    I actually recently got into instant film at the beginning of pandemic (as a hobby) I first started by shooting on my instax wide 210 which I got for my 10th birthday. (It was a bit dusty.) I bought some new film for it and I ended up really enjoying it. I then bought the mini 90 for more creative features and also really enjoyed it. I have always wanted an actual Polaroid for some time now, and the new now + coming out is the perfect excuse to get into it. This video actually convinced me to get it. I love the high-production value content.

    Hello again, Ben! Sorry again for not seeing your videos lately, been busy with school lately.
    But one thing I can definitely say is: Finally, they solved the problem that has itched me with Polaroid's newer cameras for so long-the rainbow strip is back to be flowing down at the bottom. Another slightly weird nitpick to have but it still saddens me that there's no "classic" option (black bottom/lower frame, white top) but it's all good nontheless. But all-in-all this is a great review as always! Love ya!

    Awesome video Ben!!! The Polaroid now+ is B4B (😁). I own a Onestep+ which is an amazing camera (well to me, a least) but I might go for the Now+ just beacuse of the autofocus, I kinda miss that on the Onestep+. The filters look like an interesting creative opportunity.
    Keep up the good work man, love the vids.

  • @DeeSnow97
    @DeeSnow97 Před 2 lety +8

    Frickin awesome. Wonder if they finally fixed the ranging delay, or that's still a thing on this camera, but otherwise it's hella slick. Absolutely didn't expect the "ttl" light meter, that's a great addition.
    Also, putting my wishlist here for the Polaroid spy: idk what you got in mind for the onestep 4 or whatever you're calling it but please give us a sonar (or just something equally fast at ranging) and on-camera buttons for aperture, shutter, shooting modes (aperture priority, shutter priority, program, manual), and exposure compensation (at least 1.5 stops both ways in half stop increments). A clamshell design would also be kinda sick, but this one isn't half bad at the looks department either.

    Amazing introduction and summary to the newly announced Polaroid Now+. Can't believe you have a video about this new model 2 hours I got an email from Polaroid about this new product. I was about to search for info and this video of yours just showed up on my CZcams front page! How amazing!
    I do not have any Polaroid camera that is made by Polaroid Original (now just Polaroid) as I am using my Polaroid 690 and Fujifilm Instax 500AF only. Now this Polaroid Now+ is getting more interesting... Still not sure if I would buy this one yet.

    Awesome as always, Ben! One thing I noticed in the tech specs is: the Now+ lenses now have 40 cm and 1.3 m minimum focusing distances, whereas the Now had 55 cm and 60 cm, essentially making the autofocus a gimmick, in my opinion. I guess this means Polaroid is more confident in the autofocus mechanism, and you can get closer for portrait shots

    • @michaelpetersenfilm
      @michaelpetersenfilm Před rokem +1

      It's not a gimmick, it's two zone autofocus. Zone one 0,4-1,3m (95mm), Zone two 1,0m-infinity (102mm). So right, you can now go even closer than with the old NOW camera. Not as great as the old 660/670AF and Imulse AF that had four zones starting at 0,6m, but better than onestep2 fixfocus, is ist?!

      Oh yeah it was VERY hot on that journey, early on it was certainly breaking three figures - the Igloo cooler certainly came in clutch for keeping the film from souring!

  • @therestorationofdrwho1865

    Do we know if there are any more releases in line from Polaroid?
    New film to some capacity? Something different? They don’t really do much in the way of SX-70 film it seems.

    I’m debating whether getting the Polaroid now+ or the Instax Sq1. I love the easy aspect of pointing and shooting of the sq1 but i’d also love to have full control over my photos, idk which one to get!!! 🧐

    I have 600 type photos taken in 1991 and those appear much sharper than the newer Originals 600 film. Like a big difference. The 600 and i-type film these days is fuzzy

    Hey! Long time viewer, first time commentator, I've been considering getting an instant camera and I've been more interested in the lomography style like the instant square due to what appears to be more options for being creative and playing around with the camera. Film is also notably cheaper than polaroid, but would you consider this camera an interesting entry point? How would you compare with lomography style cameras?
    Questions aside, thanks for the interesting channel and the incredible sense of humour, you're the reason I got interested in instant cameras in the first place!

      Thank you so much Rafael and great to hear from you in a comment? I’d say, technically, the Now+ can definitely do more than the Lomo Square. I’d personally make this decision based on cost and how much you prefer one film to the other (Instax vs Polaroid). They are so different in both size and results that it’s truly a preference question.

    Love that they finally made a camera that uses color filters...hopefully they are true Y/O/R filters and not just colored glass/plastic. I would LOVE it if they had a feature for Aperture mode that basically "stuck" the camera on your desired aperture so you didn't have to use the app. They could use a different color on the LED to show this. I know I'd just stick it on f/11 and shoot that way most of the time. I know, I know, a lot of people would/could screw it up, but a boy can dream. AND....AAAAAND, why didn't they do the old Spectra half-blur filter???!!! It's THE most awesome filter ever made!!! C'mon 3d printing world, let's make some new filters!!!!

    • @InAnInstant
      @InAnInstant  Před 2 lety +2

      I'm sure we'll get some diopter features for this! Or, at the very least, you could fashion an old one on there and that'd do the trick!

    • @DeeSnow97
      @DeeSnow97 Před 2 lety

      Definitely gonna CAD up a filter thread as soon as I get this camera, sounds like the attachment mechanism isn't too complex (there's a visible crease on the ring around the lens that wasn't there on the regular Now, pretty sure that's how filters snap into place) and if the dimensions check out it should be pretty much exactly there at 49mm. And with that, you'll be able to use everything that goes into a thread, whether that's color temp correction, macro diopters, or like a prism or something.

    • @InAnInstant
      @InAnInstant  Před 2 lety +2

      Mostly in my pocket or a cooler, depending on the temps. Occasionally it was blazing hot so I made sure to have photos develop in the coolest temps possible.
