Maker's Mark itself has never really been my jam, but I like how flexible it can be with its many expressions produced from a single mash bill. Tonight we explore what Maker's Mark is like when's straight from the barrel, and if it's anything like most of its brethren, it'll be the best way to drink it.
This is a "rebroadcast" of our Facebook Live "Bourbcast". Better than a podcast, the bourbcast is a live video broadcast, interactive, and can be seen LIVE each Thursday at 7:00pm EST, at beautifulbourbon

I love the t-shirt. I like to say that whisky is internal disinfectant. 🥃
5:41 I know the reference - I'm 64. But all I remember about the song is that phrase, and the fact that I didn't like the song when it came out. 🙂
I'm not a Maker's Mark fan either. All I've had is the regular and the 46, but I've realized that the MM profile is too bright and metallic for me.
On CZcams you sounded fine all along.
16:05 Maker's Mark has a lower barrel entry proof than most distilleries - IIRC it's only 110 proof - which means that going into the barrel it already has more water in it than most bourbons. This, I suspect, is a factor in the thin mouthfeel.
18:29 To me that's a fire plug, and a hydrant is where you attach the garden hose. But then I speak Southern. 🤠
I hunted for Bernheim, regular or barrel proof, a couple of weeks ago when I had some unexpected fundage, and couldn't find it. That irked me, since it's been a couple of years since I had my one bottle of it (the regular proof) and I wanted to see if it's as good as I remember.

Excellent ideas there about the thin mouthfeel. Hadn't considered that. Bernheim is definitely going to be as good as you remember. It's just a really great pour. Sorry about the Donny & Marie reference. ha ha
