- The Laugo Arms Alien was a low bore axis wonder gun that was tough to get ahold of - now with Laugo Arms USA launching - they are hitting the ground with a new gun - the Creator Evolution which has a 2011 grip angle - and the Limited Optics configuration makes it legal for USPSA Limited Optics.

As a competitive shooter myself, with close to 100 Different firearms, including now three aliens I will say that once again, you have knocked it out of the park, and that your reviews are like none other in terms of their accuracy and entertainment.

As for CELO, mine just came into my FFL and I have yet to shoot it let alone compete with it, but I can’t wait.
Your comment about the viscosity of the lube is not to be underestimated as denser oil will cause the slides to gum up and become sluggish. It would be interesting to have you do an entire video on cleaning tools and oils, etc. I feel like there’s a lot of misunderstanding in that regard.

Best Alien Creator video out there. I was able to shoot the original, and the recoil impulse was interesting. Definitely a fun and unique experience. The market is flooded with guns that are similar to each other, which are only separated by minor differences. Cool to see something completely different, even if it is out of reach for most people. Look forward to the follow-up.

My first handgun was a HK P7 and it works exactly like the Alien, except that the recoil spring is around the barrel and the piston is under it. It also gets hot after about 2 or 3 mags in rapid succession, but they have a plastic heat shield above the trigger area so it doesn't get uncomfortably hot until about 5 or 6 mags. Laugo so do this too! For the price maybe they can use a TUFI ceramic (aka Space Shuttle Heat Shield tile material)

The Alien is a super cool and futuristic design. Wish they could cut the price in half since i am a poor, but whatever.
But putting the optic back on the slide because some dumbass in the USPSA/IPSC rejects innovation is super dumb. They created a way forward, enabled a way to not beat up your optic with every shot, and somebody got offended by technology. Again. After they just allowed red dots on production guns. It's incomprehensively stupid.
To everyone complaining about price, you can find new first edition Aliens, with the basic kit, for under $4k regularly on GB. Laugo needs to hurry up and release the basic kit for the Evolution. It's kinda annoying that they've followed an Apple/Porsche tactic of releasing expensive limited editions in small quantities. Understandable at first while you're ramping up production of the new SKU but it's time fellas. You release a basic kit of the Evolution, with two mags and an optic plate with a $4XXX price tag and this becomes a real option for the masses. Spend a year dicking around with $6-7K limited editions and no one will care when the basic kit actually becomes available. Love the innovation contained in the pistol, not liking the current business model.
Glad to see some innovation in handgun designs. Maybe the bore access will trickle down to affordable guns.

Thanks for showing one of these mythical beasts outside of gunfluencer captivity. Its not the first to use gas delayed blowback for its operating mechanism by far, a bunch of very early self loaders did and more recently the most well known was the H&K P7 series, but it does bring a lot more modern features to a gas delayed blowback system in a gun oriented entirely towards sport shooting.
I reckon you would have placed better if you kept the dad shorts for the whole match.

the base pad breakdown on that 5k gun that has an upside down gas recoil system really pushed the purchasing decision over the line for me. joke's aside, that's genuinely very very very cool.
Bastards pretty much abandoned original Alien. I'd need retro kit to make mine LO legal and abandon the magwell ,because new mag pads don't fit the old one. Although great gun , it doesn't do anything in my book ,good 2011 won't do. BTW , mine is for sale 😅
The original still is fine for Production div! Its the same gun different grip angle.

The Alien is unique. But it's inspirations aren't. It's an upside down H&K P7 with CZ style grips and a side-slide reminiscend of .22 pistols like the Beretta Neos or Buckmark.
if this tech trickles down it may be the first design in maybe 100 years (???) that has actually literally changed the game. The only negative i heard was 100+$ mags that only fit 21. not bad per se but i was doing about 23+1 usable with my shadow 2 and the fully upped aftermarket mags. would like to say 22/23 should be norm at this price point? nit pick but for 5k i think any nit picking is warranted.

