- The Best Method To Concealed Carry
What is the most comfortable and efficient way I've found to carry my EDC pistol? This may be an option that you are not as familiar with.
The pack is a Hill People Gear Belt Pack.
we have no affiliation with them, just a good product we want you to know about.

This is a transition I made recently. At least for when the inside the waistband isn’t convenient. This is really comfortable. Hardest part is getting over wearing a fanny pack.
Once you've lived through enough life, conquered enough problems, and assumed enough Responsibilities, you will truly no longer give a fvck about what anyone else thinks.

1) Nutnfancy has been vindicated! Fanny pack FTW!
2) Trying to get your thumb INTO the orange loop to pull while not looking is the limiting factor. If you were to add a pull (like a small plastic ball) then your hands would find it faster and not have to go in the loop. Just a thought.
Monkeyfist
Maybe a portable hand sanitizer bottle on the zipper or some hello kitty cell phone charms, lol
You could try a carabiner attached to the zipper perhaps.
I actually own one and carry almost every day. When you prep the zippers, you really dont even need to pull. You can just push on the front of the pack and it unzips. Much more foolproof.
Monkey Fist FTW!
"You'll know me...I don't wear pants ever." Words to live by. Lol
I've been using a belly band for nearly a month now. Once I got used to it, it gave me a better peace of mind that I can still have access to my CCW while I'm running or cycling. I did an 11-mile run with it this past weekend and all of my equipment was secure and had no distractions whatsoever.
Godspeed!
Not saying what you should or shouldn't do, I would just say, do so safely. Also, check out the phlster enigma
@@Patchaddictedpolymath As long as you have a pocket holster or trigger guard for your firearm I don't see why fanny pack or pouch carry would be any more dangerous than IWB.
@@Patchaddictedpolymath facts!
A belly band was my first holster and a philster enigma paired with a philster holster is my rig.
Belly band weaknesses:
-little trigger protection
-usually elastic, stretches over time
-reholstering is impossible
The enigma pairs with your AIWB to fix all those issues
@@tommaj5657 I started with a belly band; it's comfortable, but it was impractical to wear with any shirt that needed tucking.
Have you tried actually drawing while you're running?
I was in law enforcement for 35 years, 32 of which was plain clothes. In the 90’s, when we all dropped the suits, we started using fanny pack holsters in the summer. Fanny packs were in then, when fashions changed, you could always tell who the cops were by the fanny packs. Same as with the Banana Republic vests. I now use a backpack with a concealed carry compartment and can also have my carbine with me, although it’s awkward carrying a backpack everywhere. I just found my old fanny packs and you know, for certain situations (wearing shorts) it’s a great option! Thanks for this, BTW checked out Hill people. Bottom line, CC is a pain in the ass, but I’d rather have it and not need it, than not have it and need it! 🙏💪👍
I pocket carry a 7 shot 22 mag snubby and it’s airweight. They make clothes for EDC- jeans especially with big pockets are great.
wearing a fanny pack is now widely known as you have a gun. i wouldn't do it. same with those sling fanny packs on the chest. i see drug mules walking with them a lot. more common is a backpack, but a backpack is much more common in general.
That may be true where you live, but in cities like LA, Miami, or anywhere where fashion is a big deal including most tourist traps on earth, fanny packs are extremely common. If you were to walk the shops on south beach, you'd be lucky to find 50% of dude not wearing one, though they almost always wear them over the shoulder. You can even watch Ted Lasso and see, all the English always have one on them- the younger guys at least. @@Janzer_

Hill people gear is some good stuff. I bought my father a chest rig for Christmas and that's how he carries his edc. He has problems ambulating so he is confined to a chair a lot of the time. It's perfect for him to get that gear up off of the belt line and into his workspace. Thanks for all your great content and keep up the good work
No place on the body is a person's "workspace". Unless the chest rig suspends the gun in the air in front of him, then it's just called the chest.
@@vitogriffin8902 then it just gets his stuff up off of his belt line and on to his chest. 👋
Chadd really is one of those awesome ‘hill’ peoples!
