    Man I love that you thought of left handed people!! Designs always neglect us

    I have seen the videos of people making filament from bottles but as yet have not tried myself, I never even considered using it as cordage, it is extremley versatile! Im looking forward to seeing your approach to filament production!

    11:21 One minor note is that, if made into FDM Filament and Printed, or If you Melt/Press it Down Into a Block (Like what “Precious Plastic” did with those “disposable” plastic bags) it may be recyclable again. (At least from a size point of view, dirt/wear from use, thermal degradation from the process, and the ability of places to recognize non-standard plastic items may vary this as well)

      Small Scale Recycling, Either via 3D Printing Cordage or Regrind Based Filament, or via full on “Precious Plastic” machines at a Makerspace is going to be better in most cases for plastic since many places sadly don’t recycle it well, and it gets turned into a trading shell game etc.
      All in all though, as long as it isn’t littered, it will stay in some sort of central waste disposal, which even if it is a landfill (which i hate) still keeps it out of the environment at least.

    I love the custom cable wrap idea!

      Absolutely!!! Gotta be OCD about cable organization!!!....especially when you *don't* have a "Fox & Hound" and you've gotta visually trace!!!😁👍

    Maybe a future braiding/rope making machine, eh? Have a swivelling/raising soldering iron mount for splicing in the next lengths, could be fun to automate the "film splicing". Rainy day ideas. Handy handle, thanks!

      @ericlotze7724 Před rokem +3

      I never thought of the splicing aspect! One of those tools (potentially with the same mechanism as the recent tapping jig) would also be of use for those “rope dispensers” they have at places like “West Marine” and “Home Depot” (or my personal idea of a “Materials Vending Machine” for makerspaces) that thermally cut a certain length of rope for you!

    • @Rebar77_real
      @Rebar77_real Před rokem +1

      For rope metering and cutting they should use something like a large scale filament changer. Feed all the different ropes/lines into a central cutter/metering gauge. That wouldn't be impossible and they could store the spools in the rafters to save floorspace for other products, lol.
      A vending machine for picking your rope's colours and materials then have it braid it up in your chosen style while you go get a coffee... now that would be super cool, if not a nightmare to keep reliable, lol. (I saw a 3d printed thread-braider the other day, anything is possible!).

      @@Rebar77_real that fits into my concept of the materials vending machine really well! I haven’t thought about rope and all that too much yet myself.

    It'd be nice if you could use the blade on it to prepare the bottle so you wouldn't need the scissors.
