33Rをきちんとリスペクトしてくれるこの章は好きですね
本当に黒木編好き。最初は燻っていてた黒木だが、玲奈のR32・悪魔のZ・ブラックバードと戦っていく中で熱を取り戻していき、やがて湾岸を降りていくかつての仲間達と決別する。
ラストのZとのバトルで黒木のR33がブローするシーンは、黒木自身がR200クラブ等の過去の10年間の殻を打ち破り、新たな未来が始まっていく事を暗示している。
大黒でPAで元走り屋カップルが、「黒木はとっくに腐ってるなんて噂はあてになんねえな。やっぱかっこいいわ」的な場面が大好きでした。
このあたり、原作をリアルタイムで痺れながら読んだんだけど
アニメ化しても全くクオリティが落ちてないのが凄い。
本当に凄い。
アーケードゲームでも、クオリティが落ちてませんよね(^ ^)
黒木ニキのあの長い語り(ポエム)が超短縮されたくらいだがしゃーない。

This described the whole series. Wangan Midnight you step into the accelerator while Initial D would focus on steering through tight hairpins.
Philosophy is much different, in this anime its more of a big boys racing. Adults really, and most likely do their own tuning, achieving higher speeds but at a much higher cost i.e. bigger turbos etc. Unlike initial D, its more of a younger crowd and all depends on driving skills. Don't get me wrong, this anime also involves driving skills, but at that speed, keeping it stable also while turning is no joke. But if you're a true car enthusiast, then you'll appreciate both different types of racing.
Not to mention the focus of this story behind the s30z,the "devil z"was born in the late 1970's,an era when there was next to none bolt-on,off the shelf parts released to the public,even if they had them,most of them are retained for motorsports applications.most of the modification consisted of custom machining,fabrication works and alot of effort.In my opinion,I think the author is trying to tell us a tale of tuning before fuel injection,ball-bearing turbine and electronic assists hit the scene in the late 80's.

Right. It's a battle of car tuning and courage. One of the Japanese tuning shop owners that to run wangan said "At one point during your acceleration, you feel like you hit a wall, you can't go on anymore, and that's when you let off the gas"

某峠マンガには登場せず、黄色い34のおっさんには失敗作と罵られたR33がここでは活躍！
しかも白いR33カッコいい！

It's always the R32's and R33's, Never the R34's. It's a bit weird
Usually in other anime, the cars are either futuristic and unrealistic, or it involves a 9 y/o Girl driving a Honda Jazz at mach 6 through narrow-ass streets.
For that last one, racing against an FD or any GT-R with a Honda Jazz and somehow beat them

どうせなら水温計100じゃなく105とか110度くらいで止まって欲しいな。
以前、真夏のレース出走前にパドックでコースインする時とスターティンググリッドについた時にこう言う事よくあった。
大昔のレースだったからECUフルチューンするとアイドリング全く安定せず500回転くらいから4000回転くらいまで勝手にフラフラするし、下がり過ぎると失火してプラグ被るから多めにアクセル踏んでスタートの合図待ってると水温計どんどん上がるしレースカーなんてラジエターファン取っ払ってるから走り出すまでヒヤヒヤするし走り出しても全開につぐ全開だから水温計ちゃんと100度くらいで安定するの確認してやっとドライブに専念出来るって感じだった……

IMO, R33 shouldn't be labelled as the black sheep of the family. Each siblings has their own respective appeal, features and quirks. There are people who appreciate the 33 more than its two brothers.
Ironically the R33 is the fastest out of the 3 in stock form lol
Thats because R33 had bigger body and slightly wider than R32 and R34 which is suitable for Striaght-line and Circuit type. R33 have advantage being stable on high-speed while R32 and R34 had less width which is suitable for cornering and tight turns.
However, it also comes with bad side being Heaviest among 3 of them and suspension settings is softer which gives you better comfort BUT that caused heavy UNDERSTEER on corners than their brothers.
Thats why Kozo Hoshino (God Foot) said that R33 is GARBAGE in Touge-pass due wide-body issue and he switched to R34 as his last car after coming back to R32 for second time.
Despite that, R33 is had best looking cars and style than R34 R32 have. In stock mode, R33 have faster laps than R32 and R34 which is an Irony

作者の努力や経験、リアルってもんも視聴者には伝わらないんだねえ、と寂しくなったわ。
「そっちは平気そうだな、空冷のくせに」も見てる人の大半が分かってないんだろうなあ、凄く重要なセリフなんだが。
知らない人に見せても、その言葉に含まれた真意は掴み取れないと思います。勿論、事実上のデータを目の前に出して比較若しくは解説をしながら話をすればまだしも、作品に出てくるほんのひとつのセリフ。全く知らない人に理解して欲しいというのは難し過ぎますよ。軽く車を知ってる程度の人間でも理解が難しい時もある訳ですからね。致し方の無い事ですよ。

Pacing is very tedious as far as I know some filled with technical stuff I didn’t want to know.

Over rev! is great, but Wangan Midnight is on totally different level. It's anime not for everyone, but only for some, who can enjoy it.
@@danielsantslv4565 9 months late. But it's a mix of the techniques seen in Initial D for drifting and the technical stuff you see here. Just like this one, all the girls (you can say cute girls doing driving stuff) took care of their own cars have personal relations with them. It's also more focused with the car culture in general and the cast went to an official race at one point. Sadly, scanlations stopped at chapter 101.
@@danielsantslv4565 Oh yeah, the cars the main cast drive in order of their(the characters) appearance are Toyota MR2 G-limited(AW11), Nissan Silvia S13(MR2 driver accidentally dunked it on the ocean)-S14(Forgot what happened to it)-S15(Final one), Honda Civic EG6, and Peugeot 106 Rallye.

I don't sure which one is real canon, and this was bugged me

I estimated there power and porche is about 450 hp and gtr is around 550-570 hp in it considering the weight of r33 and it is one heavy car compared to the porche 930
Porsche is 700hp

Can someone explain to me what happened to the r33? what does engine mounting has to do with Kuroki can't shift from 4th to 5th ??
Episode 17 explains it. But essentially his engine mount cracked because the added hp output (which makes the engine shake more) was causing too much strain on the mount. Once the mount cracked he was unable to shift to 5th at higher rpms because the mount wasn't holding the engine and tranny in the same position stably.
Yeah the vibration at high speed won't allow you to shift into gear with a broken mount, this is why race cars use solid mounts or polyurethane mounts instead of that cheap street rubber mounts.
His engine blows up because of too much power, it really overheats the car and causes it to lose control. Same thing happened with Harada's 300ZX.
So top speed racing in this anime is basically like racing at Le Mans. The fact that Kuroki almost won but lost to a part failure is like Toyota's luck at Le mans. The race chose the winner.
