Steven Spielberg exists, creates and we all are better for it. Thank you so much for the lives you’ve touched and humanity you’ve enhanced.
Congratulations to the Hollywood Hall of Famer, Mr. Steven Spielberg.
@@darveaircraig-grady1394 indeed!
I love Spielberg but speak for yourself. Not everyone loves his films - and that's ok. You don't speak for everyone else. You only speak for yourself.
I love Spielberg films generally but this movie was awful. Boring long art house film. The mom character was a kooky nutcase
No one saw his movie btw
So happy I got to see Steven win during my lifetime. The last time he won best director, I was 9, and what 9 year old watches award shows? Lol. Steven is my favorite celebrity, and I love watching him win awards because I love watching how sincere he is. I can't wait to see The Fabelmans. I am sure it will be amazing.
i just adore him, always so humble ❤
He's a humble pedophile 🤣
Hey idk if this is weird but can i get your instagram? You're pretty🫠
So happy for Spielberg! Living LEGEND!!!
The Fablemans deserves a lot of love because I felt every heart and spirit that Steven Spielberg put in his movie and happy that he won. It's beautifully crafted, inspired me to be a storyteller like him and I know his parents will love how they were portrayed. One of his greatest masterpieces and hoping he will win his third Academy Award.
In 1999, Steven Spielberg said he had been thinking of directing a film about his childhood for some time. Titled I'll Be Home, the project was originally written by his sister Anne Spielberg. He explained, "My big fear is that my mom and dad won't like it and will think it's an insult and won't share my loving yet critical point of view about what it was like to grow up with them." In 2002, Spielberg said he was nervous about making I'll Be Home: "It's so close to my life and so close to my family - I prefer to make films that are more analogous. But a literal story about my family will take a lot of courage. I still think I make personal movies even if they do look like big commercial popcorn films." Spielberg later revealed in November 2022 that his parents had also been "nagging" him to make a film about their lives prior to their deaths. In 2004, while working on Munich, Spielberg told screenwriter Tony Kushner his life story, with Kushner telling him in response: "Someday you're going to have to make a film about this." Coincidentally, a line referencing Spielberg appears in Kushner's play Angels in America. The 80-90 page plot outline for The Fabelmans was worked on in 2019 during filming of Spielberg's 2021 film version of West Side Story. Work on the screenplay for The Fabelmans began on October 2, 2020, during the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and lasted for two months, ending in December 2020. Kushner reflected on the experience, saying, "We wrote three days a week, four hours a day, and we finished the script in two months: by leagues the fastest I've finished anything. It was a blast. I loved it." Spielberg, at that time, felt that the climate caused by the pandemic convinced him that the time was now right to make the film, saying, "I started seriously thinking, if I had to make one movie I haven't made yet, something that I really want to do on a very personally atomic level, what would that be? And there was only one story I really wanted to tell ... My life with my mom and dad taught me a lesson, which I hope this film in a small way imparts ... Which is, when does a young person in a family start to see his parents as human beings? In my case, because of what happened between the ages of 7 and 18, I started to appreciate my mom and dad not as parents but as real people." He gave drafts of the script to his sisters, Sue and Nancy, to ensure that their memories be included in the story and that the details in the film were portrayed as accurately as possible.
On the meaning behind the family name "Fabelman", Kushner (who came up with that name) said, "Spielberg means play-mountain; 'spieler' is an actor in Yiddish, and a 'spiel' can be speech or can be a play ... I wanted to have some of that meaning, and I've always liked the German word 'fabel,' which means fable. And because the movie is autobiographical for Steven but it isn't an autobiography, it's not a documentary, so there's a fictional element as well. So I thought that 'Fabelman' was a nod to that." Principal photography began in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in Los Angeles on July 17, 2021, lasting for 59 days until ending on September 27, 2021.
Oliver Stone has won 3 Golden Globes for Directing.. but didn't win his 3rd Oscar in 1991 for JFK. Don't be suprised if James Cameron wins at the Oscars. Nobody has won 3 or more Oscars for Directing in a [very] long time so don't be suprised if he dosen't get a 3rd win.
@@patr70 The Oscar voters has better opinion than anybody else and I trust them.
@@jwelch5742 Well.. it's too bad, how [bad] movies in general have been the last 5 years. The 80s, 90s, and 00s, were [loaded] with good movies. I am amazed at how absolutely forgettable and boring most movies have been the last 5 years. 🤤😨
@@patr70 This is why I don't trust anymore. So people don't appreciated the Oscars winners like me.
What a living legend!! So glad he is still going strong, making great movies!
Congratulations to Steven. He won 3 Golden Globes in 11 years.
Steven Spielberg won 9 Golden Globe Awards. It say at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_and_nominations_received_by_Steven_Spielberg#Golden_Globe_Awards.
