- The Simpsons "The Trouble with Trillions" Season 9 Episode 20.
While Flanders does his taxes on the morning of January 1st, Homer does them at the last possible minute. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Krusty's "because I'm an idiot" line has stuck with me my whole life, the delivery just gets to me.
...because you're an idiot? :-)
I say this in my head or out loud too often 😄
"If I don't see it it's not illegal."
Will live by this from now on.
We pay our net bills, and we'd rather watch it this way
Greg Barry Fox just monetizes it. They prefer not to interfere with advertising opportunities.
He only got audited because his tax report accidentally fell into the wrong box.
" If I don't hear it, it's not illegal!"🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Look at all those idiots... I paid my taxes over a *YEAR* ago!” Wise words, Homer. Very wise.
*morons
That was last year's taxes, dad. You have to pay again this year
That can be a thing though. You can use any refund you get to prepay next years taxes.
Doubt homer did that though
@@ladyfire44 No, because you see, I went ahead and... year-wise I was counting forwards from the last previous... D'OH!
I put the tax form on your "To Do" pile a month ago.
The "Bart, you were wounded in Vietnam" kills me everytime 😂
“Cool!”
My favourite part is that Homer can sum to 9 correctly despite not being able to count his children.
Homer alternates between declarative and executive memory problems
Mines where he stops for a hot dog while rushing to the post office before midnight.
*count.
He does that for tax write off dummy. The more dependents, the bigger the credit.
The joke is that he’s feigning ignorance to claim more dependents, not that he can’t count.
I want to live someplace with a hot dog vendor that is open at midnight.
You want to live in New York City?
Los Angels on a Friday night?
Athens Greece too!
Mission District SF got you covered.
Dunno about hotdogs but there’s some 24 hour donut spots here in Portland
I love the part where Homer have all the time in the world to buy a hot dog.
So, any city center?
More to the point why is there a hotdog vendor open minutes to midnight?
as ridiculous as his claims were at least he managed to keep the "9 kids" part consistent
Everyone always edits out that sad little moment of Marge hanging the painting back up and going “you sure had a lot of talent”
It's like when Bart runs over Impervo the Painless feet in the "Bart Carny" episode with Hitler's Car. Never see it in the reruns.
Professor: Sir why did you wait until the last minute to revise for your exams?
Students: Because I’m an idiot! Happy?
If I studied earlier, it was already forgotten.
@@dragonmartijn same
Found the french speaker!
pfft, I studied for my exams over a year ago
@@mfbjo6854 Mfbjo...?
Best part is Homer trying to rationalise how he had already paid his taxes a year ago 😂🤦♂️
That's actually what Trump did. The reason he only owed $750 in 2016 is because he had overpaid in previous years.
And he still paid $3.5 million.
I love how it's not an audit, it's a severe audit.
I just love how Homer’s return falls directly into a bin labeled “severe audit”.
I work at the IRS, that is how we sort returns, of course we open everything first.
Typically all returns marked for severe audit either are for the wealthy and people who make extreme errors or signs of fraud.
@@JCbklyn707 Yep you must work at the IRS lol
@@JCbklyn707 As if wealthy people would be severely audited when it comes to taxes (or anything really). In what world do you live?
@@lucas.soorholtz he actually works there you are just an internet whiner I wonder who’s opinion is more important
@@miless.9429 He does NOT work there. Hell, I give you 100 dollars if I get proof that he actually does. It is that unlikely. He is just someone posting random shit on the internet. Fine, me too. That makes us even.
Difference is: I am actually making a point. Tax authorities in all advanced economies do NOT severely audit rich people. For which there is more than ample evidence. If you think that they do you are just deluding yourself.
“Ok Marge, you require 24 hour nursing care.
Lisa’s a clergyman.
Maggie’s 7 people.
And Bart was wounded in Vietnam.”
😂
Nice. I also watched the video.
This is all so unnecessary as he can claim them as dependents anyway
The stupidest tax lie ever.
nothing like spoiling a joke before I've got to it
@@icelineman well at least he was consistant with the 9 children's first estimate lie.
I like how the "to do pile" is not there before 😂
If he hasn't heard about it, it's not there. Literally.
Gotta love cartoon logic... Homer wears a watch only for one scene when it will be convenient too.
@@missquark_ Well as another comment mentioned the scene is from Homer's point of view. So it only appears when he notices it.
Especially that gasp when he sees it.
Kents smug to shocked face change when he sees his accountant always cracks me up
I absolutely love how Homer treats Lisa like an ignorant young child when she's mentally light years ahead of him...comedy gold
To be fair most would also assume that if they knew nothing about either of them, since Homer is the dad and Lisa is his 8 year old daughter.
he even lowers himself more to the child's level 😂
I like how you explained that even though you we all got it. Gomedy cold.
1:20 I absolutely love this part. You can see the gears turning in Homer's head and just going "big paper ball FUCK IT". Always cracks me up.