Been concealing "mine" in a fanny pack for the past few yrs. When you sit down its easy to slide to the side without it "pinchin" your waist. It doesn't freak ppl out and its great to put spare magazine clips in as well.....
I still prefer iwb carry for everyday carry but this is a great option for when I'm running, biking or anytime I'm wearing an elastic waistband. Thanks again brother.
Now the question is safety or no safety??
My uncle is a LEO, he used to wear a Fanny pack pretty much everywhere and we’d make fun of him for it. Until I learned what was in the pack…..
Bro nobody cares about astrology
Lol
Perfect demonstration of the seal’s motto; “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast”. Never thought that drawing from a fanny pack could produce anything under 5 seconds.
I always kept my Beretta in a fanny pack in Colombia South America, works very well on a motorcycle.
Good info, I think it's also a great platform to begin with. When I bike or walk I don't want anything weighing down my shorts. I usually carry a crossbody sling and/or backpack so I can bring my book, water, snack, basic first aid items, camera and light soft armor. So depending on your need for what your doing, your fanny pack can be very useful. The tourniquet attached is a good idea too.
Great info. I've been rocking my HPG medium belt back like this for about a year and it's the most livable way to ccw. Even for being in a vehicle it's super quick to draw and go to work. 10/10 would recommend this and Hill people gear products.
Many years ago, I had a fanny pack where the concealed compartment was attached by Velcro. That way, all you had to do was grab the front part of the bag and pull it down to get access to the firearm. You could probably speed up your draw and eliminate the time that it takes to grab your orange loops, by adding Velcro on the inside of that back pouch and eliminating the zipper pulls. My bag also had a "rain flap" that covered the opening so you couldn't tell that there was another compartment back there. You could add something like that to cover up the zipper, or even remove it, if you added the Velcro. Also, I absolutely love Hill People Gear's gear. I use one of their chest rigs all the time and keep my backup weapon in it.
Ive looked all over for something with a velcro or magnetic opening and can only find zippers. Might have to try and make one myself
Can you remember what the brand was that made it?
Galco Fanny pack
Great point with a rain flap. Also recommend cutting off the hill people gear logo
Another similar option is a small cross-chest "messenger" style tactical bag. Lots of non-CCL folks are using them, especially in urban settings, so they blend in fine and can offer people different placement options and essentially become a chest rig. Plus you can keep them in that position for driving. A few companies are making ones specifically with a dedicated holster pocket (including the trigger guard or a similar system).
@@ilong5545 Great suggestion and excellent example of what I am talking about! Thanks!
In Europe helikon tex has lots of these different bags in usa probably 5.11
I'm considering that option. Great suggestion.
@@fitness403 You're welcome! Let us know what you end up getting. Mind you, it's just one facet of carrying that may have limited application depending on your activities and where you live. But if it helps fill a gap, and makes carrying more comfortable and efficient in those situations, win!
"Lots of non-CCL folks are using them" - "folks", yeah for sure, i see drug mules using them all the time. i wouldn't exactly call them folks though.
Natural, original and effective. Not like everyone else sponsoring all the fancy things that won’t help. Thanks for sharing!
Pretty cool setup. Situational awareness is much more important than draw time anyway
100%
Agreed, Travis Haley's story about shooting the guy who had a gun pointed at him shows how accurate that statement is.
this is how I carry, too, with a different bag, but same concept. Good low viz carry for public events. The other option I found for EDC when we are in must wear shorts weather... is one of the elastic belly wrap holsters. Trouble is that causes you to sweat alot. I think this fanny pack or small over the shoulder sling bag is the way to go. Sure it costs a couple seconds, but this way you for sure will carry every summer day, since your wallet, knife, gun, tourniquet etc are all in one same bag, every day.
I use a similar set up for running, hiking and hunting, but it is a chest kit bag. ONE MODIFICATION SUGGESTION I would highly recommend to you is a LARGE pull tab attached to a small paracord loop sewn into the corner of the front cover. So instead of trying to use fine motor skills to loop your thumb through the zipper pulls, there is a large webbing tab to grab at the corner that guarantees a swift, solid pull every time. You would set up your zippers the same way, leaving a little opening at the corner. Thank you for your service. God bless you and yours.
also add a few bricks so it doesn`t flop up and down when running from a bear attack.
