    I have found you can dilute dirty down rust with just water, it seems like the more water the lighter shade it dries. :)

    • @NuHue
      @NuHue  Před 2 lety +1

      You can use water, however the more water you use, you will loose the effect quicker. The dirty down will evaporate quicker than the water and this causes some funky stuff to happen. If using water.
      With water its better to load up the area on neat Dirty down and then attack it with a damp or wet brush!

    Yeah, that Alpha Legionnaire looks amazing. Really liked the chilled atmosphere from the video.
    And if you need idea for a video: Do one with limited colours. And this has nothing to do with the fact that I have just started painting and only have a small selection of paints to chose from.

      Oh that's a challenge! The must have colours would be a good black, an ivory, flat red, Blue and a deep brown! I'm sure these colours will get you far enough for a chaos paint scheme!

    • @NuHue
      @NuHue  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for the comment Tim! The base was a very quick and simple mish-mash using the left over Milliput from episode one, quickly squashed onto the base, sculpted the rough outline and then used a rotary tool to create craters. The painting was Rhinox Hide and then two pigments, dark earth and dark rust blended from either end to meet in the middle.
      The base was intentionally left out as the video started to creep up in time!
      I will be doing a dedicated video for bases in the future and this method will we captured there!

    Since there's nothing for me to critique on the model (it's perfect for a "ordinary" unit), I will instead critique the video. Nevermind, nothing for me to critique here either. Why is it that your third video on YT looks better than videos from people with 100m+ subs and over a decade of YT experience? Damn, I wish I had even a fraction of your talents.
    /edit; Do you have any plans to set up a Discord channel or similar for your very rapidly growing community? From 400 to 800 subs in just ~2 weeks is impressive!

    • @NuHue
      @NuHue  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you Twist! There will always be something to critique! From the first two videos it has been incredibly valuable to hear the comments from others, along side my own personal high standards of work its allowed the channel to put some sort of decent content out there!
      Before I started doing the videos, I spent a lot, and I mean A LOT of time just watching CZcams videos of all genres, not for their content but the setups, direction and quality. When I started I always wanted to ensure my content either competes at worst, and beats at best for visuals. The audio and presenting, I'm still learning! But I do enjoy acting in front of crowds.
      As to how, I honestly have no clue! The videos are taking a little longer than I had hoped for releasing but this is because each time I record, edit and master, I always find something that needs more work, better exposure or simply the visuals.
      Oh yes the Discord is being created and allocated as we speak! Since the channel is growing at a nice pace, we have unlocked the community posting so I can now post publicly rather than during a video.

    • @DasFork
      @DasFork Před 2 lety +2

      @NuHue Looking forward to seeing the Discord! Normally I would not offer my help, but seeing as your channel is new and I wholeheartedly love your content; let me know if there's anything I can help with.
      Rewatching your video yet another time there is one piece of critique I have to offer. I personally would prefer it if the character would be zoomed in on enough to be able to see drops of paint being added. To be able to truly see close up the work on the mini being done. Guy from Midwinter Minis has mastered the "art of the zoom". If you haven't already I would highly recommend watching his videos for inspiration on the close up filming.
      And yes, it truly shows that you have spent almost too much time watching other videos to learn from. Sir, your work ethics must be off the charts, and I would be extremely surprised if you didn't become one of the greats in terms of 40k channels on YT if you keep this level of quality and passion up.

      @@DasFork Thank you Twist! You may live to regret offering the help!
      *proceeds to send a 500 page help document!*
      Getting that super zoom in! It is on my radar to achieve that, I've just got a new camera for miniature recording, the R10 and I'm hoping I can at least get much closer. I also need to learn to "keep the damn model still!"
      There is a ladder, and I sure do hope to climb it!

    Would adding the highlights before enamels make them visible or at least blend in smoother ? or do they need to be added after enamels ?

    • @NuHue
      @NuHue  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Joston! You can add the highlights before, but the enamels will always "tone" down to some degree, if the highlight is closer to a pure white then the enamel will stain.
      the safest way for a clean bright highlight is to apply them at the end.
