OMG!!!! 51 YEARS AGO!!!! Mr. X is my dad!!!
twograces100 How dare you, Mr. X was MY dad!!! You'll be hearing from my attorney...
@@alevine1951 Bosh. Step aside! MY personal attorney was Bill Cullen's great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather [1716-1801]. There. Top THAT one.
@@alevine1951 is this true?? 😂😂
Maybe your brother/sister posted that and you don’t even know lol
I watched Bill Cullen on Blockbusters in the 80's. He was the funniest self deprecating man in entertainment. He was my favorite gameshow host of all time. He even was the original host of The Price Is Right.
Bill Cullen was a great game show host from my hometown of Pittsburg he had polio wear leg braces and they never showed him walking I have polio and wear leg braces Bill Cullen was inspiration to me
I had no idea of this! I’m glad he was an inspiration to you. I hope you are doing ok these days.
@@nancymontgomery8897Your wrong 13 years Bill NBC Monday thur Friday quiz when they introduced him at the beginning of the show was always sitting on a stool. The NBC management did want to show him walking. Back in those days they hide people with off Television. Do you that disabled people were not allowed in society in this country up until 1930. And that is when Fanklin Delano ROOSEVELT was President and as you know President had polio wore the 16 lbs of steel braces on each leg mercy one time. I'm a polio survivor and wear leg braces. We disabled people are still second class citizens in this racist white supremacists country and the disabled civil rights Bill The Americans with Dissabilities Act is being violated every fucking day in this racist country.
Enjoyable clip. Thanks for posting it.
Cullen is one of my all-time favorite game show hosts. Very likeable man.
I love these old game shows so much. I miss the golden age of television, when it was (near) squeaky clean.
Ms Palmer is so adorable when she tried to pronounce "simultaneously"
She was adorable, period. Why did/do so graceful, spontaneous and sincere exist?!
Just look at that happy expression on Bill Cullen's face; and the winner of the contest, is spot on!
Wow that winner REALLY looked like Bill Cullen.
These TV game show hosts like Garry Moore , Bill Cullen, Bud Collyer used to be familiar like old family friends. They’re all gone now and unknown to anyone under 50 at least in the weekly contemporary way. These game shows were almost like a family get together although as a kid I never knew any women as elegant as Arlene Francis( no relation) or Kitty Carlyle. They were high class sophisticated New Yorkers a kind of people who never passed through my hometown of Bugtussle.
It's not all that different from Woody Allen's Radio Days, where the people on the radio were thought to be 'special', among the elite, when being among the elite was aspirational. Today, the elite are increasingly looked at as being arrogant snobs.
Will the real Bill Cullen please stand up? Oh wait, wrong show.
That's my grandpa
I love IGAS!!!! It was on tv way before I was born. But my big brothers birthday is November 2 1960 (11/02/60) so I knew I had to comment.
"Even though you were losers, your Winstons will be waiting for you offstage."
Thanks, Gary!
A very rare sight: Unbeknownst to most of his audience, Bill walked with a marked limp from childhood polio. He was always behind a counter or podium and never shown walking. But here you can glimpse his hobbled gait for a brief moment just as he reached his "twin." Bill was an extremely likeable personality, and remembered fondly by those still around who remember him.
Glad I took the time to scroll down because I was about to post the same. And I am old enough to recall some of the game shows that he hosted.
Garry Moore said " these are the losers" and no one threw a tantrum or filed a lawsuit. No one sulked and said their feelings were hurt.
A lookalike contest makes for captivating radio listening.
Will.the real Unknown Comic please stand up? 😁😁😁
As for lovely Betsy Palmer...VERY DEEP SIGH ❤❤❤
One didn't see Henry Morgan at a loss for words very often.
I got the impression something had been going on with Henry prior to this. I had hoped to see it mentioned here someplace. Buzz Saw???
That was 👍
Flat tops were very common in 1960
Before I was born!
Wow; that guy really did look like Bill Cullen!
I didn't really see Mr. Griski's resemblance until they showed a head-on view of him while Bill was in profile.
“Be sure to vote and watch your vote count.” Nostalgia! Back when this was a democracy and your vote actually counted.
I used to watch the game shows back in the day. Bill was a favorite host. I'd be likely to watch the show simply because he was the host. He had a way of making even the dumbest game entertaining.
Your "Winston's" will be ready for you off stage. Wouldn't do that today.
The consolation prize was cases of Winston cigarettes. Times they have a changed.
Interesting to see Bill Cullen walking - they tried to avoid having him walk too far because of the polio. If you look closely, you can see Griski helping Bill back to his seat just as they go off camera.
This was a fun clip. Thanks for posting.
Mel Brooks has a great and very funny story about Bill & his walk. Easy to find on youtube.
@@lobitome He's told that story in a few different places, including when he was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" once. I think it had to do with an embarrassing incident on "Eye Guess", a show Bill hosted in the mid-60s. It happened after they had filmed a special celebrity episode.
I grew up watching Bill Cullen as host of his shows but I didn't realize how smart he was until I saw these 'pre-me' reruns. Total respect.
So many comments on Bill's limp, after a while it was upsetting. I only replied to the first ones, and now I wish I hadn't.
Bill Cullen hosted I’ve Got A Secret extremely briefly in 1976. I believe had he continued to host in 1978…
Marcelle Roulin would be in an episode, and her secret would be that she was painted by Vincent Van Gogh when she was a baby in 1888.
Marcelle lived until 1980, so she would have been eligible.
Bill did the WNBC morning show for many years. Does anyone know the years did hosted it. Also, this is one of the few times you'll see bill walk, even a little.
That's great !
What fun!
The winner seems to be a very nice guy.
The Unknown Comics
I did not vote in 1960, wasn't born yet 😃
Also, Matt Damon would be perfect for a Bill Cullen lookalike contest!
Dylan Sullivan
Matt Damon???? They don’t have similar type faces. I guess I don’t see it.
@@maryallison0509 I just looked up photos of them both and side-by-side, they actually resemble each other. You might be surprised.
This game show looks like something that would be fun to do nowadays.
It is surprising to see Bill walk onto the stage, as it was unfortunately very difficult for him.
A simpler time, very hokey: maybe we were happier and less cynical about everything then. I mean people enjoyed watching this sort of innocent and silly fun.
They never showed Bill walking because he had polio as a kid and had a profound limp.
6:16 Losers, cigarettes are waiting for you after the show.
A Ton of Cullens.
Wild
Mr Sacks lol
"Your Winstons will be waiting for you off-stage." at 6:19. How times have changed. They win a carton of cigarettes!
It's so funny that the prize is a carton of cigarettes.
That's pathetic. A carton of cigarettes back then cost, what? $2.00? I think there were other prizes that were not sponsors of that show, so they weren't mentioned.
Gary and Bill were good friends in real life.. Bill took over To Tell The Truth when Gary had to take a brief medical leave
The x
Jared Harris would win today.
A carton of Winston's and $80, was the grand prize, wow how times have changed.🚬💰
I have tried and tried. I do not think Henry fits at all on this show. He thinks he is funny, amusing. No, the opposite.
The most generic looking 50's guy contest...
Wow! My big "claim to fame" is that I look like Bill Cullen. Where's a gun I can put in my mouth.
Dad is 96 today! He loves seeing himself.
That is so awesome! I just discovered this game show on CZcams and really enjoy them. My dad was in the military in the 50’s and 60’s and he had the same haircut and glasses as well. Happy Birthday to your dad!❤️🥳
oh god bless him. this is a treasure and i always love when people who were on the show or knew or are related to them come in the comments
Awesome! Happy for yall!!
Hey!! Is he still alive???
