The singing of "Woods" gives me chills every time I hear it.
+The Undertaker indeed it does I love it!
I don't know if you read all of these, but I just want you to know the profound impact you have on kids like me. Never in my life did I think of joining Drum Corps. I never knew it existed until I joined high school marching band. A senior told me about this channel my freshman year and I was hooked. You made me and thousands of other kids like me see the beauty of and sounds of drum corps.
When someone asks me why I joined drum corps I'm going to thank my parents and friends, but I'm going to give a special thanks to you. Thank you for everything you've done for this DCI. I will always re-watch and years from now, I'll relive the beauty of this corps and many others. Again, thank you.
Same here, I never knew it existed until high school, I don't even play a horn. But I want to be part of something at this level
what's your favorite show?

*T/LT*
You should thank your country as well, my dream is to join a drum Corp but I'm a French 21yo who's defenetly not ready :(
The US may be shit for a lot of thing but it's the best country to pursue your dream whatever it may be
I marched in late 60s. Drum corps are awesome 🙏
I really love the ballad this year.
UpsettingTooth1 that opener though 😳😳
i think the bluecoats is definitely the best at huge, balanced, big sweeping ballads
Personally I wanna give that to crown but I can definitely see why you say that
3:13 is the most perfect entrance I've ever heard in my life.
the guy's reaction to it has me LIVING
Blue Devils 2014 trumpet entrances, check it and come back to me
@@chaser22081 idk man... BD trumpets were crazy 2014 but a Whole corp reentering the Mello sustaine kinda slaps
That's not an entrance that's a note change I'm afraid
The only way I can describe 2:58 entrance is... A warm rush of air
Their balance is incredible. Definitely second best to Crown imo.
My thoughts exactly when I listened. You know who has horrible balance, though? THE FREAKING BLUE DEVILS!
Elisha North exactly. They play jazzy music so it kinda fits their style to have trumpets sticking out and a super weak low brass sound but in drum corps I like hornlines to be balanced. It sounds so much better. That's why I love Crown, Bloo, Troop, and a few others. They balance very well.
The blue devils do not have a "super weak" low brass whatsoever. Their high brass is just very strong.
Not hatin'. Just don't prefer their sound. I really enjoy the Blue Devils' stellar percussion line and great color guard. I just don't like their brass sound as much, really. And most of my brass-playing friends agree. They're just pretty topheavy. It's not because of a weak low section; it's just that their trumpets are really strong.
+Elisha North having an opinion is fine. But your comment came off as you trying to bash them. I guess you can say that their brass sound is an acquired taste. But you cannot tell me that they didn't have the best sound in 2014 brass-wise.
When they sing, it sounds just as great as when they play.
Oldest trick in the book teaching brass.. If you can't sing it you can't play it.
"The Horncoats 2015 Blueline"- me 2015
5 years later and IM STILL LOVING THIS
Idk if you guys notice but on 4:35 the trumpet line does like these separate sections where the 1st trumpets go up and then the 2nd trumpets play two notes fitting in the chord and then the 3rd trumpets play the melody coming into the chord it makes the ballad so much more cooler!!!
at 5:30 they sing. wait... THEY SING!!! Why is it that vocalists in high school/college say "band geeks can't sing!" ohhh how you are so wrong. By the sound of it, these guys sound more balanced then you ever could try. lol hahaha! GO BLOOOO!
The tubas at 2:21 are so clean and in tune!! props
Drum corps always make the best choirs
Listen with headphones = mind blown
Don't mind me, just here again every few weeks to remember what pure joy sounds like.
I cant stop listening to this
I stalked these guys halfway around the UCM campus at Warrensburg for almost an hour and it was so worth it to hear them
I play snare but I have to say... this is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Hands down. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and play another instrument because of stuff like this! Thank you Bluecoats.
Im a snare drummer too and I enjoy standing in hornline circles just as much as watching the drumlines warm up.
+Mitchy E same here man.
Good sir, might I kindly direct you to another breathtaking and chilling moment in dci history?
search on youtube Carolina Crown 2012 Avon. it's a video by DrumCorpsTube. Watch the whole video, but first watch at 6:41.
You may be a snare player. But I think Crown Brass has something to teach you about timing
I watch this daily.
me too
+Atalix same
Atalix
Me too
IM STILL GERE
You still here?
For any wondering, the opening chorale that they do here and almost everywhere is called "thumbs"
There's a reason this video has zero dislikes.
You did this lol
You monster
Jk lol
I'm so glad that nobody is home right now; sorry neighbors. *turns up volume*
So beautiful!
I have always loved the Bluecoats. Just Amazing.
Them, Phantom, CC, BD, SCV, Cavs. They’re all Just incredible. This was the golden age of DCI.
Chills down my back every time I watch these videos . All of these band members sacrifice all that they have just to be a part of something that is beyond amazing !!! Keep it up and go Bluecoats ! #BlueCoatNation
Thank you for posting these videos, they make my day!
I wasn't a big fan of this show when it first came out, but now that this much time has passed, I've learned to love this show.. BECAUSE OMG THE BALLAD MADE ME CRY
Just, wow. Thank you for this.
The singing of their ballad is one of the most beautiful things I've ever listened to. Wow.
I listen to this about four times a week. I absolutely love it.
7:03 to 7:08 we are trumpets give us attention.
Sean C
"ACKNOWLEDGE US!"
we must be heard
i'm dying - i'm a trumpet player
Them singing is breath taking. Gives me chills.
i love opener ^-^
The most amazing sound ever!
I think it's amazing how fast the hornline is able to adjust to be in tune (around 0:09)
4:25 that delayed bassline is perfect
This sounds absolutely amazing! I can't believe someone disliked it.
Sometimes I forget that the BlueCoats wore the long blue coat uniforms for the 2014 AND 2015 season
One of the many things that made TILT so damn incredible!
@@zackg3 Oh yeah!
13 too
This blows my brain into another dimension every single time
I'm an ancient drum corp soprano bugle soloist. Of all the drum corps vids, this is my absolute favorite.
4 years later and still my favorite show of all time
Still my favorites show
the trumpet line was so powerful, imo this is my favorite bc brass section ever
This was amazing
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I got to see my boy! He plays Euph.
Best drum major in DCI
totally agree....he's outstanding...
+Thomas Riggs Definitely most unique, Hunter (Crown's center) is a really cool guy though, just a band nerd like the rest of us lol
Seriously going to miss him :((((
You said this 3 years ago then Samuel Crawford became head drum major and now you’re wrong
Love the Bluecoats