Swap the loops for a paracord lanyard....no need to get thumbs through...or not as in last drill...just grab and go, never need to look for it.
If you're a "running shorts" person, you need to try the Enigma holster by Phlster. No belt needed.
Was just thinking that
You spoke well of your sea daddy. His lessons remain clearly placed in capable hands. I am an old cold war guy that can relate in ways as you said, unless someone has walked through it will never understand it. Even if you were never in the teams , I gained enormous respect for you just seeing that little segment of your video. Best wishes to you and your endeavors. Thanks for your service.
I have an osprey sling pack I bolted a holster into and have enjoyed it. Doesn’t look tactical and I can carry all the basics talked about in the video.
You need something bigger to pull on, see if you can get a vertx pull tab like they have on their sling bags. In a stressful situation fine motor function goes out the window so you need something that you can effectively use with gross motor function. I love my vertx sling bag when I’m not carrying appendix.
I use my fanny pack by 5.11 Select Carry Pistol Pouch Style # 58604 while exercising, and a holster is not a viable option. I can wear it around my waist or cross sling it over the shoulder! Instead, onto my stomach or side of my body because I'm hunched downwards to the bike's handlebar while riding. It's not perfect and may not be the best pouch for you, but it has worked for my G27 for about seven years while doing something active. I think most people will either love it or hate it. Thanks for the video.
Bowie knife ■ 24/7 exposed in VA; the carry belt doubles as a reasonable whipping buckle, sleeping must be an orchestrated turn, with a clip holding keys gives access to many ways out
Used to wear one, transitioned to IWB and cargo shorts. Not much for running anymore, anyway, so it works for me. My oddity is carrying at 6 o'clock to avoid the jelly roll interference with appendix (I'm almost 60) and the difficulty of concealment at 3-5 o'clock. Requires practice, but so does every other option.
I carried a fanny pack for years before it was legal, Smith model 65 ss revolver .357. DA. The pack is slow but better than no gun. My cousin said "i bet I can grab that gun before you can" and I said watch out for the knife.
Before it was legal? Was there a jurisdiction where carrying in a fanny pack was illegal but not concealed carry in general?
I really enjoy your videos. I used a fanny pack last year on vacation. For years I raced mountain races up here in Alaska. I had a 511 fanny pack with a Smith & Wesson 44 mag. It was the Alaska Backpacker 2.
I had room for 1 speed loader. Packing for moose and or bear encounters. The 44 would only fit into the pack upside down. I got rid of that S&W 44. I only carry Ruger wheel guns now.
I’m always running shorts or sweatpants and use a belly band/retention based holster and EDC fanny pack. Cozy Boyz Inc.
Agree with you, have been carrying this way for about 30 years, 20 as a cop. The waistband carry got really old. Since Tommys packs is out of business I decided to try the Galco fanny pack............turned out to be the best Ive ever carried. The belt to the pack actually stretches and is made of strong neophrene I believe, but is ultra comforatble. Pull the zipper and pack opens up to weapon fully secured by a small holster that actually tilts up so the weapon can be easily drawn. With the other packs and if carrying a stricker fired handgun I would never carry with one in the chamber, with with this pack the weapon trigger area is fully enclosed. Its not cheap but i bought two, a large one for my HK 45C and a smaller one for my G26, You might want to check this pack out, believe you will fall in love with it as I did
I wish I could do the fan pack but I have a crap bag on my left side those medical body modifications have a draw back, I wear my OWB alien gear holster at the 3o clock
I’m in a suit almost every night of my life so I needed an option that didn’t weigh my trousers down or show clips on my belt.
I carry a 43x in a Tier 1 Xiphos V2 with a Comfort Concealment belt.
The belt is “sticky” and it adheres to my clothes but doesn’t weigh anything down. I run in this same setup as well.
Thank you for comfort concealment belt recommendation. I just purchased. Prior I wore the belly band, for one trip in gym clothes, never again. Been suffering with a belt and shorts ever since

@@PastorChris44 I’m a medium and it’s a hot item and on back order. Hope to let you know this month when it gets fulfilled. In case anyone didn’t pick up, the belly band SUCKS. And I have a 32” waste so it ain’t cause I have a gut.
