- Exploring the main square, old town, and the vasa museum with my favorite person and my best friend. The best time in Stockholm despite the cold. We were blown away by how underrated this city is by Americans and I’m already scheming to plan another trip during the summer. I love you, Stockholm!
Next week is Vienna- subscribe so you don’t miss it!
If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I’ll be happy to answer.

Love you!
Summertime really transforms Stockholm.
Suddenly, people on the street look more attractive than from a few weeks ago, and you feel more attractive yourself?
The setting is the same, but the vibe is suddenly like a flower opening for you to enjoy the nectar of!
Pretentious? Mnyeaah, maybe.
I think this is often the case in countries with colder climates and/or less sun. It's the same in the UK for sure.
I am just back from Stockholm in the beautiful spring weather and you would love it!!! Loved this video, Gamla Stan is so beautiful ❤
I need to make it back during the spring and summer for sure!! Thank you!
Nice video Paige. Stockholm looks very interesting
As a native Stockholm, you should absolutely make the effort to go there for maybe like a week in the summer and take the boats out in the archipelago. Been living here my whole life but still is breathtaking to go out there on a sunny summer day. 🙂
There are tons of islands that the boats dock at so just take your pick. The more popular one is Grinda because it is close to from central Stockholm and it is fairly large. My personal favorite is Finnhamn. Takes a good while to get to but man it is a beautiful island.
Totally on my bucket list!! Hoping to come back in the next few years :)
Hi do you live near kth can you suggest me what accommodation facilities available.
Can you suggest me how to do is wise.
@@asraralam2317 Not really close, but are you attending KTH for studies? Apartments for longer stays are in general a bit tricky in Stockholm as there is quite a shortage of apartments. But if you are there for a shorter stay there should be plenty of hotels around depending on your budget. There is hotels around a park called Humlegården which is roughly 15 minutes walk to KTH from. So depends on what you are looking for. 🙂
Hope it helps.
@@grim8050 thank you so much for response
Currently I'm in Korea next month I'll go Sweden to join kth for longer term
If possible could you suggest me how to do wise
There's no vacant room at kth till December
@@asraralam2317 Well, if you have to wait until December, I would probably look into the more suburban areas of Stockholm in particular north of Stockholm as it most likely will make your traveling to KTH easier. Hard to say prices but your best bet is probably finding a subcontract apartment. It will cost a fair bit but it will be cheaper most likely in suburban areas compared to the more central parts. But if money is not really an issue then you can probably find a subcontract apartment more centrally located.
I loved it when i went. Will definitely be back! There's so much to do and it's such a chill vibe
You should definetly visit Stockholm during summer. Especially during july 👌
Omg yes definitely want to come back!! It looks like it would be stunning!
june and august is fine as well...
My friend say that Summer Solstice time is the best time, because of the really long day.
And especially during Midsummer. Then the city is empty of inhabitants, all are in the country, celebrating.
Beautiful and romantic ❤❤❤❤❤
Great vlog of my homecity. So glad you enjoyed your time being here! And yes, Summer here is unbelievable, especially due to the archipelago :))
Thank you!! Can’t wait to make it back someday :)
Wow you got such a nice snowy but still sunny view of stockholm! Beautiful 😍
Seriously!! I was in awe the entire time it was so perfect
Wow super beautiful video
glad you liked your stay :) stockholm can be a very beautiful place.
i work in the city pretty much every day and alot on the roofs so i get alot of nice fotos when i have time to take them :)
its probably a city people dont really think about but is deffinetly worth visiting. of course there are more places to visit in Sweden as well.
happy travels to you guys
take care
A really nice weekend-winter-guide to Stockholm! Fun historic trivia: Where the big building (Nationalmuseum) is located next to bridge over to Skeppsholmen island is roughly where the infamous ship Vasa was built. Before becoming a peninsula, it was actually an island as well, with ship building yards on it, like on Skeppsholmen. It's still called Blasieholmen. ('holmen' is "the small island" in Swedish)
Bonus winter trivia: The drum at the beginning of the changing-of-the-guards reminded me of the Swedish group Kent's teaser for their last album and tour "Då som nu för alltid" (as of then and now forever). Shot on different locations in Stockholm: czcams.com/video/bubOcI11sps/video.html
I love my home city, glad you like it ❤
Not sure how much reindeer you'll actually find in Stockholm restaurants. I'm sure there are restaurants that serve it, but if I wanted to eat reindeer I'd go further north. When I made a stop in Jokkmokk, just north of the Arctic circle, a few years ago, the local pizzeria had reindeer pizza on the menu!
