- A fan of the channel emailed me with a LEGO Star Wars Buildable Yoda Minifigure that I had never seen before... turns out it's 1 of 3 New York Yoda's ever made. It might be the rarest LEGO Star Wars item (with LEGO pieces) I will ever own. Thanks Joseph!

#40 developer (available at pretty much any beauty supply store) and UV light will take the yellowing out. Coat the white bricks in the developer, wrap with saran wrap, and leave it in the sun for several hours. With as bad as some of the bricks on the back are, it might take a few attempts. AvE did a video on this. I think it's called "Whitening old plastic". I used his process on the wings of my UCS shuttle at it worked like a charm.
The fact that this NY I ❤️ statute exists is incredible. Sure you could build it yourself with all of the right pieces, but just knowing that there’s an official LEGO statute of this minifigure is just amazing
What stops someone from doing that and selling it??

The yellowing and quirks are part of it charm, and proves its the real thing, and representative of it's age. Sometimes, things look better untouched, and to be loved in the way they arrive. Just keep him out of bright light, and keep the dust off. Maybe invest in a proper museum graded glass display for about $100 and you will get many more years enjoyment.

a Toys R Us Times Square exclusive...that flagship store was my CHILDHOOD. Every time we went into the city, we always made sure to stop in there to get something. Whether it be a Playmobil DHL truck or a Lego SpongeBob, City, Batman, or Indiana Jones set. Even got a Lego Toys R Us truck set from there (though that wasn't a Times Square specific exclusive). They also had a Ferris wheel, a giant T-Rex animatronic (RIP it was destroyed to bits), and even a small Wonka store....when they announced they were closing the flagship store, in my eyes that was the final nail in the coffin for the Toys R Us chain that I knew.
For fixing the yellowing, check out if retro brite can help. That or I think Jang had a guide on de-yellowing Lego.
I was thinking the same thing. I've used Jangs technique 5 or 6 times and it worked great. However, two possible issues. One, don't know if that would also affect the glue that they used. Two, I just recently read from someone in a lego Facebook group that using hydrogen peroxide and UV to treat the prices can also cause them to become brittle over time and crack. That's the first time I've heard that, so idk. But it would definitely give me pause when dealing with something rare.
I'm speechless, I never ever would have expected that Lego would make such rare sets. Compared to other rare sets I personally find this one the best.
In order to remove the yellowing you should wrap him and expose him for couple days with UV led, You can also wrap the whole thing with foil in order to have more reflect. Promise it works
I thought UV light was the reason Lego and other plastics yellow.
Also how would the different stages of yellowing we see on this example be affected if exposed at the same time?

@@Deuce_and_a_half I dont know the science behind it honestly but I,ve restored a yellowed super nintendo and a ps1 with a couple lego sets. It takes time like over a week depending on the damage but it works
@@Deuce_and_a_half Thats a good question why some pieces in the back are more yellowed than other thats weird it's suppose to be the same material, and they,re fairly exposed the same amount of time
This is one piece I definitely would not try to ‘restore’. The yellowing is a sign of age and we are talking about “when 900 years you reach…” Yoda!
i have a massive 1/1 lego star wars mosaic that i won at a lego store. like 4x5ft. i participated in building it and guessed the amount of pieces in it correctly. coolest thing i own

During lockdown here in the UK on ebay last year was a brown full size chest of drawers made out of lego. It was all brown and looked like a giant tree stump. It was a lego star wars competition prize and was supposed to be dagobah it had a little cave at the back. Never seen another one...ever. it was collection only and due to lockdown it was impossible for me to get. Watched it end for £26.....should have broken the law. Things like this still exist...

Lego star wars magazine ran a competition in 2014 and the winner had an ewok themed bedroom made for him. It looks amazing. This item was from there

OMG this unlocked a childhood memory, I remember seeing (I don't think it was the lays cross over one) a lego yoda that looked almost exactly like that. I think I was in a hospital, Idk it was very high up. I thought it was so cool as a kid, I wonder where it is now. I cant find anything like the one I remember online anywhere, so maybe it was a custom build. I totally forgot about that thing tho.
I guess the next goal is the find the life size Lego X-wing on sale👍🏻

Awesome story and piece. I've noticed that one in the background of some videos but I had no idea it was so rare. i figured it was a times square lego store thing you could buy for a huge price tag but not rare just expensive. congrats on the addition to an epic collection!!
You could try using acetone to "glue" the broken pieces together. Acetone will (should) melt the pieces back together.
I've always known about that 2013 NYC LEGO Star Wars event, but I never knew about the NY I ❤ Yoda! It's insane that you have that rare of an item in your collection!
I won this contest too, but only won the Minifig and 2012 x-wing. I remember they wanted people to build their own version of x-wing but I just submitted a pic of the 2012 set I already owned and it turned out that’s what most people did as well. I specifically remember one of the three 1st place winners basically built a 4+ version and thinking to myself “if I put a little effort into a build I could’ve won the statue!” Great to see it here. Still have the Minifig and both x-wings built.

I have the NY Yoda figure but that Yoda is pretty cool too. My only question is why did he sell it for $500?? The Minifig is worth more than that.

Buy some salon 40 and a led growth lamp on amazon and you’ll be able to remove the yellowing from the plastic

What is your technique for the yellowing? I have an old nasa space shuttle that I recently dusted off and it’s very yellow but has a lot of stickers as well. What’re your thoughts

Boy Bricktsar is going to be Soooo jealous! You should post instructions online for this so he can build his own! Kinda like he did(n’t do) with the LEGO store set that you GAVE him as a gift so every(no)one could build their own LEGO store. One thing I really appreciate about you and your channel is how you give back to the fans (unlike other LEGO CZcamsrs who seem to be all take and no give). Respect to you for that!

Hey MandR I think I have hit the jackpot when it comes to Lego Star Wars. I say this cause my older brother has so much old and classic sets from the early 2000’s
The reason this is so rare is because it’s only 3 to exist. No, someone can’t build it and sell it as a fake. This is because instructions don’t exist.

Man that little dude sat in the window of the uptown NYC LEGO store. (Well midtown basically) Unfortunately that store got destroyed during the riots / looting that happened. I still have the minifig version in the bag somewhere. I actually think I have 2 or 3. I didn’t realize it was worth that much it was basically a promotional giveaway in the store for awhile. I need to find them in my collection. I know I didn’t open them. 👍 Awesome statue Ryan. Thanks for letting me know the value of the minifig you know I don’t pay attention to that stuff. I opened my light up saber vader fig that’s rare now🤦♂️ 😂. I’m definitely not going to open the NYC yodas.

you should maybe look into uv light for the yellowing, in the sneaker community they use it to remove yellowing freom soles
Interesting, once when I was going to the LEGO nyc store near rockfeller center and FAQ toys back in 2014 or 2012 I remember seeing an item like this. I wonder if my memory is wrong or maybe the6 took this down and sold it!