It's poetic how he manages to toss his return into the bin at the last second......but then it takes one last bounce when its dumped into....severe audit.
So it’s poetic they created bins in the IRS mailrooms that don’t exist just to further the plot? Ok.
"if I don't hear you, it's not illegal"
I love how the to do pile was not there until Marge mentioned it. Homers point of view xD
With his forgetfulness, Marge should've been better off doing the taxes herself since she's in charge of the family's finances.
"I put it on your to do pile a month ago" and husband saying in a high voice "I have a to do pile!?"
As a new wife, this hits hard now 😂
"I have a to-do pile???" 😂😂
“Shut up shut up if I don’t hear you it’s not illegal” great life advice
Maggie is seven people....
Well he did say they had nine kids.
Jury notice comes in the mail "If I don't see it it's not illegal"
They can’t prove you saw it even if you opened it and threw it away. Even if you left your fingerprints and DNA all over it. Even if you were on camera reading it and throwing it away. Because they would never spend money to pursue anyone that far over jury duty. They’d just find someone else. Also it’s insanely easy to be disqualified from jury duty if you want to be.
I worked as a mail sorter for the IRS...we didn't actually start stamping letters with the date received until a week after deadline.
This is so simple.... do you mind explaining? Like, normally you don’t stamp a date. When something is late, you stamp the date received to show it’s late. But you were nice and only considered it late when it was a week late?
@@UserCommenter Yes. This was some twenty years ago so maybe things changed, but there was a sorting policy. If you just sent a regular 1040 or 1040a or 1040ez, there was no dating on the form until about April 23. After that, or if you sent certain forms or just a letter at any time, we had a stamp with the received date on it. And sometimes we'd have to save the envelope with the postmark too.
@@pjabrony8280 cool :)
"BUSINESS GIFTS! Here you go, keep using nuclear power!"
Did you see a scary picture in your picture book
Dad!!??
Lisa tolerated that very well. I would have been pissed.
it's not even a picture book!!!!
@@tranquil_cove4884 That would be the joke, yes
@@TikiFoamy38 that was before the snowflake era.
Gotta love the joke where he legit knows his deductions 😂
This is why I start mine right after Christmas.
Shut up, Flanders.....
@@d.pierce.6820 Okely dokely
I’m impressed Marge retained so many receipts and presented them so neatly to Homer, like it was the president’s daily briefing. All neat and ready to be consumed, only to be ignored in it’s entirety for the expedience of time.
With Homer's forgetfulness, Marge would've been better off doing those taxes herself. She's the one in charge of the Simpsons' finances. With Lisa's genius in math and Marge's knowledge in finances, they would've gotten the taxes done faster and mailed it right away.
"cause im an idiot,happy?" XD
I have great respect for people who admit they've done something stupid. It's how they improve themselves.
was this before or after the krusty in trouble with tax episode
Quote this regularly
I love how when I was a kid I didn’t get the severe audit part
And now I work in finance it’s the funniest part
0:49 That gasp was hilarious 😆
Ooooh. Myron is Kent Brockman’s accountant. I just got that joke. I always thought he was just another frantic random person late on their taxes.
Lesson to be learned people, Don't be a Homer... lol
Remember, no employee wants to be a homer.
Watching this as a kid made me incredibly scared of doing my taxes
Watching this as an adult makes me scared to even live on my own.
my favorite thing about this episode? 0:52 to 1:52 LITERALLY last minute, when he starts on it. Also, yay for day right after
This comment deserves more likes
0:48 that gasp is just absolute perfection! 🤣
1:28 also that is one of the most gruesome car accidents I have ever seen 😅
Maggie is 7 people??!! hahah
"Marge required 24 hours of nursing care, Lisa is a clergyman, Maggie is seven children and Bart was wounded in Vietnam."
It does add up to nine! 😁
Good thing I did my taxes last month.
I guess Maggie is 7 people now
The irony is homer's taxes are probably stupid easy, He's head of household and the only source of income, has 4 dependents, wife , 3 kids, claim 3 child tax credits. Mortgage interest credit and boom taxes done and on time. If he really wants to get nitty gritty with deductions he can file an amended tax statement later but as long as he had his primary return done on April 15th.
Another irony is that though Homer is the only source of income, Marge is the manager of the family's finances and should've never asked him to do them due to his track record of forgetting. She should've been able to do the taxes herself with Lisa's help and turned them into the IRS months ago.
Maybe Homer prepaid his taxes.
yearwise i was counting forward from the last previous
"Did you see a scary picture in your picture book?"
“Severe audit”
O o f
*if i dont see it, it's not illegal*
I do my tax returns so early that when the actual deadline comes around I always worry I was paying last years.
A clown paying taxes ?! Now ive seen everything 😄
looks like Krusty learnt his lesson from from the last time he had tax troubles ;)
He co-owns a restaurant food chain named after him. He's paying more taxes than most.
The taxes on Kamp Krusty alone must be enormous.
