One thing I want to point out regarding Han Solo shooting first back in Mos Eisley is that Greedo threatened and took him hostage at gunpoint and announced his intent to kill Han despite being under orders from Jabba to bring in Han alive.
So if you do a more thorough analysis in regards to Han shooting Greedo first, the former was technically in the right for killing the other in self-defense because he felt his life was being threatened so in the end it was more or less justified for the iconic smuggler to act first.

    • @williamalvarez9563

He felt his life was threatened? There is a reason Han didn't want to answer to Jabba directly for his failure, either Jabba gave him another chance or fed him to the rancor, and Han simply didn't like them odds.
Greedo most likely could have gotten away with bringing Han's carcass to Jabba and be like "I know you wanted him alive Jabba but he came right at me!!"

I think this mindset is why a lot of fans gravitate toward the Mandalorian faction and their ideologies seen in Legends, like the True Mandalorian Supercommandos, for example. Are they a bunch of lunatic space-vikings who spent the better part of several thousands of years fighting to conquer the galaxy? Sure. But they're also a people driven by a sense of found family, loyalty to those who deserve it and honor in each decision. They are self-reliant and take the side of no one, only making alliances with those that can maintain a mutual sense of respect.

Love your channel, love your content . Han Solo is also my favorite for much of the same reasons you gave in this video. He's not a believer nor is he a super gifted individual; he's more of a free spirit. When he realized the Force does exists, he still refuses to bow down to it and tried to live by his own rules (even in Legends, where his future was far better, he still distinguished himself by this characteristic). A guy who despite his apparent selfishness, is the one friend whom you can count on even if he doesn't agree with everything you believe. Most of us also view the world in shades of grey like Han Solo and aren't blind followers.

The argument you made is very interesting. There was this one ripping good post I read somewhere arguing the case that Han was the most moral character of the franchise, laying out the argument that he chose what he did out of Neutral/Chaotic Good principles (right for right's sake), as compared with the Jedi who chose good because of a Lawful Good impersonal duty. And...well, he didn't HAVE to look at a Wookiee in chains and go "Yup. This is wrong" and end up with Chewie. He didn't HAVE to double cross Crimson Dawn or start shit on Kessel. But he did...because he's Han and this was just not a situation Han was going to tolerate. He didn't HAVE to go back to the battle of Yavin to help Luke, bur he did because he chose to help Luke. It wasn't for the rebellion or the Light Side or some grand ideology. It's because these people needed help the same way Chewie needed help and from the same people that had put his big, shaggy buddy in chains. He stays on because he's come to be loyal to Luke and Leia, not necessarily the Rebellion itself. Subfreezing weather on Hoth? Yup, he's riding out there because his future brother in law's in trouble and he's got to make an effort to save the kid.
When it comes to the whole idea Lucas was trying to promote about attachment and letting go? Well, he doesn't take the Jedi route and treat ALL loving connection as dangerous attachment (side-eying your ass, Yoda) or the Anakin route of going nuts because he fears losing people, but he does know when to take the hit and go into carbonite, telling Chewie to look after Leia and to not go apeshit on the Imperials. He's completely besotten with Leia, but is okay with letting her go if needed (ROTJ), but that's not an issue because...well, that's not a romantic rival, that's his future brother in law. He was also quite forgiving towards Lando because he understood his pal got caught between Needs of the Many and Needs of the Few (which is a very Jedi mentality for someone who isn't swinging a saber)
Rolling Mouse Wars? Okay, he and Leia hit the skids. Too bad there, but he was the first guy to give Finn and Rey some help, even taking Rey under his wing and trying to be a good influence...well, as good as Han can be. He also was willing to (and did) sacrifice his life to try and turn his kid back to the Light. And weirdly enough, it's telling that he's the only known non-Force wielder to go all ghostlike. (There's other essays for the FS!Han theory). It's not like Obi Wan or Yoda were going to show up and try and talk down Vader, but here's Han "hold my beer" Solo absolutely forgetting he's not supposed to be able to do these kinds of things.
And rolling Legends? Yeah, I'm willing to bet he played a VERY large part in why Legends!Luke wasn't letting the whole Master Jedi status go to his head the way Sequel!Luke did. Because all Han would have to say is "tauntaun guts" to get Luke's nose out of the air about what a bigshot Jedi he was. Plus playing a big role in why the NJO was looser with marriages, familes, friendships, and just having a life outside the cloistered temple because...well, try and tell Han "hold my beer" Solo "You can't marry my sister because she's Force Sensitive." If Han didn't reply with "Get lost, farmboy," then Leia would have said much, much worse. And last we hear of him in Legends, he grieved hard for Chewie and his lost sons, but was proud of his daughter and raising his little granddaughter with Leia as they rode off into their golden years, but hardly retirement...

I've always loved Han Solo. ^_^ All of these points are spot on to who he is, and why I love him. And why I am of the few who LOVED "Solo." It's up there with my favorite star wars movies. For me, it's ROTJ, SOLO, Rogue One.
    ...
When creating my space rogue, I wanted all my favorites wrapped up one character, so I created a man who's a mix if Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Eugene Fitzherbert, (even Rapunzel in a tiny way) and Luke Skywalker (also in a way).

Not necessarily. If word got out that a young hot shot pilot at the academy was claiming to be the son of the famed hero of the clone wars Anakin Skywalker, the empire would probably raise him to a celebrity status. The emperor had originally set it up so that Anakin would be viewed as Palpatine's rescuer when the Jedi tried to assassinate him. Not to mention I'm sure both Palpatine and Vader would take a personal interest in Luke. Again it's an interesting idea.

I think you're being too harsh. Before Palpatine, there was a thousand years of peace. That creates a ton of nonsense. The fact that it only took a century to deal with is a nice trade off. I agree with you that Leia was entitled and Luke was a leaf in the wind, but someone had to be there to clear the cobwebs from all those centuries of awesomeness.
