the fact people who weren't into anime 10 years ago don't recognise Toriko is always funny to me, had a whole generation of shonen pretty much to itself and still failed to be remembered

Remember there are filler episodes... So Goku being there wasn't filler but it was a special. So there are specials and filler
Hajime no Ippo is a boxing manga and an example of a really amazing manga being longer than One Piece
One Piece as of today is currently 1,113 chapters long, while Hajime no Ippo is a huge 1,454 chapters long and is STILL ONGOING like One Piece.

The longest anime is Sazae-san, it has +8100 episodes and has been in broadcast since 1969

10:03 The longest anime that is still running today started in 1969 and is called "Sazae-san". The only thing ik is that its a familiy's daily life type show but other than that the longest running is OP with around 25 years now.

One piece is actually the 10th longest anime, but most others are long running children series, some familiar ones would be Pokemon and Case Closed. The longest has ran for 53 years and has about 7900 episodes.
