Thanks so much for including my Kill River, Rachel!!! It's always great to hear from you! I'm actually reading Sergio Gomez's sequel Halloween Slaughter right now. I always like to recommend my friend LJ Dougherty's indy espionage horror series starting with Beasts of the Caliber Lodge. Also Cameron Chaney's new Autumncrow High is amazing!
Always happy to have an excuse to gush about your books. Enjoy reading your other indie recs
Very excited for these end of year top 10s!!!!
Love 14 with Ray Porter! Thanks for the recs and the great video 😃
Such a good one
Yes! Please do a Part 2! A few of these are on my TBR !
Yay!
Yes, please do a part 2. 😊
I love your audio book recommendations .
always love seeing some indie recs! 📚🔪🩸
Lynne speaking here I just ordered Kill River on ebay can't wait to read it. Great selection of books. Happy Reading :)
I hope you enjoy it!
I've definitely added a few more books to my list now !
I'm also really curious about the book standing up just behind your shoulder . My eyes kept being drawn to the cover !
That's Beneath from Kristi DeMeester. Also recommend
Great list, Rachel. I still need to read something by Cameron Roubique.
I would love a part 2 or a favorite indie horror novella list.
I hope you enjoy Roubique's books. They are just fun
Thanks for the list, I definitely have to check out The Forgotten Island now ❤
I hope you enjoy it
More books for my list. 😄 Also, thanks for recommending 14 previously, I just finished it and loved it!
It's a good one
I read The Haar by David Sodergren last month and loved it. It was weird as hell but I had such a good time reading it. Adding The Forgotten Island to my list!
I definitely need to read more by him
Yes please for a part 2!✨🪓🔪
Fantastic list!! Tatter Demon is one I haven’t heard of but it sounds great. 👻👹🎃
I think you'd really like it
Thanks for the video, I needed a few more reccos!
Just finished the video, gotta get 14 and The Forgotten Island.
Have you ever done a deep dive on Peter Watts Blindsight and Echopraxia, I see the books behind you.
Also, please continue with the recco videos!
I need to do a deep dive into Watt's books but I fully admit that I'm intimated to do them justice
@@TheShadesofOrangeno worries, I read them like every 6 months or so since they came out, and still I get something new from them, so I definitely get how they can be daunting.
I would have to recommend my own books! (Dracula Ascending)😂 but joking aside, I would recommend the authors Amy Cross and Ambrose Ibsen (not necessarily for you because they write a lot of supernatural/haunted house stuff. But for your audience). Tim Meyer is also a good one. Rachel, I think you would like Paradise Club and Malignant Summer by him.
Always allowed! Dracula Ascending will definitely make another appearance in a video or two next year
@@TheShadesofOrange cool
Part 2 Pronto hon❤❤❤
Uh oh my TBR list just got longer! I added The Forgotten Island and all three Kill Rivers! Thank you for the recommendations.
I hope you enjoy them
Yeah, not sure what exactly constitutes "indie", but David Sodergren and E Reyes are two smaller authors I've read several books by and love them both. I really like The Halloween Grindhouse by Reyes (a short story collection) and even though it's a paranormal type story, House on Moon Creek Avenue is the only novel of his I read so far that you may enjoy too.
Speaking of short story collections, At Home with the Horrors by Sammy Scott is also really good, if you want a more extreme horror slant then based off your recs in this video I think you'd LOVE Night Prowler by Jon Athan (it's an AMAZING extreme slasher novel) as well as Camp Slasher by Don Padavona, and I adore Full Brutal by Kristopher Triana. I don't remember if you've read Alison Rumfitt or if she's even "indie", but both of her novels, especially her release from this year are really good.
Ranks for your recs
Thank you!👍👍👍📚🤖🚀 Where can one get hold of these books?
A lof of them should be on kindle unlimited
Oh wow! I was having a bit of a rough day today, but hearing your rave review of TATTERDEMON brought my grin back to light.
Aw happy to put a grin on your face today
14 sounds delightful, I’ll add it to the list.
It really is!
Not sure if it’s indie, definitely small press, but I loved the folk horror book The Forest by Lisa Quigley.
I'll have to look that one up
Thank you for the video, I had to grab pen and paper lol 😆
Second video, yes please
I'll work on it
can you please tell me the page count in 14 ? thank you
This is not a great list for audiobook listeners but The Nightmare Room is available on Audible Plus, FYI. Otherwise great list as always (esp. 14, so good plus the sequel, The Fold, is even better.)
Yes it can be harder to find accessible indie books. Some never get an audio format. I have another audio recommendation video coming so hopefully something on there
I listen to alot of audio books do you have a top 10 horror audio books??
I don't specifically have a top ten but I have a playlist of audio videos here... czcams.com/play/PL2LwW5lf7l6PgpXjY3z-1go6TaRx0D272.html
@@TheShadesofOrange just watched a few of these thanks! I actually just started listening to ghost radio. Love it
Yes I thought of Goddess of Filth but I know you probably didn’t include it bc it was a novella.
Yeah it absolutely would have made the cute if I included novellas
Great video. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! 🧞♂️
Thanks I did! But Canadians celebrate in October
if I were to read one it would probably be the one by vernon I like horror that actually delivers HORROR for example there was a well-publicized film a while back called the human centipede it turned out not to be not that horrifying or even very disgusting⚛😀
It's definitely a dark one!
A priest has a witchy friend? *mind blown* ;)
I know!
