  • The Quran says nothing about 'shortening of prayers', or 'ritualistic worship during battles'. Nor does 'Kitaban Maqutan' mean 5 times ritual prayer per day. Nor does it talk about doing zikr on 'sides'.
    Presentation based on the Quran and nothing else.

    This is another powerful reflection. These verses surrounding "war prayers" I think are some of the weakest in terms of arguing for "salat" being no more than ritual prayer. I currently translate the word as basically "adherence" and related terminology. My current understanding is that as-Salat was a regular meeting where the prophet taught the Quran. I'll be following along your work though. You've helped me make draw a stronger in conclusion, though there's a part of me still needing more. I can't believe this is original meaning can be completely lost. It must be somewhere buried and needs to be dug up inshaAllah.

    Presentation clearly demonstrates the difference between illogical traditional translations vs. your own understanding (based on reasoning supported by alternative, suitable definitions of misunderstood terms) Those who disagree should provide similar research.
    Any book is always read one line at a time…until it is completed. So, it is the same with the Quran. If you didn’t understand one ayah, the subsequent wouldn’t make sense. One can reevaluate it after completion. But, to say that you must understand the whole book first in order to understand its parts, cannot be accurate. Would anyone read a book of guidance, waiting for the finish and not understanding all the sections in between?

    I might be incorrect, but, based on verses 4:101 to 4:103, I believe that the Prophet Mohamad, the leader of the ummah, gave a group of troops strategies/instructions on how to fight while another group provided protection for them and vice versa.

      You are partially correct especially the part where you wrote, _"gave a group of troops strategies/instructions..."_
      Not only _"strategies/instructions"_ but also GUIDANCE; GOOD NEWS; TRUTH; MERCY and everything that is the Quran!
      Like most Sectarian, i.e. Sunnis, Shiites or whatever else, you have been brought up to believe that the Quran was solely sent down to the prophet and it was entirely up to him to understand and _"interpret/translate"_ the Quran. This is evidenced by the habit of Sunni/Shiite translators of the Quran to always insert (selectively) in brackets the name (Muhammad.) And, Al Moses PHD touched on this in the beginning of this presentation.
      Please go read the Quran again but this time remember the BASICS, i.e. the Quran is a Book of Wisdom/Truth/Guidance for MANKIND. The Quran is NOT a history book or book of poetry or book of Chants.

    Hi brother Moses, I feel some kind of pressure have lifted from my entire body since I came across your channel. I have had all these questions growing up and more torments and doubts came when I studied Islamic culture at school. I pondered and reflected daily on my religion. I daily see from all corners we follow scholars, imams, muftis and Haadiths blindly. Even now deep down in my heart I am still struggling to grapple with these deep rooted feelings. I could not find answers to so many questions and the doubts I had. I was named in my circle a rebel, the difficult one and almost a disbeliever, as I challenged the so called normal practices allegedly proven by so many authentic contradictive haadiths. Yes, I had thoughts of becoming an atheist. I felt uncomfortable mainly about the enormous ambiguity in so many verses including haadiths and so many false and contradictive explanations. So many similarities with other religions and yet we are ready to criticise them with every breath and vice versa. Friday sermons are mostly patronising, a good telling off and reminders how we are going to be punished in the grave. Blaming disasters in Turkey due to sins we committed. I am still going through your videos and I am not saying you have answered all the questions and queries but it is a start. I would suggest not to apologise to those you believe you are or could be hurting and would not accept your explanations. If you are putting the truth/propositions forward with firm evidence from the quran itself for us to consider they should be no apology. I cannot understand how the Arabic speaking Muslims are not having similar discussion to a wider scale. I know there must be a few out there but have not discovered them yet. I do not understand Arabic , nor do I speak Urdu, indi etc. I am not well versed in the Quran apart from recitation and reading English translation. My father was a great fan of Yusuf Ali translation and that is where I learned my understanding of the Quran. I read other known authors too like Pickthall etc. Thank you for all your hard work and passing on your understanding and knowledge without fear. I have encountered repercussions with my challenging stance with family and friend circles. I must stress you must keep yourself and family safe.

