      In Australia, It's illegal in most if not all states to have exposed pointed parts on a wing, can cause serious damage if it got hit buy it. Unless you drive a race car, most times race cars are for track and not road legal anyway there is no reason to have such a exposed stupid wing.

      Give him a warning? Everyone with a licence knows the rules. He either couldn't be bothered learning them or knew it wasn't road worth and drove it anyway. They pick more on younger guys because we are well over represented in road incidents and put others at risk far more then anyone else

They should just introduce a 1-2 yearly vehicle inspection like in europe (and i dont mean the nsw easy to pass roadworthy, i mean a proper inspection). and then these cars all would get pulled off the road. thats the price you pay to drive as fast as you want.

    I used to have respect for cops , but the the way I was treated and then fined $700 for riding a scooter, when the actual rules stated that it's a $78 dollar fine , most cops were bullied at school and became the bully .

      If they have charged you more than the maximum, you can appeal it. But ultimately, the police don't decide the fine amount. They only enforce the law. Also, punctuation goes immediately after the word. E.g., "word, word", not "word , word."

But i mean..... this is an adult supervising a learner who should not be learning to drive in a performance sedan to start with. No L plates (I think P plates are a retarded concept. You are either a qualified driver or you are not) which is a huge problem and the supervisor should have at least been aware of that. and what the hell is going on with that license plate? It is a obviously non road legal car and she tries to teach someone how to drive. Tbh imho they should just get rid of supervised L cars - they should all go to driving school rather than pick up bad habits from mum and dad.

      @@kingprone7846 100% agree about going to proper place to learn. We just have an issue with adults in Australia not being able to grow up and take responsibility for shit. People can complain about the so called "revenue raising" all they want but at the end of the day we all know the rules and have the responsibility to follow them. You can't get fined if you do the right things. The streets aren't a private race track. I'm in my mid 20's and drive an ssv and yet I have never been pulled over or fined. So I don't see why people play the victim when it's not that hard to drive safely

    Yeah, the guy was ripped off on that. When I was younger, the cops would still be firm but if you respected them like this guy did then they would give you a break. Often they'd say something like "Go home right now, we know where you live, and you've got a day or two to correct those issues." They'd check up on you that day and a couple of days later and if you blew your chance then they'd go ballistic and literally give you a "bad day".

      I've been teaching some mates how to drive and a learner driver can not be trusted just yet. I'm sick of these learner drivers who think they can drive when they definitely can't. There's a reason why they make you do 120 hours of learning first. Just my opinion though.

They are plastic with rounded edges and will probably break off if you hit them with much force. That aftermarket POS has sharp edges, its fixed to the boot lid with metal risers and has sharp side plates.
      Its not designed for street use."

      @@mousab9 No its not. The A45s spoiler is completely fine and would pass an inspection in europe. This kids spoiler does not. The a45s has a rounded plastic spoiler which is secured with glue and small screws. It will detach when it hits something. His spoiler is chuncky with side wings bolted in and then drilled into the booth which will not detach upon impact. Nevermind that its metallish and thin and wont spread the impact force. It's a testament to the poor Australian driver training that you cannot see this.

    i've watched a fair few videos of people being fatally hit by cars and if they are hit at high speed the body is either knocked to the side and outwards, or sometimes into the windshield and off to the side or under the car. I never once seen someone go over the entire length of the car and be "chopped up" by the rear spoiler, it's complete nonsense to fine someone for that being a danger. Even if in the 1:1000 000 chance that ever happened, a person being hit at the speed required to knock them over the complete length of a car would have been instantly killed when they were hit by the front of the car away.

      the drug tests are quite inaccurate and I hope they are modified nowadays to have a very high cutoff - otherwise you pick up people who have done some MDMA a week ago or smoked cannabis a few weeks ago. Like it would be inappropriate. Australia has a 0 tolerance for drug tests (which isn't right), so the drug test may have a very high cutoff as a roadside test to not incriminate someone who kissed someone with a bit of LSD on their lips lol.

    What croc, damage number is not illegal, he just hand them in for replacement, as for wing they cant do jack, exhaust would have be tested plus SA police can't give him defect notice because he's from NSW.

