  • Welcome back to another BFT video!! We had a chance to do Monday morning ride. We drove to Astoria, Queens and then rode our bikes into the city by using Queensboro Bridge. People often mention this bridge as dangerous. Please watch and see if it is really bad as people say! Also we stopped at some of the fun spots in Manhattan!
    Brompton we used: T-Line and Superlight

    Thanks so much. As a former New Yorker that's too afraid to venture into the city these days it's nice to see a street view video of yours. Keep the videos coming!

      There is a learning curve to riding in the city. Group rides are great for a starting point if you have time. I hope one day there will be a better bike infrustructure where kids can ride their own bikes in the city instead of being on the parents bike only.

    Only lube I get on well with on the Brompton is Muc-off C3 ceramic dry. It doesn't last well in wet conditions however. Muc-off wet I've found attracts a lot of dirt and then the derailer stops working on my Brompton 6 speed. Also tried Squirt wax which worked well in dry and partially wet conditions but bits of the wax would flake off - not great when storing the bike indoors. I'm guilty of not wiping the chain after applying but only use any lube sparingly on the rollers only, one drop each one.

    • @BromptonFamilyTime
      @BromptonFamilyTime  Před rokem +3

      Wow we are on the same page! I recently switched to the wax lube. The regular Muc was horrible. And I also used the Muc-Off C3 Ceramic but it needed to be applied often. The wax is so much cleaner and the gears are nice and quiet. I will continue testing it but so far it has been working out nice!

  • @finncarlbomholtsrensen1188

    I have just ordered a new Garmin Explore, showing a map when riding, and a, little longer, black titanium seat post for my Lightweight (I'm too tall for the standard length 535 mm I have for a test for now. And they may be bought from China in intermediate length versions). And I still want to be able to put it directly in my, German, black B&W transport box for a Brompton, as a travelling man, so hopefully I'm still able to do it, without having to take my "folding bike" apart! If so, all bikes are "folding bikes", if they need to be taken apart.
    But the "horns". I have seen from "Chrisbybike" in Brazil, that they seems to fold around the wheel, so I suppose that yours do also when the bike is folded? Finn. Denmark 😄

    Great video. In process myself of choosing a Brompton in England..... Went to Brompton Junction in Covent Garden London last week, to experience both the mid and high handlebar options. Probably going to get a Bumblebee Yellow C Line Explore 6 speed High handlebar type..... Fun colour with summer coming. Particularly like your video as I love New York and it reminds me of my great time there.... the Brompton connection is of course really interesting and nice to see. Best wishes from UK.

    Decades ago, I grew up in Queens. I’ve bicycled in New York, mostly in Queens, a fair bit in Manhattan. I was actually surprised at how mellow the ride through Manhattan was, mostly calm & agreeable, and almost all on bike paths! Wow! My beloved New York City.

    Amazing. Your (series of) videos are super helpful for me to learn more about the bike. Im thinking between new t line (have an invite to purchase for 2023 order) or electrified p line. Until the t line, i was really looking to purchase electrified version last year. Live in LA now and primarily ride for general commute and occasional fun ride in certain hilly terrain. I know electrified version and t line is completely different species but i would appreciate any general advise, insights, thoughts….
    I tried electrified demo bike and it was surprisingly fun, and felt that i probably can speed it. I never had a chance to see the t line not sure how fast/versatile it is…

    • @BromptonFamilyTime
      @BromptonFamilyTime  Před rokem +2

      I don't have any experience with any electric bike. If I had a choice between a T Line and P Electric, the T Line would be my choice. You can always add an electric kit later if you need once for commuting. I love my T Line and there are not many other folding bikes that can compare to it imho.