@@PastorChris44 hey brother. Got it, few days now wore it and so far I’m a fan. Gets my gun just a little higher, able to sit more comfortably, and most important I’ve been able to go out in gym shorts.
Wonderful! I believe it’s a wonderful option! I’ve had mine for over a year it’s still working great.
Thanks Chadd, I carried in a fanny pack when delivering pizza 20 years ago. This is the first pack I like as well as the one I had that is discontinued now. Peace ✝️
You could try some heat shrink tubing around your pull loop 550. It would help keep the loops more ridgid and open for easier thumb access. Just an idea. Stay safe.
its ok for temporary use (jogging) not for all day use. fanny packs are a double-edged sword they provide easy access to your weapon but also attract attention. Anyone remembers purse snatching days.
Good idea, even you don't wear running shorts. I'm no fan of concealed in or out of the waist band holsters. Why don't you carry your Glock? God Bless you and yours.
Id practice moving backwards and to a side (as if there were a building or structure to one side) and towards cover.
Bought a chest rig from Hill People years ago to hold water and various items for running. Good quality gear at a good price. Great to see them getting some love.
Its one of the most expensive brands but high quality
When I lived in L.A., California, I worked for myself out in the field and ALWAYS wore a fanny pack with a 380 in it. It was for my firearm ONLY. One zipper pull from right to left and pull it out with my right hand.
I didn't need a trigger guard cause there was nothing in it to interfere with my trigger. I figure my time would be around 1.5 to 2 seconds. Thanx for the video my Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
Uncle Mike's made some decent pistol specific fanny packs back in the day, in small to large sizes. The pistol/revolver compartment was rip strip velcro.
Been pocket carrying a Glock G45 with a + 3 extension (21 rounds total) and a Holosun red dot in 5.11 pants for several years.
Am I the first person to bring up the phlster enigma? I can conceal a Glock 19 while wearing running shorts and a tank top. It completely divorces your holster/firearm from whatever pants/shorts you are wearing. It’s definitely worth checking out as another option.
I can't live without my enigma. Most definetely the best option so far.
When my father used to carry 20 years ago Leonard goes to your belt loop is somebody tries grabbing the fanny pack you can pull the lantern retrieve it got to set up for what's comfortable for you
I've been backpacking for years and I've never carried a weapon. Mostly because I would never use it and it would be more weight. But my biggest problem has been consealment of the pistol. I really don't want to open carry around other hikers. I feel that it just sends the wrong message. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Excellent solution right here.
Definitely carry out in the world. May need to defend one of those hikers if not yourself.
@@MrMann-gt1ehas long as he does not hurt anybody's feelings first and foremost
Consider this… For light clothes or deep concealment I have a “tactical” (thick and quick release) nylon web belt that I hang my holster and extra mag pouch (neoprene with magnet) inside the belt with front abdomen carry with my Hellcat. This rig is independent of whatever you pull over it including pants or shorts without a belt. For this situation I generally use my normal Kydex holster with a tether cord over the red dot, but for more comfort if doing something more athletic I sometimes use a comfy-neoprene holster with snap retention loop.
Bless you and thanks for sharing as you do.
The only thing I see that is questionable here, is the amount of sweeping your doing across your weak side hand and arm with a hot weapon in a high stress situation.
Props on all the videos. They are greatly appreciated
I also had the same concern. My fix was open fanny pack with the support hand, grasp weapon with the dominate hand, move support hand to chest, draw weapon and begin to drive the weapon toward the threat; last, the support hand moves to catch up. Orientating the Hellcat downward might also be a solution. Any thoughts about the need for two hands to access the weapon? One hand keeping the threat at bay could make single-handed weapon retrieval difficult from a fanny pack. I have considered purchasing a fanny pack/rue/cross-body bag or whatever the younger generation is calling them today. The acronym KISS ones to mind. Great thought and great video.
I carry a Walther Creed for my CCL and it has no safety, so I have the added step of having to chamber a round on the way up.
