It's good that you are revisiting their early work--so you can see how they evolved. Insane thing is how polished they were from the start. Yes, they all came from other bands, but they dropped this after being together less than a year. The next one they posted, "Shadowmaker", was the breakthrough that got the world's attention, but this is a banger. You should find one of the live versions of this (there are at least two floating around on YT) and check it out. As usual with Lovebites, the live ones are even better.

Let's keep in mind that this was Lovebites' *First* release, *First* MV - released in *February of 2017* when they had been together as a band about 8 months! It showcases just how amazing this band was as musicians from the very beginning. You guys have gotten behind the curve. There are two videos out from their Live Resurrection performance in March of this year. And the Blu-Ray is going to be released 8/23. 'The Hammer of Wrath' is not the first song to appear in the LOVEBITES repertoire. There were other songs before 'The Hammer of Wrath': 'Inspire', 'Bravehearted' (was written by Haruna for her previous band DESTROSE), 'Liar' and 'Scream for Me' ( was written by Miyako for her previous band A DROP OF JOKER ). LOVEBITES began playing 'The Hammer of Wrath' in concert starting in 2016. After the band signed to a record label, the song appeared on their first studio album, 'Awakening from Abyss' (October 2017). Since the formation of the band (2016), Miyako (Mi-ya) has been a support musician. In this capacity, she participated in the recording of 'The Lovebites EP' (May 2017). Miyako became a permanent member of LOVEBITES in August 2017.

The song was written by Mao and Miho, Mao being their producer (former keyboardist of Lightbringer and Fuki Commune) who also does a third or so of the songwriting and arranging. They call him their sixth member. The work culture in Japan, especially in office jobs, can be extremely toxic and stressful. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_work_environment Hours worked have become shorter, although the social pressure is such that many Japanese workers won't even take the vacation days that they legally have. On top of that, nobody leaves before the boss leaves, and if the boss wants to go for a drink after work, you have to go if you want or not. (Though even that has improved a bit.) The consequences are that the Japanese, probably only surpassed by South Koreans, sleep the fewest hours on average of anywhere in the world (people are sometimes understanding if someone falls asleep at work), and that the work efficiency in offices sometimes isn't all that good.
Mao is not their producer, their producer is Steve Jacob's. Mao is a friend that collaborates and has written a few songs for them. Mao is the producer and principal songwriter and arranger for Lonesome Blue.

They listen to Mao's opinion and value it very much, but the final choice is still up to the ladies. As for the fact that Midori, Asami, Haruna, as a rule, come up with their own parts (guitars, drums, etc.) or polish those already proposed by them - I also read this several times in an interview.