@@JWIZZY4real i doubt it. Krusty is crooked.
Oh you have no idea
Granted he rushed but he got his taxes in on time AND had a hot dog 😊
"I have a to-do pile?!"
Gaaaasp!
1:07 best line ever
A post office open till midnight? Clearly a cartoon
0:30 area beside the couch is empty 0:48 - 'To do' pile appears magically out of nowhere
Just like real life
That’s the joke
We're seeing this from Homer's perspective, obviously.
A wizard did it
I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder
The best Homer has ever been with math
You gotta love cartoons cause it's funny to see a vendor sell hot dogs at midnight.
Even worse , the post office
I have never seen a more accurate description of me handing in taxes. From "oh I still got plenty of time" to "where is all that fucking receipts" to the last minutes of terror where I just dump everything together just to hand in ANYTHING. It is scary.
This is me when I save my assignments to the last minute
No one talking about how Kent Brockman's accountant waited until the last minute.
1:45 : Kawhi Leonard's buzzer beater.
You can't blame Homer for not knowing he has a to-do pile. The pile isn't there at the beginning of the scene and then just appears out of nowhere.
I have adopted regularly saying “Did you see a scary picture in your picture book?”
Ah the good ol' days, back when this show was genuinely funny (the phrase beating a dead horse comes to mind)
Mmmmmm...dead horse.
I'll give you that you at least have the decency to admit it. Which earns you neither upvotes OR insults from me.
Honestly, the "Simpsons are bad now" horse is so far beyond dead. It's basically an ugly stain on the pavement.
And each person that comes along and stamps on the stain gets their shoes messy then grins at bystanders for their praise.
@@FFKonoko it is bad bro
@@FFKonoko It's become a cliché to say it, but no-one can deny that there's truth to it - The Simpsons is LONG dead in terms of creativity and relevance for its own sake.
If Maggie is 7 people then they really do have 9 children
"TAXES? Isn't this the line for Metallica?"
No, because you see I went ahead and... year wise I was counting forward from the last previous... DOH!!!
😂😂😂
I put the tax forms on your "To Do" pile a month ago.
@@ladyfire44 I HAVE A "TO DO" PILE?!?
As a kid, this episode taught me to pay my taxes on time. Way more than school ever did. 😂
Alright guys, its that time of the month again.
The time on his wrist watch wasn’t anywhere close to midnight
"if i don't hear you it's not illegal" i will use this advice every tax season.
Why can't Marge do the taxes herself instead of Homer because she's more organise and never leaves things at the last minute unlike her husband who is lazy, forget things and idiot.
She's also at home all day, she doesn't even drive the kids to school.
I agree. Marge should've done those taxes herself and not rely on Homer. She know how lazy and forgetful he is.
I just realised "Miron" is Kent's accountant.
Me too. I thought it was just some guy who was also in line to pay taxes to show the chaos of the place.
@@carultch I always assumed he was one of Kent's production team members due to Kent's annoyance with him.
Homer getting his priorities right as usual
every time I have homework due the next day 😂
They cut the scene where Marge says "You have so much talent, girl "
1:52 Homer deserved that. 😂😂😂
Let's face it, we all had a bit of Krusty in us at some point in our lives.
I cant believe Hans Moleman wasnt injured
Just left the post office. There will never be a year for the rest of my life where I’m not reminded of this around or during tax day. I’m only 23 and I always end up waiting until the last day to actually fill in and mail my tax forms.
I wish I could find a german dub version of this so I can show this to my mom. homer simpson's character, behaviour and appearance is so close to my dad. And my mom and bro are tax consultant. this scene is perfect😂
If your mom is a tax consultant, why does you dad do the taxes?
@@Enaroniabecause women are not reliable

Press 4 for the GASP
I didn't understand this as a kid and 30 years later I still don't understand it
they keep skipping a scene where Marge puts the painting up looks at it and says "You really had a lot of talent kid."
What is the point of making the people calculate their taxes why can't the government do it itself like in a normal country? They have to check whether it's done correctly anyway.
Because they want to make it more difficult for people to claim tax benefits. The lazy will just get taxes taken out of their paycheck and never file for exemptions.
You have to do it yourself in Canada as well.
Because we’re not a nanny state yet
homer can't change shirts without getting a head trauma.
I love how Homer is funny
It's not actually possible to pay in advance is it? With some things you can pay in advance like paying all 12 months of rent up front.
You can, still gotta file
Kinda a waste of money if you overpaid. Basically loaning the government money without interest
I have a “to do” pile?!
Just watching this gets me stressed
1:45 Foreshadowing the movie!
1:11 me pulling out bullshit from my brain 1 hour before deadline on assignment
Krusty: because I'm holding my money overseas, happy?
1:08 that's actually pretty accurate aside from Marge needing nursing care
This is how NOT to file your taxes. 😂
If I don't see it, it's not illegal.
paying your Animal Crossing depts to Tom Nook be like:
Marge should have known better tho to leave the taxes to homer