We all have different needs and preferences, and I think this is a good example of finding something reasonable and repeatable that works for you and then drilling it until it's both smooth and fast. I think your standard of two seconds seems achievable and well within an acceptable standard for carry, so I look forward to the update on your progress with it! Your accuracy certainly isn't an issue (no surprise given your background)! Love your videos, man!
I love this guy but I am sorry off body carry is not a great idea for EDC. I get he likes elastic band shorts but it is better to sacrifice in your preferred clothing method than off body carry. I respect his opinions but I can’t agree on this one. Granted there are special exceptions to every rule but they should only be utilized when you have to not because they are a more comfortable option.
Both of u have good points I thinks it's really just more about the situation
@@jessebarnett4205 I see a fanny pack as much less of an off body carry than a backpack or CC purse. As long as you arent loading the thing up to storm Kabul, it is designed to stay on the body and remain comfortable all day. Sure, there is a single clip/buckle holding it to the body, but most are designed that is it right above one of the front pockets of the pants, and mostly covered by a slack arm.

I carry my 43X under my hat. Nobody has a clue either… and since my head is shaved, a piece of tape keeps it from siding around up there. The tape is just strong enough to keep the gun from falling off my head, while light enough for quick removal. The whole setup works perfectly. And the chicks dig it…
I like the shoulder bag the most. Has great access. Thanks Chadd for all the help. God Bless
I do too ✔️. I live in a hot, humid climate. 🌡 I carry pistols, spare mags in a 5.11 PuSH 🎒. Sometimes, not often I add a O light 🔦 . Night hours 🌃.
Make you're orange indicator tabs single strand so you don't have to hook your thumbs inside. Save you some time to just grab the tabs and pull. 👌
I have been experimenting with this almost exact set up. I am trying adhesive Velcro to the grip to keep consistent orientation in the pack. Thank you sir, God bless
I'm very thankful for this video. I hate wearing pants I'm always in shorts. I live in FL and the last thing I will wear is jeans. So I've been in this predicament for a while now. I also can't stand having a lot of things in my pockets.
Thanks Chadd for your service and this channel. From New Jerkistan (NJ) finally getting chance at CCW. I live at beach and wear board shorts a lot. This is an awesome and very discrete option. God bless brother.
Lmfao "New Jerkistan" I hear you bro, I'm in The Peoples Republic of New York.
How the hell can you get concealed carry in nj?
Been using fanny pack method for over 30 years. I have had nosey people ask "what's in there?" First aid kit is my reply. Glock 21sf fits well. S&W 357 fits very nicely. Ruger MK2 is good fit as well.
Great pointers on trigger guard and draw.
Nobody's business what's in your bag as it is not your business what's in their pockets!
I always act mildly annoyed at the question.
I most often just say it is my POSSIBLES bag and it had everything in might possibliy need during my day and change the subject.
That's only if I know the person in some way.
Otherwise I calmly say with a smile that I usually just mind my own business and that I suggest the same to others.
I wear running shorts a lot and the only thing I can carry in them is a credit card and car key. Never considered this option thanks.
Thank you for your service I enjoy all your comment amen. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🥰
Good option IF and only if you practice with it. I truly believe you should have a sub 2 sec to an accurate first shot no matter how you carry. There are also some drawbacks to this method. One being it’s hard to do a surreptitious draw. Also, its very easily taken from you in a robbery. So keep that in mind… but having different carry options is always a good thing. Practice, Practice, Practice!
My friend, every option is a good option if and only if you practice with it. Even someone open carrying in a belt holster is likely to fumble their draw in a life threatening situation if they don't practice it.
You know Chadd is a SEAL right? Not shitting on you bro but random armchair advice is probably not needed at this level.
I rarely wear belts, so I carry in a man bag (don't pull my card, it's leather and has a bull on it). I can produce it quickly and if necessary, fire it from concealment. I thought I was nuts til this video, thanks Chad. 👍 I shoulda watched to the end; getting that trigger guard.
I’m in shorts or running pants most of the time. Discovered the Ulti Clip a couple years ago.
All my holsters now have the Ulti Clip. No issues, just need to make sure the waist drawstring is tight. No sag and it’s secure
That’s cool until the draw string pops when you need it or it just pops while you’re walking and your gun drops. You could however replace the draw string with para cord.
