  • Andy Davis was enjoying his morning coffee and preparing for an early workout when four mountain lions suddenly jumped onto his porch in Conifer, Colorado.
    Davis said that seeing wildlife such as deer and elk is quite common but this was the first time he had ever seen a mountain lion so he grabbed his phone and began to record.

      Nonsense of predator animals won't hurt you unless 'insert reason here' are why family's continue to lose children and adults are attacked. I lived in Colorado for five years hiking with my son Joe that had muscular dystrophy in a special made backpack so he could explore places others with his condition couldn't. I carried a 45 caliber and people made their comments one family was headed up a trail my son and I came down a female mountain lion that had never had cubs killed their son. 1999 I believe Poudre canyon reservoir trail

When a person over 6 foot uses their mountain bike to protect an injured child and the cat comes back after emergency personnel are there and has to be put down is not going to play nice if they claim the area in this video as their's. And while gators can climb fences, they won't with a dog because they're ambush predators and much more shy than crocs, so dogs scare them away unless they're huge.

    I had the unexpected privilege and joy of seeing a puma in the wild on a university geology field training trip to Utah 40 years ago. The puma was on a steep roadcut above us, just watching, while slowly making his way up higher. He was absolutely magnificent, a hush fell over the whole group I was with, what a treat. Someone said “he must by nine feet tip to tail”. I wasn’t sure about that, but looked it up when I got back, and yes, mature pumas do get that long, partly because they have very long tails. The males can be 225 lbs. and the females top out at about 175, but most are smaller. They tend to weigh about what an average man does, 150 lbs. or so. I fell in love with pumas that day and never “got over” it! How wonderful to see a whole family group at once. Pumas won’t hurt people unless they threaten them, and of course, any mother, of any species, will be extra cautious and protective around her young. They don’t eat people or common pets (dogs and cats, who are omnivores and carnivores, respectively). They eat vegetarian, grazing animals like we humans do, they taste a lot better, compare eating beef to eating a jackal! They almost exclusively hunt deer, if available, and similar ungulates. But, if necessary, they will eat “mouse to moose” (sorry, don’t remember whom to credit for this quote). Most human/puma conflicts occur because they will kill and eat unprotected livestock like sheep and goats. We can’t expect them to understand they we consider these delicious ungulates off-limits, they must be protected in predator-proof enclosures, not just tethered on a picket rope waiting to be eaten!

      Y’all don’t even vaccinate your kids . At least if the cougars eat them, someone gets to live.

    Those animals are incredibly graceful. If they weren't so heavy and if they were human, they could all become ballerinas.

    They gently shared the water with each other, no pushing or fighting over it. Can you imagine a human mom trying to get three human kids to share something?

      The chances that they return while anyone is on the deck are very slim. They would have to be very hungry. Aside from that, small children shouldn't go anywhere away from their parents, or supervisors in that area.

    • @darylemmanuel4747
      @darylemmanuel4747 Před 4 lety +21

      No need to harm the cats or you would be killing every natural predator including wolves and bears.
      The cougars just need to be deterred from the area and the owners of the home have to be super vigilant i.e. small pets, small children kept guarded, try not to travel at night, beware of overhangs.