    It is certainly acceptable that the salah, specifically the fardh rakats of Zuhr, Asr, and Isha are reduced from four rakats to two rakats. The shortening of prayers is mentioned both in the Quran and is a confirmed Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
    In Surah An Nisa, ayah 101 it says, "And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve may disrupt [or attack] you. Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy."
    Prayers In the battlefield:
    Surah An Nisa, ayah 102. "And when you are among them (Muslim forces) and keep up the prayer for them, then let a party of them stand up (in prayer) with you, carrying their arms. Then when they have performed (their) prostrations, let them (continue the second unit solitarily and) take their precaution in your rear, and let another party who have not prayed come and pray with you (from the second unit), and let them take their precautions and their arms; (for) those who disbelieve desire that you should be heedless of your weapons and your baggage, then they would attack you all at once. And it is no sin for you to lay down your arms if you are annoyed with rain or if you are sick, but take your precautions. Verily Allah has prepared a disgraceful chastisement for the infidels."

      Wouldn't be the first time Bani-Israil was send a Rasul and they slipped meaningless stuff into the matters of religion for the blind herd-minded followers of their autority. Why do you think a guy called Adam is according to them born in the valley of euphrates and tigris? Was this mentioned in the original Taurat of Musa? Or did they took stories from the Babylonians (during the times long after Musa, when they were forced to live there) about a guy named Gilgamesh and pretended that Gilgamesh is actually a guy named Adam and this is their own origin-story?!
      The same way many other made-up stories and practices of the Bani-Israil were slipped into the interpretation of the Quran without evidence why it would be that way (and also eliminated many of the Quranic concepts), because "Our" Ummah "Our" scholars excepted them as autorities and and copied blindly what they had interpreted into their own books of Tafsir, because "tHeSe aRe rAbBiS! tHeY hAVe tHe kNoWleDgE oF tHe tAuRaT! sO tHeY kNoW bEtTeR aNd wE sHoUlD bLiNdLy rEly oN wHaT tHeY dEeM aS pArT oF oUr dEeN!"
      "Our" Aqida includes not to question meaningless interpretation of "Our" Deen - because "Our" Aqida attributed many meaningless interpretations as given by Allah to the Quran, and - Bani-Israils ancient scholars knew if they are questioned, they can't hold ground with the words of Allah, so they kept away as many concepts as possible, from the concepts of the Quran, to prevent that their made-up stuff could break apart.
      Now you witness the end of this ancient corruption with your own mind. Many concepts of the Quran will be disclosed. Many academically sound scholars will derive new and unbiased meanings from the Quran in an ongoing chain of paradigm-shifts, until nothing of the old corruption is left, but only the decree of Allah from withing the Quran.
      May Allah increase our 3ilm.

    this is all a very methodical view of the quran. I'm currently running through the playlist, but I have a few questions. Maybe you answer them in later videos. Firstly how do you Aqeemus salah then? what do we do to be those who aqeem the salah? and Can I also ask, these translations of words, where do you get them from? Is it purely from the quran and the context? Or is there a source where we can look at a meaning for a word in its unaltered form?
    I'm not saying I disagree with you, In fact I'm trying to find truth in the quran only myself. A lot of channels out there on youtube are similar in their objective. Your arguments and understanding seem to have truth in them.

But the word used for water is maa and so a counter point would be, isn't this word used for water in a literal sense in other verses of the quran.