PITCH PERFECTION
I can't wait to see these guys play in Cajun Field
They're so underrated
Dang, their low brass is phenomenal this year.
The low brass is really killing it this year!
@6:08, I really liked those vocals!
The euphs at 6:15 get me every time
The Bluecoats hornline warmup that night is probably one of the best things that has ever happened in Casper, Wyoming.
Besides troop this year😉
3:08 chills every time
Respect...
Drum Corps Tube for Bluecoats media team...? I don't know how that works, but that would be pretty sweet
Trumpet soloist is has insane tone!!!!

Ok this may sound dumb but like, did he just "cancel action" on the sustain at 1:24?
6:34 just listen to those overtones
I thought the opener was a ton of electrics. Talk about pleasantly surprised :D
Everyone does. Nice to see that some people are opening their eyes... And ears I guess...

Anybody know the lyrics? I wanna sing too!
What chord is that at 0:18? So soothing
Mugshot Marley f major
@@RX7-111 Thanks! Didnt realize that its just a major chord lol. I guess its the progression that makes it sound so good
Chorale at the beginning anyone?
Anyone else just listen to 1:35 on repeat
I hear the ending of 2019 bluecoats ballad in this. Listen good, i mean that chord from 1:46
Nice lens flare at 1:05 ;)
What are the lyrics of the ballad(singing)?
I'm up in the woods,
I'm down on my mind.
I'm building a still,
To slow down the time.
x2
A safe stronghold our God is sure....
Please forgive my ignorance, but the lower sounding brass instruments are those mellophones and tubas, because I recognize the trumpets and flugelhorns?
Baritones/euphoniums and tubas/contras make up the low end. Mellophones make up the mids and trumpets are the high end. Now a lot more corps have trombones which serve both as low and mid range.
@@SALEENS7GTR5 Thank you!
@@larryhutsler8309 No worries!
Should have won best brass
Why does Willie wear headphones sometimes when conducting?
The Paragon it makes it easier for him to hear the metronome and stay in time.
Thanks! Always wondered, haha
7:03 XD
They sound like a church organ Man...
If their ballad is based off a song, would anyone happen to know the name of it?
Kanye West- Lost In the World
May be sampled though
Thanks man
Aaron Wedlow What? It's Woods by Bon Iver.
Woods- Bon Iver
Darude- sandstorm
let the drum major do his thing and the kids respond to his conducting. whoever the teacher that can't be still needs to be aware that at some point this needs to be just the DM and corps....
