I remember, as a kid, watching many Italian Peplum movies on Saturday afternoons in Miami back in the 1960s on the old black and white television. They were usually mixed in with the Tarzan films, generally after the Kaiju films. Machiste, Ursus, even Tiger Joe Robinson, (who my Dad seems to have known back in the 1950s.) The Australian overdub of the Italian muscleman movie seems like a natural. I'll have to look it up next pension cheque day.
Stay safe and keep on carrying on.
We had them on Sunday afternoons on TV.
I was just in Copenhagen in August, lovely city. Bruce Spence was the gyro captain in Mad Max 2 & 3. Both sound fun, will look out for them,
The Pusher Trilogy is merciless and Hercules Returns is great fun.
I picked up Pusher, Pusher 2 and Pusher 3 many years ago. Great stuff. Great to see the director grow and continue to put out strong movies.
He has a unique vision for cinema, which is always interesting.
You should watch " Valhalla Rising " by Nicolas Winding Refn. Also with Mads Mikkelsen. There´s also " In China they eat dogs " with Kim Bodnia.
Thanks for the tips. 😀
i love the way Umbrella is developing their product. they were originally kinda cheap and cheerful, and was always glad of the material they put out, but it used to have no extras and you'd be lucky to get subtitles. Now they're practically the Criterion of
B/genre films and up there with folks like Arrow and Kino-Lorber when it comes to extras. That is one really chunky Box-set for a single film 'Hercules Returns. Can't wait to get it! was lucky to see Double Take some years earlier in Adelaide for their comedy interpretation of what i think was "Robot Monster" i loved that they were like a traveling comedia dell'arte (please excuse any misspelling of that!) where they made use of local identities and issues, localizing it for which ever crowd they were playing too. I wish they'd been able to release a lot of those public domain films with their soundtracks, cos i found with Hercules Returns i wasn't much bothered by the wrap-around story they gave it, just wanted them to get right smack into the parody, even if i appreciate any film giving those actors some chance to act. I wonder why they didn't use the actual voice actors as characters we could see? it is one of Australia's better comedies though. not sure i'd call Hercules one of the original LGBTQI+ heroes though, but i like that he could be, lol!
Yeah, Umbrella are doing great work and have been for 20 years. The box sets seem to be paying off for them. As for Hercules, the original myths make it clear that he was as gay as a tree full of rosellas.
@@terrytalksmovies---"a tree full of rosellas" had me coughing on my beer, lol! I've heard some crazy endearing Aussie colloquialisms before but that one takes the fairy bread.! i just hope i remember it for the perfect moment.
I love Hercules Returns - had it on VHS for many years - good to know I can now get it on DVD.
“You said this was a porn & prawn night - not a bloody barbecuuuuue!!”😂
The blu-ray transfer is crisp on this one, too.
Oh, those f*ckin' prawns
Yep. A fun film.
That hat is hilarious Terry.
Thanks. 🙂🙂
Terry, wasn't Nicholas Winding Refn part of the Dogme 95 movement? That might explain the way it was shot….
Nope. He was anti-dogme. www.theguardian.com/film/2000/mar/24/culture.features * *
There is a certain type of person who has a Scarface poster... also a taxi driver poster. Lol
It's like the people who worship Patrick Bateman from American Psycho.
I have a Goodfellas mug, more as I like the movie vs bad guy worship. Hate me lol
I'm surprised you haven't seen Trainspotting, it's a very good interpretation of the book. You can happilly skip the sequel, however. Maybe watch "The Acid House" instead, which is also a very good interpretation of an Irving Welsh novel.
Pusher looks good, I'm off to find if it's streaming anywhere.
There's always time to watch Trainspotting.
Great channel mic sounds terrible though
Yeah, I tried out a new one. Next video, back to the old one. Mea culpa.
ps 24 hour marathon session of the Fast and Furious movies? !! insanity! please have a doctor on standby!! you sure do like to challenge (aka torture) yourself!
I have a whole playlist of 24 hour marathons. I do one a year.
