I grew up in the 80’s but always heard songs from 60’s as a young child. It must have been something to grow up in that era. I used to wish there was a magic time machines so I could see what it was like.

The one really great thing about CZcams is its ability to bring back times past and long past. I was in college in the late 50s and so many of these singers bring back memories. Gone, but never forgotten!
This makes me emotional when you compare it to the codswollop music today and the innocence of the songs era compared to todays awful society !

Not crazy about this particular rendition, but I suppose that an artist can grow tired of endless repetitions of their signature song and did to mix it up a little. Anyway, she's still wonderful and I adore her.
Well said. It's always annoying when a performer feels they have to "jazz it up" instead of singing it "straight". I do realize she's had to sing the very same thing 10,000 times. Still, sometimes the original way was actually the best.

She moved to Germany, sang in German and became a star here. In 1965 she won the German Schlager-Festival with "Mit 17 hat man noch Träume". Further hits were "In der Carnaby street", "Romeo und Julia", "Einmal verliebt, immer verliebt", "Fly away, pretty flamingo". In the late 70's she moved back to the US, but she is still well known in Germany and she is often a guest in German TV shows.

Sad that you recognize the song instantly…. But ask people who sang it…. and no one knows her name. Her record company did not promote her name, just the song. I guess her being only 14 , singing such adult lyrics may have had something to do with it. It was 1963 things were different, I mean everyone was innocent until they shot Kennedy in November this song came out in the Spring of 1963 .

They know her name very well in Germany. She moved to Germany and became a big hit there. She’s back in the US now, but does return to Germany from time to time where she had a long career.
