Kaivalya Kumar Gurav is a leading Kirana gharana vocalist. His family have long been immersed in the tradition - Ganapatrao Gurav, his grandfather, was a disciple of the gharana’s founder Abdul Karim Khan. Kaivalya’s extensive training led to him becoming one of the youngest singers to receive a top grading from All India Radio and Doordarshan (the national TV channel). He also sings bhajans and Marathi music.
Recorded at Darbar Festival in 2015, on location in India:
-Kaivalya Kumar (khayal vocal)
-Prashant Pandav (tabla)
-Suyog Kundalkar (harmonium)
-Charudas Damle (tanpura)
-Aditya Joshi (tanpura)

Some mimickry of Pandit Ganpatrao Gurav seen in Pandit Ji's gayaki. Such control is rarely seen these days. Truly a formidable exponent of Kirana Gharana. It is as if he can manipulate time with Raagas. I felt such with Ustad Abdul Karim Khan's gayaki and now his. Truly spellbounded.
Maybe influence would be a better word than mimicry in this concert ?