Fanny packs are awesome. I hate having a bunch of crap bouncing around in my pockets when trying to move fast.
I have been watching your videos for several weeks now, good stuff. What’s funny is that I have been shopping on line and at stores for a good hip pack to use when my son and I go out on our mountain bikes. Currently I have been keeping it holstered inside the pack I have, not efficient to draw thus the shopping. Thanks for the input, expert opinions mean something.
Try tying a monkey fist onto one of those orange pieces, just make sure it's small enough to fit through the other loop. Then when you reach down you have a large round knot to grab onto so you don't have to look at it or feel around. Should shave a good chunk of time off.
No offense to Chadd, but back in the late 80's early 90's I used a fanny pack to carry my 9mm, BUT, I dont like this pack not having the holster inside the pack w/o the trigger guard! I DONT like the weapon floating around in the pack! Love you Brother.
Chadd, a way to speed this way up, and probably make it easier and more consistent...would be to take your orange cord loops, and cut those off...tie in a couple of 'snake knots' in your orange 550....that will make them easier and more 'foolproof' to get ahold of. It will give them more 'traction' for your hands to grab...and you won't have to slip your thumb into the holes. I bet you will cut your speed almost in half.
Yup, I like 4 tight/close together snake knots into a small monkey fist. Very easy to grab and pull also looks cool.
@@sog305 you could also use the loops made by Maxpedition...the big ones. They are always forced open and have a rubber piece around them....really nice.
It takes a real man to keep referring to fanny pack by it's proper name without blinking in the process :D Carry on...
I have one of these (snubby), instead of the orange pull tab method you have going you can also put a finger/thumb directly into the ccw compartment and rip it open. For me, easier for my fingers to find that opening vs threading them through the loops on the main compartment. Great content as always Chad
Try thunderwear holsters. I've been using them since my navy days (long ago) and I run with it and carry a full size IWI masada.
You should consider Velcro-ing the orange loops together. A bigger target and stiffer yet still easily separable.
Sorry, but in my country, Mexico, a fanny pack is almost as obvious as open carry if you have the "the look", you know what I mean.
I have been using sling bads for 30yrs. Over the shoulder works well as a shoulder rig.GREAT CARRY GEAR
John from Active Self Protection would be having a heart attack at this carry method.
Try just grabbing the corner of the pack and pull down. Should be faster if it works.
I like using a fanny pack from L.A.P. gear been using it for three years. I wear often with my bersa thunder plus, tourniquet, gauze and wallet, and my knock off Nextel phone "sonim flip phone" It works for me!
Great information.
When I was running in ultramarathons and long trail runs I chose not to carry a gun. Only because I really couldn’t find anything that I could hold on my waist like that without it bouncing around going up and down the trails. I did however carry a knife. Fast forward 10 years I now have a 3 L camel pack that I am able to carry one if need be, but it’s not practical to draw from. I’m not able to run any longer unfortunately so I hike and just carry on my hip with a cover garment
I have a few different carry methods and one of the most comfortable is IWB belly band. I can wear that with gym shorts, pjs, etc easy. I give that a high recommendation if you’ve not tried it.
question for Chad..... when you first "came back" did dogs stay away from you???...... dogs wouldn't come near me for a couple years....
Picked one of these packs up and it’s been great. 10/10 craftsmanship quality. The only drawback is the bag is an immediate target for armed robberies. I’ll still prefer IWB when in enclosed areas such as gas stations, convenience stores, etc where a criminal might catch you by surprise.
You have convinced me to give the fanny pack a try for concealed carry.
Thank you for everything, America salutes you and all troops
Great concept. I don’t carry, but I would like to make a suggestion on your cord pulls. I would be more comfortable pulling the cord with balls attached instead of loops. Just a suggestion and thank you for your service
i spend most days in board shorts and flip flops...M638 with 2 speed strips in my fanny pack.and 5 shot at 5 yards in 5 seconds is my drill....thanks for the video...
