- As a matchmaker, I ask every client and every person I interview prior to matching with a client what their top three priorities would be in a match. I also asked them about their deal breakers. Today I am sharing not the most common top three, but the top 10 priorities men share with me about what they are looking for in a partner. To narrow it down even more… because they have asked… I kept track of the top 10 list in men over 50. This study took me a year. Hope you enjoy today’s episode.

Love the list and will keep these in mind. However, here's where my "debbie downer" comes in. I have listened to men talk on and on about what they want only to observe them dating and marrying the exact opposite. As long as that woman looks "hot" to them, all else goes out the window. Btw I was raised the only girl with 5 brothers and 4 male cousins. I worked among men in very male orientated jobs. I've seen it all so I listen to what men say with a grain of salt and only as a secondary to their behavior.
I totally agree that the lists are not set in stone. I have had clients tell me they only date petite buxom blondes, and then send photos of their fiancé who is a tall, athletic brunette. She only wants to marry a guy with a great career and ends up with a starving artist, etc. People are very often willing to compromise on most of that list, which is why I have limited must haves to three top prioritizes. Chemistry is a list killer!

Not as you get older it only gets you so far and then its empty and depressing. If its a quick hookup then definitely but if its a long term thing then you gotta date for a while to know who your really getting with. Alot of people dont want to admit their problems and open up to their partner so if theres all kinds of secrets dishonesty and tension thats a red flag. Should be open and honest and if the person cant accept you for your flaws and tries to change you into someone your not thats a red flag. Gotta validate eachother and put the other first thats a must you gotta put them first.

2. Honest
3. Willing to go for a walk
4. Not a chain smoker
5. Doesn't pester me all day while I am working
5. Someone who actually cares.
6. Likes hugs and hand holding
7. Doesn't say "relationship " all the time.
8. Someone who knows how to do things. It doesn't really matter what. It could be anything. If she knows how to do things and can figure things out, that's great.
9. Be a mom with respectful children.

A very short list of candidates works for me. I don't like to have too many choices.
I used to have almost no requirements at all. I fell in love with someone who heated me up some raviolies from a can. 17 years later, I was divorced. She got the car, the van, the kids, and Alimony for live, while I got some scrap metal. I have been single for years. A few more years won't hurt.
I have spent 14 years getting to know someone. She got divorced 4years ago. Yesterday I found out she has a BF. I can deal with being single the last few years of my life.

But in actuality - this is also what I think most women genuinely want. So why is it so difficult to turn these hypothetical wants + needs into actual reality? I'm thinking the "get real" level of your clients [sorry couldn't think of a better terminology] must be very different from what's running around out here in the real world, because I have yet to even see secondhand via my close girlfriends that are my age group and dating that this is what men want, never mind in my, admittedly limited, firsthand experience...
I guess as with everything in life, it comes down to the numbers.

Of course it’s a number game the more people you meet the more likely you are to meet somebody you connect with. My clients (the correct word,) are encouraged to date once a week. My matchmaking clients get one match a month from me and I ask them to fill in the rest of the weeks from meeting people on their own… If they’re serious about finding somebody.