It’s on my bucket list now so I guess I’ve gotta go!
Very nice 👍
Leveling up the music I see
great city for sure
Feeling generous today. Moving you from 299 to 300 subs. Congratulations on 300 subs.
Hahah thank you!!!
Lovely video! I'll be in Stockholm in a few days and I'm really excited about it. Can you share the location of where you saw the sunset from?
I’m pretty sure it’s called Monteliusvägen and the address is around Blecktornsgränd 1!
You should have also gone to the ABBA museum, if you are a music lover. They paved the way for other successful Swedish rock/pop singers/groups internationally.
I wanted to so bad! We’ll have to come back some day and do a longer trip because we were just short on time :)
@@paigelydia Although I knew several of ABBA’s popular songs before I went, and I had also watched the Mamma Mia on Broadway, I didn’t really become interested in the group’s music until after seeing the museum. Afterwards I started exploring more of their songs or solo hits.
Interestingly enough, during the mid to late 1970s, ABBA was the biggest industry or second biggest industry in Sweden after Volvo.
@@abinashmishra329 That old myth again...
Hello, how are you? I am going to visit southern Sweden near Denmark or maybe Stockholm on February 8th ( do you recommend south of Sweden or near Stockholm and why?). I want to see the beauty of winter and the SNOW, I especially chose the beginning of February because I heard that it's the month with the most snowfall. Is this true? I want to see Sweden completely white, covered in deep snow. Will I find it on February 8th or will the snow have melted?
And if you recommend a specific rural area in southern Sweden or near Stockholm , near the nature that is covered in snow and beautiful for a holiday among the snow, could you mention its name because I haven't booked accommodation yet. Thanks ! Waiting for your reply 😄.
I'm going in May for a conference! I'm hoping it won't be cold and raining the entire time. I only have about 4 days in Stockholm.
Make the most out of it!! We only had two full days and still fell in love with the city :) get a train card so you can travel easily between the islands
Great he took you to the views from the southside of the city plus the visit to the cool Vetekattan place which is a classic. Come back in the summer to experience the city in all its glory during the long long days when Swedes let their hair down.
Yes!! Counting down the days until I can make it happen!
I just kinda stumbled upon this while watching travel videos and I just wanted to say hi because my name is Lydia Paige lol
Omg no way lol our parents think alike
Did you hear about the Stockholm bood bath?
It wasbin Stortorget in gamla stan in 1520.
It sparked the war of liberation from the Danes.
The main battle waas in Västerås (my home town) in 1521.
Declaration of independance was in June 6, 1523.
June 6 is our national day.
Great that you visited the Vasa museum. I think that it should be illegal to visit Stockholm for the first time and not visit the Vasa museum.
Another great little museum to visit is the Medeival Museum.
It is just across the steet from the house of parlament.
Love hearing the history from the places we visited! Counting down until we can go back and visit all the museums recommended to us since we went :)
This march was the coldest in 107 years (in Sweden)…
Makes sense! It was chilly! Reminded me of home back in Utah. We also had a crazy winter that feels like it’s still going rn!
You actually pretty much nailed the pronunciation of 'Stortorget'.
Omg yay that’s good to hear!
U looking beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nordic Venice 🇸🇪
I don’t agree Stockholm is underrated. Sadly is just a bit out of the typical European capitals circuit and connections are not so good. But it really is an amazing city, specially in summer
Agreed! I was thinking more underrated to Americans when put next to cities like Rome, Madrid, Paris. The whole time I spent there I kept thinking “why don’t people from my hometown come here more often?!”
And on top of it, I found the Swedes to be some of the nicest people I ever met. They don’t give you an attitude if you don’t know Swedish (or any other Germanic Scandinavian language).