You could speed this up considerably by replacing the orange cord with something more rigid that would stay in a loop formation. Off the cuff I’m thinking you could cut to length and feed a piece of clothes hanger through the center of the paracord and bend it to shape. That way you could work with the same shape every time and know what to expect. Absolutely love your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Bright colored zip ties
When I use a fanny pack method I have a red carabiner which is real easy to grab.
I live in warm climate and 85% of the time i'm wearing shorts .I use a gray 5.11 shoulder bag. It's similar to your bag. It can also be worn like a fanny pack but I use it as over the shoulder bag. I use a carbon fiber holster that i put some 3M loop on the backside of the holster and installed the holster to the inside of the 5.11 velcro on inside of bag. I wear bag sometimes on my right front hip or in front near crotch area it's very adjustable and can be worn in so many different positions. It's got double zipper pulls, zippers that can be opened left or right. Extra storage compartments, I carry my keys, my iphone, ipods, i.d. cards and such. In Pistol pocket I carry 2 xtra mags and a small 300lm LED tactical flashlight. I carry my SPYDERCO flip knife with the knife clip in my right pants pocket. Super fast draw, and access to pistol is great because i wear the bag below my waist line near my crotch which would be just like an inside waistband draw, but maybe even a tad lower. So instead of having to lift my shirt to draw just simply unzip top of the bag and reach in and grab pistol. I also like the fact that the bag is super easy to take off and on depending on the situation. Also has room for 2 full sized rifle mags.

Awesome pack! Awesome video! Instead of 550 for pulltabs maybe something stiffer. The wide zip ties being more rigid may help pull the bag open easier. Possibly a small carabiner attached to both 550 cords would be faster as well. Just a thought
I’ve found it works better to keep 2 or 3 fingers width of space between the zippers in the rear compartment (zippers oriented like you have them)- that way you can slot your fingers between them and pull hard, just like you’re doing. That way you’re not trying to grab a hold of two things pieces of 550 that are twisting and turning around. This is on a chest rig, but HPG actually shows this method on their site. Not sure if the ergonomic is the same when the pack is in your waist.
I love HPG. I actually go running with the Stubby chest rig. It’s very small and hugs the body well. I prefer my items up a little more than the Fanny pack. I do own two HPG Fanny packs as well and love them.
Some small magnets somehow attached to the ends of the orange cables would ensure that the loops are always aligned correctly when needing to draw. But easily able to pull the cables apart when needing to get your wallet or something. Cause some time walking would be making those cables bounce around and may cause precious seconds of delay when you need it out immediately.
i love how 3-4 days after you made this video they sold out in every color.
I knew a guy that used the fannypack method, personally I pocket carry a little 9mm in my right pocket, extra mag in left pocket
I too utilize the fanny pack by Black Rifle Coffee Company and agree its an awesome way to carry when in gym shorts! Thanks for the content.
nothing screams i have a gun more than a black rifle coffee fanny pack lol
@@Jacob-zv7xw as soon as Folgers makes one…I’ll change! Lol
What type of gun belt do you recommend on the range and what are the most important items to have on the gun belt?
Tuuuuns of room in it man! That sold it!!!! I'm buying a hill people fanny!
Back in the 90s, I carried a Glock 23 in a fanny pack. I always liked it better than IWB. Here lately, AIWB is the new hotness. It’s better than 4 o’clock IWB for me, but it’s not as comfortable as the pack was.
Sweet rig!! I love Hill People Gear stuff. I personally went with the small Vanquest fanny. In charcoal grey it's pretty low profile. Gen 3 Glock 27 with a stick mag thrown in for good measure. The hardest part for me has been working my vehicle seat belt with my fanny pack on. I feel that it takes some getting used to...
I have to laugh, cause I agree 200 %, I don't see "everyday carrying" around the kitchen sink for every possible bla bla. Just the basics and where ever you go the truck is not that far away, so keep it simple.
I only wear long pants for weddings and funerals, and starting to come around to the idea of a waist pack.
Thanks for some set-up ideas.
Also,🇺🇸 Happy Constitution Day!🇺🇸
I just received my Eberlestock Bando Bag. Not as big but 1/2 the cost and has Velcro options in the back. I’m 💯 satisfied with it
I appreciate your lack of pride to adapt to your circumstances, as unorthodox as your adaptations may be!
