Honestly Tanabe felt like a Love interest only at the beginning, near the end of the manga Misuzu (and the mangaka) forgot he existed. 😂
Off page relationship is my belief. Since other comments here mention that it’s stated in the manga that Misuzu’s parents had the same relationship in high school, I guess the mangaka didn’t feel the need to show their love story.

What hurts the most is this exact situation reminds of my old self 😟 Hyper-Active and Full Energy Courtship engaging onwards. I was a kid back then, who ever though girls find it annoying. Even though with Misuzu cold's personality and have no love interest, Junichiro leaves a mark on her and respected him for his devotion. Proving that with direct emotion, perspective of goal and proper poise of personality could win any woman.

in my opinion, the entire subplot about the two gyaru and the third year troublemakers could've easily been replaced with a subplot with these two. seems like they just forgot about this dude near the end of the manga/anime. i mean i guess it shouldn't be a requirement to have every single character end up with someone but misuzu definitely needs someone lmao especially since all of her friends are in a relationship now

Felt so bad for this mans. He deserved a chance, at least. Or Misuzu could've just straight up said stop bugging me. I get he was persistent, but her still encouraging him to ask her out so she can reject him kinda seemed like a weird thing to say that may have given a misconstrued answer that would result in him continuing the chase.
