i'm not understanding WHY there is bullying in the doll community. as a matter of fact, i'm surprised that there is. i'm new to the doll community, so i haven't experienced the dark side yet. come to think of it, a new Barbie collecting friend of mine had warned me that the community can be very catty. so disappointing. I've been insulted by girls on CZcams tutorials more than three times younger than me, just because they perceive that I'm an adult. And I'm collecting the same American Girl dolls, loving the same accessories, and feeling equally sad when a favorite is retired! It isn't fair or right. Doll collecting can be a fascinating and happy pastime for anyone.
pennypay1 sadly, there are teens, kids and other adults that are Bullies in the doll collecting world. We control whom we invite to be a part of our lives.
👍 Used to be a huge Barbie collector until the magazines went away and I lost interest after having over 200 dolls. As an adult I lack good storage space so I stopped collecting. Family also didn’t seem to understand so I decided not to care because my mom let my niece play with a bunch of them. She made clear that since I’m moved out they aren’t really mine. Put them in boxes without asking so the curio is in an unused bedroom empty 🤷♀️ Turned into a hassle because they aren’t organized now. I used to be extremely organized with them. The only 3 that I really care about are the Becky’s. I had 2 Ag dolls as a child. With the closure of Toys R Us my husband brought home a newer one for me. He doesn’t seem annoyed that the AG collection is on our dresser. He helps me hide them when my family visits. I’m 36 now so they act like I am too old. I’ve also made and repaired a few custom dolls. I don’t think the AG collection will grow like my other dolls but I’m glad that my husband doesn’t seem to care. He even helped me switch out an eBay find Molly with my original one that was mine so my mom wouldn’t notice it went home with me. Don’t mind my niece playing that way. She’s not really old enough for them yet. I was very meticulous about my AG dolls growing up. I like having the small collection in my own home that I purchased myself. It feels more earned. Husband feels I could have way worse hobbies. He doesn’t let me go overboard spending wise.