@@jwelch5742 9? What a legend!
He's such a kind man with great humanity.
The Fableman was soooo good. Congratz to the GOAT
Legendary. Plus, a kind good person
While he’s still alive, give all the love and thanks to one of the greatest storytellers to exist
i love steven spielberg
Saving private Ryan, Lincoln, and bridge of spies always makes me cry 😭. God bless you Mr. Spielberg
Imagine the countless hours this man has entertained and touched our lives. So very deserving of this award for such an honest story
Probably the best film I've seen in the past two years
So happy for Steven!
I saw this movie alone. For reasons known only to me, my Mom and Brother didn't go. From the start to the finish (and with 8 others in the theater) I was truly mesmerized. Thank you Mr. Spielberg. I'll never be the same Kevin ever again.
A film about the power of film from the greatest filmmaker of our time.
But enough about Tommy Wiseau.
he's not the greatest, far from it actually, but perhaps the most priveleged.
Love him so much
The pianist recognized he could not walk off a legend of cinema!
This man and his art has been a part of my life for 42 years.
This man has been making movies since before I was born and STILL is consistent with his work 🙌🏽
I'm happy and honored to know this man lived and created in my lifetime. He will go down in history
Hands down, one of the greatest directors & thank you for the Yiddish🤙🏽
Spiel berg is the greatest film maker to ever lived so happy him there no one that deserves it more 👏🏽👏🏽🏆.
So deserved!! Hope he wins the Oscar as well
He doesn’t deserve an Oscar for this movie. I think The Daniels are more deserving.
The Golden Globe Awards 🌎🏆 was fantastic tonight. Congratulations for the people that won an award. Congratulations for the people that didn't get an award. It's not about wining an award. It's about working hard to get here tonight. Therefore. Congratulations to everyone.
I’m in shock that he still gets exited to win a award till this day. Very humble man
My favorite director
I love you Steven Spielberg!!! The first director I knew about since Jurassic Park.Hes not only spectacular he's also underated sexy!!my all time superdupermega crush..He and MJ... super legends
The absolute king of his medium. There will never be another Spielberg. Despite my best efforts.
Steven Spielberg is the man
A movie legend that I hope will continue to make more movies in the decades to come!
Steven spielberg is the best he made one of my favorite childhood movies
So emotional !!
Love and appreciate you, Mr. Spielberg. Much more success for you...
What a class act and amazing talent. We are so lucky to be able to say we lived through the Steven Spielberg Era.
Congratulations Steven! I was so happy when he won!
So happy for him. Always root for him. The most bankable director...ever? So many good memories over the years.
Congrats Spielberg! You are a legend!
My favorite director of all time with Denis Villeneuve, Christopher Nolan, Sam Mendes and Guillermo del Toro
The Fablemans - what an amazing movie and story!!
I love this movie. So honest and funny and at times hard. Imagine if Spielberg had never ended up making movies. Imagine all the fantastic films we would have missed. His films are not only entertainment- they are educational and therapeutic and full of the eternal hope that humans carry in their soul to live in this world. ❤
He should have won for West Side Story.
He got it last year.
I remember seeing James Lipton draw parallels between Close Encounters and Steven’s own life and relationship with his parents on Steven’s episode of Inside the Actor’s Studio, and it was the first time anyone had pointed it out to him. His reaction in that moment was really something… worth a watch, the clip is floating around on CZcams still, I’m sure.
He really is a true gem. I’d love to one day meet him :)
So well deserved 🥹 Next up the Oscars!
The Best 🔥🔥
An actual living legend. Thank you, Steven. Seems as invigorated and wiser than ever.
Of course. ❤
Thank you Steven Spielberg for your legacy but also thank you for universal studios
Even after all of his awards and accolades through the years, this Golden Globe seemed to mean the most to Spielberg. I am happy for him.
The Golden Globes were tonight? On a Tuesday??? Damn. 🤣
I know I’m so upset I missed it I’m so mad really what the f?!
Great speech. Can’t wait to see the movie.
Awesome
Congratulations, Steven Spielberg!! :D
❤❤❤❤❤
Great movie… I miss movies that don’t require special effects and just stick to the basics of great story telling.
Him and Marty r universally respected as artists and humans....2 things most celebrities can't achieve much anymore
Greatest director of all time!
not even close
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Such a shame this movie and west side story didn't make much money. Both were terrific
Now that Steven won Best Director and Best Drama for The Fabelmans at the Golden Globes and that I just found out that one of his old school movies, Jurassic Park, won the Kids Choice Award for Favorite Movie, I would like to join the "STEVEN SPIELBERG IS EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE DIRECTOR" club.
GOAT
He won for a movie that not a lot of people saw.
Should’ve won the oscar.
