You are right; you are not supposed to cut meat on a wooden cutting board. Blood or juices from the meat can seep into the grains of the wood, and you can't really clean it well. Bacteria can start to grow and you can get sick. Have one cutting board for fruits and vegetables, and keep a separate cutting board for your meats.