You may visit other countries that have more aesthetically pleasing natural landscapes or architecture, but you will never meet much nicer people.
If you go during the summer months, aim for Midsommar (Summer Solstice). My friend who speaks Swedish and did a semester abroad there says that it’s a big deal in Sweden. Do the Archepelago boat tour (it’s a 3-hour tour 😂) and stop at Vaxholm. Visit Drottningholm palace.
Also, you should visit the Skansen open air museum. (Interestingly enough, every Scandinavian capital has one such open air museum, according to Rick Steves.)
Also, did you and your friend do “fika”?
@@abinashmishra329yes!! The sweetest people and the most beautiful country. Midsommer is 100% on my bucket list, keeping my fingers crossed that someday my friend gets married out there so I have an excuse to come back during the summer.
We unintentionally did fika every day!! A part of their culture I’d be happy to adopt into my every day life haha
"Grå munken café" is a bad choice. Makes me as a swede sad. I was there ones and never again.
Not the absolute best cafe but it’s in a convenient location for us as tourists and was the only place that had semlor that late in the day!
Reindeer meat isn’t anywhere as good as salty licorice. Trust me. 😏
Interestingly enough, I ended up loving the Thai food I ate there. Also their sushi is good (though they put a lingonberry on the top).
@@abinashmishra329 Absolutely no sushi place in Stockholm puts lingonberries on top.
@@AnnaKaunitz the one near my hotel did
@@abinashmishra329 If that were actual lingonberries they’re the only one. Never seen that my 5 decades here. It sounds kind of ridiculous, unnecessary and expensive. Yes some actual fish dishes are served with them but usually raw stirred with sugar. Like fried herring. There are tons of reasons, practical, seasonal, very limited availability and cultural reasons. Traditional Swedish cuisine is quite specific about its flavours and ingredients.
lingonberries are traditional and would not be wasted as decoration. Lingonberries are in only season August - September. The rest of the year they are served in various processed ways usually mixed with sugar or thawed.
There’s some great sushi places in the city indeed but berries are not a sushi thing.
@@AnnaKaunitz the one I went to had Caucasian waitresses
It's not accurate to generalize that all Swedish people think they are better than others. However, some Swedish people might feel a sense of pride in their country's achievements in areas like social welfare, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. This pride doesn't necessarily mean they think they are inherently better than people from other countries, but rather that they are proud of their nation's accomplishments and values. Remember, cultural differences and pride don't always equate to superiority. #RespectDiversity
I don’t think I ever said or implied that Swedish people think that way. My experience in Sweden was amazing, hence why I titled the video as the most underrated. No one group is better than any other.
@@paigelydia It's great to hear that you had a positive experience in Sweden and that you don't believe any group is better than another. It's important to embrace diversity and appreciate the unique qualities that each culture brings to the table. Thank you for clarifying your perspective!
having a hard time hearing you ?
Interesting, haven’t heard that before! I’ll look into it
You seems to be stuck in the same area. That's a shame. A map is a good thing and also read up a bit beforehand about the place and the weather.
What do you mean? I had a great time and was lead around by someone that literally lived in Stockholm.
Also not really understanding how we didn’t “read up” about the weather? We’re from a place that has the same weather and were expecting the cold so I wouldn’t say we were unprepared.
Stockholm is actually a series of islands. That’s why it appears that she was in just one area. In fact Stockholm means “log island” in Swedish
I have to disagree with you in terms of underrated
In what way?
@@paigelydia I have been living in Sweden for 2 and a half years. 2 years in Malmö and 8 months in Stockholm. Speaking from a resident's perspective it's not underrated. It has limited qualities for tourism besides the Gamla Stan. It can get VERY boring at times, with its lack of social vibes, yet it has a good corporate vibe (not gonna knock you with this), but if you like nightlife - then, Stockholm isn't the place to be.
@@haniaboufadel309 I respect your perspective for sure! My husband and I don’t really participate in nightlife and our trip was very short so I could understand how it could be disappointing for others. I call it underrated because it exceeded expectations for us when it comes to the food, people, and the breathtaking views while we were there.
