors while staying on that spot until you find one that they want. Thanks for your videos. God bless y’all. - Tennessee Smoky
Great job.I wish you could make a video on the way you cook your fish !!.
Leonard P
