  • Aesthetic humility is the concept that if something has been loved in many different cultures throughout many different generations - it's probably worth loving. And if you don't like it, you're probably missing something - and that's okay! And completely normal

    I feel that a composers music is easier to understand and then enjoy the more I learn about their life and work. I didn't enjoy Bruckner, then we went on a field trip to Austria to learn about him, now I love his music

      Absolutely right. For example, knowing how deeply catholic he was helps you perceive the transcendental quality to his music. His motets are stunning

      @@benheschmeyer If you ever get the chance go to St. Florian, where he was a choir boy. I could hear Christus factus est resonate trough the landscape