    I agree that the rear spoiler certainly doesn't do the car any justice but I thought the young fellow was quite respectable and pleasant towards the Highway patrol throughout the whole event. They could have just issued him with a warning. I would have. 😊

    Ok numberplate damage and missing front l plate fair enough but I find it unfair another state can defect for cosmetic things like tint or the wing causelaws vary state to state for vehicle modifications
    If he hit a pedestrian hard enough that they went over the car and hit the wing they'd be dead already and the wing would probably break away anyway

      wing is dangerous and it’s pretty well established that it can be a cause for a defect. They were harsh and I think it was somewhat fair but they could’ve been generous with these easy fixes if they wanted to

      Im pretty sure that wing is actually legal in NSW. I remember reading something somewhere you can have a wing/spoiler if it doesn't extend pass the shape of the sides of the car, so basically it has to be shorter than the width of the car. So that if your driving past someone and you barely miss them with the side of your car they dont get hooked on the wing.
      I think this guy knows that too cause otherwise he prolly would have gotten a bigger wing otherwise and not such an uncomfortably small one.

    spoiler makes it safer actually. the cop is dumb. the spoiler can stop a person from rolling off the boot of the car and back onto the road if the person gets hit from the front. id rather have the spoiler hit my body rather than cracking my head on the road. injury to the body can be healed but not head injury

      Have a look at factory wings and spoilers. They are plastic with rounded edges and will probably break off if you hit them with much force. That aftermarket POS has sharp edges, its fixed to the boot lid with metal risers and has sharp side plates.
      Its not designed for street use.

The manufacturers of those wings even say they arent for street use simply because they have never been put through any testing for any design rules. What if it detatches on the freeway and a motorcyclist hits it? I know someone who was killed exactly like that and i dont like seeing shit cars when im out riding.
      Back when i had my skyline i thought that garbage was cool, though never put it on mine. few years later i grew up. Dont want to deal with it? Dont put dumb shit on your car.

      @@haydenpostans6328 dumb comparison. Bullbars are subject to design regulations and unlike a shitty wing poorly bolted to a boot lid, they have actual purpose and are usually mounted on a different class of vehicle, hence allowance can be made.
      Having said that you would be amazed how many people chucking accessories on immediately make their 4wd illegal just be exceeding the weight limit.
      Btw hitting a pedestrian is not the only reason why those wings are not allowed.

    Not sure if it has changed but a learners permit is not a licence
    As long as you pay a fine your good to go , no points on a learners permit
    Back in the day bike riders over 30 would stay on a learners permit, you could ride a large sport bike and never lose your licence or points just get fines

      technically its the plates first. there is no fine for defect notice, unless you fail to get the canary fixed within 28 days. and also, dont know about vic, but in nsw i see cars with fart cans everywhere and huge ass GT wings yet they dont get in trouble

    When I was at university, they had a wind tunnel and were testing cars for drag. Guess what - spoilers do nothing unless you are going so fast, you break the highest allowed speed in Australia - 110 km/hr. All they really do is reduce the value of the car.

    I'm sorry but a $1019 fine is pathetic. Yes that wing is dumb and hideous, but that's just extortionate. The guy was reasonable, polite and passed drink/drug tests. Catch him a break Jesus Christ. If it was a $100 fine then fair enough, I just can't get over the cost. For a missing L plate and a "faulty number plate" whatever that means, it's NUTS. If the plate is still readable, then they well and truly f'ed this guy over.
    I just watched one where a guy got defected for two bald tyres and got fined $173, now tell me how that works. It's not about safety at all.

    You can really tell cops don’t know what they are talking about when it comes to cars. “Bazooka”. Mate it’s a fuckin cannon, and the fine for that spoiler is beyond a joke. Poor bloke was just tryna tuck in to a nice feed of kfc and gets done for a spoiler that they reckon is more than 100% going to kill someone. No drugs, no drinks, come on. Should of got let off with a warning.

      those aftermarket exhausts can be done tastefully. I was cycling my usual route the other day when some commodore with a huge exhaust came by. wasn't really loud but had a really nice pleasant drone and stutter behind it. Was actually kinda soothing to listen to.

    Well what i do know, is that there are adr standards for rear wings, as long as its within those standards it doesnt matter what the cops say. I had a aftermarket rear wing, similar to hes but mine was a duel wing and they tried to tell me i couldnt have it, quoted the adr standard and that shut em up

    This happened to me once too , out of the blue , breathe and drug tested , I was respectable like this young fella , then the cop busted me cause I had my fog lights on lol ... Didn't even realise it cause I probably spun the light dial to much , said I could blind someone ... Was like , ok officer , at that time it cost me 120$ 😛