GOAT and the anti James Cameron. Humble ah, class act, LEGEND. Actually, criminally *under rewarded tbh!
Oh, come on. JC adores him too and they’re friends. You should see the long form DGA interview they did together celebrating Spielberg’s career to get a better sense of him these days.
Thank you for saving private Ryan Mr. Spielberg 😢
1:50 spielberg: "everybody sees me as a success story"
everyone: .......... hmmm........ okay.......
This man is a god
I hope he wins his third Oscar this year (not considering he should have won it a long time ago...)
Fourth Oscar. He won Best Picture and Best Director for Schindler's List and Best Director for Saving Private Ryan
Make that, 6 Oscars.
It really is a wonderful film and thoroughly enjoyed it. Steven has picked up that classic film momentum again since West Side Story and after the arguably disappointing "The Post" from a few years back. I think David Lynch playing the legendary John Ford in "The Fabelmans" could have snuck in for the shortest screen time Best Supporting Actor nomination on record. It was that good.
Oakes Fegley should have been there
All award shows need to allow at least 3 minutes/ winner…it’s very disrespectful to cut them off until then…notice no piano for Steven!
I’m just thinking you don’t EVER cut off Steven.
Yes… no chance they would play him off
sherri, Harris, jones, abbangger
Good for him for not giving his views on politics.
Who were the other nominees ?..it's a shame they cut all that out now !
Steven Spielberg is a legend Im so disappointed that he's not directing Indiana Jones 5 anyone else
Yeah, it’s disappointing he won’t return to direct Indiana Jones 5.
@@laurajones1773 I Honestly am not impressed with the Indiana Jones 5 Trailer compared to kingdom of the crystal skull 2008 trailer there's just no comparison in my opinion
🌱
No pianos hurrying Spielberg off stage...
There's a reason.
@@NeoConnor1 are you suggesting that Spielberg is secretly the piano player?
No. Because he has more than earned the right to finish his speech without interruption.
And the award for MOST GERMANS KILLED IN A DIRECTORS MOVIES goes to Steven Speilberg!!!!
❤️❤️🫶🏻🫶🏻💙💙
He did not mention John Williams?
When the movie won Best Drama, he did.
0091
shouldn't he have about a dozen Globes and about 6 Oscars?...seriously, Hollywood?
Lol
professor
Congrats to him, really. 🎊🍾🎉 But in my opinion, with all due respect, he should have won for Best Screenplay, and let Baz Luhrmann win for Best Director for Elvis. But still, I love Steven and Baz though
Very disappointed the Daniels didn't get the win, but congrats to Spielberg.
Just be happy that it wasn't James Cameron.
The Daniels made a movie that Spielberg hasn't made in over 10 years
@Justin 0ldman that's exactly what a groomer would say
@Justin 0ldman Oh. You're one of THOSE guys
It was a lost cause from the start. Hollywood loves a circlejerk movie like the Fablemans.
GOAT 👑🐐
3ab
I like Steven Spielberg, but the Daniels were robbed.
Eh. They got the Oscar. Steven deserved this.
Steven Spielberg steals the top category and won Best Director for of a motion picture from either Searchlight Pictures, Universal, Columbia or None of The Above. FOX or NBC has not comment it yet how since West Side Story remake has The Fablemans in his honor......We'll stay tuned for that......
Love Spielberg but the Daniels wuz robbed.
Agreed. Plus EEAAO was robbed of winning Best Motion Picture Comedy/Musical.
I've met Steven Spielberg - you will never meet a nicer man - he's truly a gentle and kind person. However, while the Fabelmans was a decent film, it did not deserve Best Picture (drama), not in a million years. Some would say Elvis was a better picture, but I would say Top Gun Maverick was superior to all of them (haven't seen Tar so....). Top Gun was also superior because it was adored by all - the critics and the audience alike and made a mountain of money. This, I think, is why the public doesn't watch these awards shows anymore... the public and the press has different ideas on what makes a film great. In 20 years no one will be watching the Fabelmans... heck, no one is watching it now. In 20 years, people will still be watching Top Gun Maverick just like its predecessor is still watched to this day.
Unbelievable. That banshee movie was so so boring.
I liked it but tbh I get why most a lot weren’t into it. It’s more of a critics choice
Happy to see him win but I preferred Daniels for the win
I hope James Cameron wins for Avatar.
Meh
Of course, he does. It's in the Bible.
So a movie that flopped wins best director but ryan coogler cant even get a nomination? Even though angela won best actress? What w joke
A movie being a flop dosent necessarily mean it’s a bad film
At this point it's a jerkfest. No one even saw this movie lol
I did and loved it
I did. Loved it. My wife brought it for me as a surprise. This film is a love letter to Steven's parents and the power of cinema. If his films ever meant anything to you, you should see this film. It's one of Steven's best