I have shot the creator evolution quite a bit as one of my friends has one. I have had a CELO now for all of 5 days. Serial # 9. My LGS is a big Laugo dealer and he received 10 of them. I took the lowest serial number. I shot it on paper the first day to dial in the optic and I shot it for a few hours yesterday on the steel range next to my ported Atlas Athena and my Erebus. I agree with everything you said.
I prefer the CELO over the regular evolution because you can rack off the optic. I have already adjusted the thumb rest. It’s manual of arms is slightly different from a 2011 It is far more capable than I am. I am not in the least bit regretful that I bought this gun. It’s not for everyone and it certainly doesn’t negate the need for a good 2011, but it is amazing and considering that the creator evolution limited edition costs over $7000, it’s a pretty good bargain for what it is.

Now that you have the CELO for more than 5 days, do you still recommend it? Between Athena and CELO which one would you recommend for USPSA LO?
@@Gabierama well, unfortunately, I took my Athena out of the limited optics category by getting it ported. But I’m OK with that because it’s a beast. I have been shooting my alien a lot and I absolutely love it. I shoot at a small outdoor private range that has a multitude of steel and paper targets where we can really move around, draw from holster and drill and it is a tack driver. Super tight follow up shots. I’m not a super fast split guy But I’m just as quick with my alien as I am with my atlas. i’m not going to get rid of my atlases anytime soon, but I absolutely love this firearm. Since I only own two thumbs I’ll give it two thumbs up. 👍👍. Worth every penny.

Does Alien get hot? There are people saying that Alien get hot. But I’m assuming during a match shouldn’t get that hot since you only will shoot a few rds per stage.
What about malfunctions and maintenance? What is your experience in those two areas?

For the double alpha… on the A type insert. Did you have to modify anything to accept the Alien? On their website it says you may be able to use it with some modifications. Just trying to decide which double alpha holster to get to started on competition shooting. Thanks

After 2000 rounds, you have to replace the recoil spring. I've owned one and competed with it for a few years.
Ive got 20k on my original recoil spring, i think you are wrong
Mine was having reliability problems. The spring weight felt light. I replaced it and the spring weight is much heavier and it works fine. 20$

Gas guns a great, good or bad design??
Since the CELO has a Reciprocating Optic, would we be expecting a CO version of the Alien soon?
The regular Alien Creator can be shot in CO - just have to have the Retro slide mount - no magwell - no gas pedal . The Alien has been CO/PO legal from Gen 1 - just had to buy the Retro slide mount optic kit
@@stovepipe8966That’s incorrect. Only legal in IPSC for those divisions, not USPSA. Single Action trigger, only Limited/Limited Optics legal in USPSA.

it's completely different - it's a piston gun and not a gunsmith browning action. If you expect atlas lockup you'll be disappointed - but it's not supposed to be that.
Have an Alien and at the moment use of a friends Alien Creator 500. I Think the Creator is better than original Alien in some respects but still prefer original Alien grip. Prefer my 2011 STI Costa Carry Comp ( heavily modified with LimCat stainless grip and Extreme parts) to both Aliens. 2011 trigger is more forgiving and does not pivot). Recoil impulse is too harsh with the Aliens - direct into your hand but not as soft or predictable as a 2011 with compensator. My splits are similar but I feel more control with 2011.
Hate that they made them put the optic on the slide.

My S2 base pads don’t allow the spring to easily pull straight down

I’m curious to see if they’ll ever drop that action onto a polymer frame and see if they can make a gun that’s priced in line with every other striker fired plastic pistol but with their trademark low bore axis.

After about 60 rounds it get too hot to keep holding, the only reason I don’t shoot mine much
BS. I have shot over 150 rounds in 1,5 hour on inside range and was still fully usable during competition.
@@OutdoorswithJussi come shoot the one I have and see if it’s possible to. I shoot with three others and the consensus is the same. A lot of past reviews have made this same remark, honest outlaw, and a number of others. I shoot about 1000 rounds every Saturday, usually with 2-3 different guns. I love the Alien, but it’s just not practical for my use, though as a carry weapon, the heat would not be an issue
