    Watched one of these burn up on a site adjacent to where I was working years ago. Bad hydraulic leak that got to the turbos. They couldn’t extinguish it. It was renamed the”Hibachi”.

    I got more intimate than I really wanted with one of these big girls back in the early 2000s...steam cleaning..and it was a pm job which meant spotless..it came from the great state of Pennsylvania and had 15 or 20hrs on her...which it was probably a 3500?? We had 3 or 4 trucks on it and used a 988b for the higher parts of the boom..some interesting grease I remember tastin on it...special blend..of black molly if I recall..lol. as nasty as it was...I miss being up on the strip 18 to 20hrs cuttin up with them ol codgers

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety +1

      Hmm, I only know of one 3500 that worked in Pennsylvania and that was the machine the operator was killed on in west PA.

    • @arborist460
      @arborist460 Před 7 lety

      Back then it was Appalachian fuels who bought it if I recall...that's awful...do you know what happened...if I may ask?

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety +1

      Might have been a different machine, or possibly the same one if it was later sold to River Hill. Yes, the one relief valve on the shovel boom blew apart and shot through the cab window hitting the operator in the temple and instantly killing him. This one incident actually made Hitachi do a mandatory repair to all EX1800 and EX3500 front shovels operating in North America.

      Man that's awful...one of these days I'm coming to visit my uncle Sam in Pa..and I'll have to try to look you up..several generations in my family have all been raised directly from coal,or some derivative thereof and I'm a nut for all the machines that's made this place what it is....my favorite mine n machine channel for several years now and nobody comes close to your knowledge and delivery of it on here justin..keep it up I'll be here to the end

    Its i beast Looks like she took a hit near the ladder wounder what was big enough to damage it that high up

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety

      Working in tight areas. Most likely hit the side of a highwall at some point.

  • @lewiemcneely9143
    @lewiemcneely9143 Před 7 lety

    Where have you been? Must be working too much. That 3600 is a bear and 1/2. Sweet rig but I'd have to have oxygen to be up that high. Good video as usual, Pal! A-PLUS!

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety +1

      PAmining I kile all your stuff BUT the smaller crowd jack is a bucket leveler to backfeed the curl to keep the bucket where you set it while digging and raising. The 1200 is the same way at the local boulder hole.

  • @The_blindpizzaguy1300
    @The_blindpizzaguy1300 Před 7 lety

    Also what was that machine that was idling in the background as you were doing the video?

  • @markstengel7680
    @markstengel7680 Před 5 lety

    Thats a lot more weight than a Cat D11T at 230,000 lbs. Humongous🚜👍

  • @RMosher11
    @RMosher11 Před 7 lety

    Just out of pure curiousity; how much do one of these machines cost? I can't even hazard a guess.

    • @kade290488
      @kade290488 Před 4 lety

      Mining spec here in Australia would be around 6/8 million AUD

  • @Megashovelman
    @Megashovelman Před 7 lety

    The cab for the operator looks like it has plenty of room.

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety

      Yes the Hitachi's have a spacious cab design. In my opinion however, I think other manufactures have a better ergonomic layout

  • @georgekeller7553
    @georgekeller7553 Před 7 lety

    Must have come from Bill Miller Equipment..

    • @PAmining

    Did you pronounce Hitachi differently from other videos? I think you pronounced it HETACHI earlier or am I wrong here?

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety +1

      I've heard some people say HI-tachi and some say HE-tachi. Both ways are so close so to me, it doesn't really matter.

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  Před 7 lety

      She's not that bad at all, trust me I've seen way worse in newer equipment!
