She's now Yonsei student, soon to be 2nd grader. Due to my financial situation I couldn't let her spend her summer vacation in home country with her family & friends. Beginning your talk I felt like my daughter is feeling abandoned. I hope she's doing fine in Korea. Btw, she's Mongolian.

I entirely relate to the lack of social stimulus, as I also entered graduate school right during the pandemic and had to do the entire degree from home. I was really looking forward to getting out of my parents' house and going back to academia, and I never got to be on campus. I didn't make any new friends through my classes, and even though things have opened up much more around me, I still haven't been able to meet people and start dating. And that last part really sucks because i've never been able to date.
You do you girl! It is our time that we self-reflect and discover what we want for ourselves. We deserve a better life, and a better hope for the future. It's okay to go through what we go through. Learning and understanding from our experiences is what makes us a stronger person. I wish you the best!

Nowadays education is too hard and competitive that most of us don't even get time to analyze what we really want to do or become in life. And while deciding our career path when things are not stable is personal life, it can just hit really hard on you. Never ending frustration and sadness eats away all the creativity. All the grading systems just sucks really, there is no single student from a single country claiming that the grading system is so awesome that you get motivated to learn something and study hard because it's interesting.... Congratulations, Kelsey! Thank you for sharing. I am relieved that you're becoming more self aware and wiser as times passes. It takes courage to share personal problems to the public and to get help. Unfortunately, it takes luck and multiple tries to find the right psychologist and SSR inhibitors (type and dose). Sadly, the wrong person can say one thing and exacerbate depression or the medication doesn't seem to work...also, a big part of winning against depression is attitude and gratitude. The looming dark cloud is always going to be trying to rain 🌧 on us but it will get sunnier when we truly care about ourselves. There will always be peaks and valleys on the road of life. It's normal to have tough days, the key is to never give up. 🌻
Oh yeah uni during the pandemic was just a depression sess pit for so many, thankfully I too have gotten better now and I'm glad you're doing good too! 👍
My children also experienced college during Covid. What should of been years of growth and explanation quickly became dull and colorless. My daughter especially was affected by this. Depression was a very real companion to her which she still struggles with. Kelsey you made it! You are a beautiful young woman who is stronger than you give yourself credit for. I wish I could tell you that life will be all smooth from this day forward but I can’t. Just know that these years of struggle and hardship have given you the tools to deal with whatever may come in the future. For those of us who have been on the journey with you we could see your pain. That only makes us that more proud of you. So damn proud. Thank you for having the courage to share and the perseverance to push through.

For me, I have the opposite concern. I really enjoyed online class and feel like something is wrong with me because I couldn’t care less about leaving the house and interacting with people at uni. I’m not depressed or mentally suffering, so i think it’s just me…perhaps it’s because I have a big family and my brother is practically my bestie. And I’ve got a secure group of friends already. But I don’t know. I just don’t feel that pressing need to go out. Seeing others go through a rough time while I wasn’t, just makes me feel kinda disconnected. I’m so weird.
congrats kelsey on graduating!!! your story kinda hit me bc i graduated last year so i graduated in 3 yrs instead of 4+. i was supposed to study abroad at yonsei but was unfortunately canceled bc the pandemic started that year :( it was very rough for me bc i worked so hard to get scholarships and grants. then, i graduated and my mental health actually deteriorated and got sooo much worse, especially my anxiety. graduating during a pandemic is surely tough and it got the best of me since it was so hard to find a job(still looking). i’m really taking in your words since i’m still dealing with bad anxiety and hopefully i can be in a better mental state soon🙏
Thank you for this vídeo, Kelsey! I have had depression that interfered severely with my social and academic life, and the pandemic affected me a lot as well. I’m behind in college, all my friends already graduated, so that’s been hard, but in the end I know I should be proud of myself, I’m still fighting and last semester I got the best grades I ever had before. I got over my depression, although there’s always days were I don’t have the energy or get behind some stuff, but it’s been really helpful to have therapy and I have great friends, my family despite any shortcomings, in the end have been really understanding of me, and have giving me all the help I needed. It’s nice to know I’m not alone, although I don’t wish my experience on anyone, depression actually teaches you a lot about yourself. Thank you for your vulnerability, Kelsey 💚

Well done for graduating and getting out of your depression. It's an epidemic among millennials and gen z at this point. I'm a few years out of university and literally every few years I find out my friends had depression and/or anxiety at university or at work. It's honestly almost normal at this point. I blame late stage capitalism and the lies we were told about how we can do "anything." It creates unrealistic expectations for ourselves.

Hi, does yonsei offer business undergrad courses in English coz I'm an a level student and I plan to study at yonsei after 12th perhaps I'd like to know if English is the teaching language coz I don't really know Korean yet
Well done for graduating and getting out of your depression. It's an epidemic among millennials and gen z at this point. I'm a few years out of university and literally every few years I find out my friends had depression and/or anxiety at university or at work. It's honestly almost normal at this point. I blame late stage capitalism and the lies we were told about how we can do "anything." It creates unrealistic expectations for ourselves.