    Q4:101 mentions;
    - concerning "salah", which is either physical PRAYER involving believers (traditional interpretation) OR non physical CONNECTION with unbelievers (your interpretation)
    - that the unbelievers are affirmed enemies who "would harm you"
    Q4:102 "When you are (NOTE :singular "you" كُنتَ) among them (فِيهِمۡ)..."
    - QUESTION : Would the Prophet (or anyone else), on his own (SINGULAR "you"), be among unbelievers ("them") who are affirmed enemies and who would harm him OR would he be among believers ("them"), who are his friends/followers?
    It is obvious that the logical scenario would be the latter... Even in battlefield negotiations, no leader goes to discuss anything with the enemy just by himself.
    So rationally, "them" would refer to the BELIEVERS. It follows then that the context involves believers, NOT the unbelievers.
    - Now, NOWHERE in 4:102 is mentioned that the followers are in FRONT of the imam. The ayah mentions that after sujud, "fal yakunu min waro ikum", ("then they be of your rear") ie the WHOLE COMPANY's rear, with usage of the PLURAL 'you', 'kum' ( وَرَآئِكُمۡ). This means NOT that those who are in front of the imam move behind him, instead they who are already behind the imam move behind the WHOLE COMPANY. If it were refering to only the imam's rear, it would've been "waro ika", because reference to the Prophet in the ayah, (the "imam" in the scenario) is always the singular "you" (e.g مَعَكَ), not the plural "كُمۡ". The purpose of movement being to replace those (part of the company, طَآئِفَةٌ) currently guarding the rear who have not prayed (لَمۡ يُصَلُّواْ).
    Seems to me like the whole ayat fittingly discusses physical actions involving a leader and his company of followers.

      Adding to your point, Why will Kurfar follow the command of Allah( when they prostrated )?

    I'm sorry, but the context does not support the translation of "Salat" as a two-way communication.
    A two-way communication indicates that both parties have verified their contact with one another.
    How do you communicate with Allah, and how do you know that you have established that communication?

      you will feel it , the joyce , the warmth , you will be happy , you will be not alone ( inside) then you will know you are connected
      there is more , but thats your way to find out
      be sincere in your quest , Allah does know you better than you , if you dont get connected, ask yourself what are you doing wrong , Allah only connect to whom he wills , so be worthy , be humble , be genuine and have sabr ( never turn your back to Allah)

    In 4:103, we find,” So when you have completed your particular and continuous following of the Quran’s verses ( ASSALAT,the ritual prayers), then remember God’s Instructions given in the Quran,standing, sitting or lying on your side, and when you are satisfied ( that there is no danger of enemy attack and it becomes safe and secure) always continuously follow God given particular instructions in the Quran. Indeed,the particular following of the instructions of God is a duty for the believers on specified ( on their timings) (MOUQOOTA) ( this means whenever the time comes for their action upon).”( Here it does not mean the ritual prayers).

      Salamun alaikum. My view is that this channel interprets words of Allah using linguistic details in the quran.
      He takes words of Allah alone. He abides to his syahadah, ie, no authority but Allah.
      How could that be wrong?
      Do we need to externally add Allah words? Saying what Allah does not said? And do not hv verified evidence. That is grave sin.

    For the alif khinjiriya issue I would like to point out and I'm sure you know too that diacritics were added much latter to the Quran and not part of the original mushaf. So one can't say that a spelling with the dagger alif denotes one thing and one without the dagger alif denotes another, since the dagger alif was not even in the original text.
    Also I always come to one or two points where you have translated words that seem to be clutching at straws to bring into context the rest of deductions. I can't find any where Aslaha is translated as instrument, I even looked up Lanes and سِلَاحٌ even there it mentions an instrument, or instruments, of war. Seems like you ignored the latter part of the translation. What instruments or tools does one need to learn the salah/two way connection/follow closely?
    Also مطر as difficulties or sickness. Once again I could not find anyplace that translates it as that I think a better fit for matar would be making your way swiftly. مَطَرَ الفَرَسُ, (Ḳ,) aor. as above, (TA,) and so the inf. ns.: (Ḳ:) or this last signifies the horse was quick in his passing, or going, and in his running;

    • @AlMosesPhD
      @AlMosesPhD  Před rokem

      We write Urdu without diacritics. And yet we still 'pronounce' alif khinjirya and other harakat.
      If I had to later add diacritics to an existing text, I'd not be changing / adding anything that wasn't there before. No new information is being created.
      Lastly, dictionaries are even later than ahadith/fiqh literature. Quran uses its own lisan and if you look up matar there, you'll see how it's treated

      @@AlMosesPhD Well you didn't give any examples of matar used in any other context anywhere else inthe Quran and totally forgot to address Silah as instruments. rather than instruments of war.
