    This is the 5th tile project we've done where we've removed the old tile before installing new tile, and the first one with this tool czcams.com/users/postUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS . I want to cry for all the unnecessary work we've done in the past. With this tool, we removed tile surrounding a fireplace, as well as the hearth tile, set in loads of cement, in less than an hour. I highly recommend this tool. It was easy to use, and very satisfying watching the tile literally fall off the wall.

    Just a kind and helpful suggestion; your time trial set up is kinda cool, however, I would suggest adding or using larger type of SPAX screws, or small lags, which would test the power and speed of a particular drill. They would not need to be Huge, just something more than drywall screws. And further, pre set them into the material, which would eliminate any fumbling with starting the screws, guessing at the time, etc. Thanks for considering this. Stay safe and Healthy!

      Why not put that on your videos?

    • @Chukijay
      @Chukijay Před 3 lety +4

      @@wgooetrik because it’s a useful criticism and suggestion. With the operator starting the screws, it adds a variable to a test that should be as controlled as possible. The current method of testing isn’t testing the tool objectively, it’s testing the operator with a specific tool, which is sort of subjective, or at least adds variables.

    I don't like videos where the time is influenced by how fast the person uses it. I like side by side comparison of the tool itself. I love the video idea but not the execution of it. But I respect you guys for making these videos. Just wish we could see the tool in action more

    As starter i just bought the thought kit which includes skillsaw, grinder flexvolt advantage and sold the atomic drills to get the xr impact and flexvolt drill, sold my old tools cheap and got enough to buy the reciprocal saw flexvolt too with battery included, now i have new tools and the whole new advantages tools thanks to this new deals, I use to buy cheap tools on yard sales but end it up not working well but now with the buy of a new home ( needs a lot of work) this tools will help a lot.

Using the milwaukee for a while now I feel like the motor is smoother, less vibration, but could just be the ones I got.

    On a more technical note, each lithium cells are rated to kick out about 20-40 amps with of course a massive voltage drop. The more in parallel (in this case the amp hour rating), the more rated maximum current draw, but also multiplied output power. (Lots of ways to look at this, batter overall ESR is the limiting factor, and parallel cell connections lower the overall ESR)
    For people that says higher AH rating only gives you a higher capacity (energy), and not power, they are wrong. The performance of the DCD999 is the result of a monstrous battery and careful tuning of the electronic control side of things.
    I'll be doing a teardown of it and some inspection from an electronics point of view.

    Running a drill at max rpm and feed pressure straight through is not normal for me and many others as I suspect we wish to avoid ugly messy blow out. The extra power/torque from Dewalt flex volt or larger batteries is useful and has certainly changed what can be achieved with these compact battery drills.

Love my DeWalt gear and buying possibly a 999 very soon...Or the one that's missing from the competition.The DCD998 which is also supposed to turn on the jets with the Flex Volt battery thanks to "power detect" . Which is really superior? Are they the same drill with the exception of a single digit? Is it just so Lowes and HD can each have an exclusive version of the flagship model? If you know please pass it along before I just go buy a flex lol

    So $300 for a drill, battery, and charger. Is it worth the few minutes saved over the course of a day? Jury is out on that, as all of us have different use cases, but I suspect this is only going to be beneficial for those that use it as a write-off or business expenditure. It’s a unit, though, that’s for sure.
