  • there are a lot of reasons as of why this flight went so badly, here's a general timeline:
    I takeoff
    I realise I used imperial measurements for fuel instead of metric. not smart
    Midway into cruise left engine has a fire, no issue there not hard to fly
    Performed a go-around due to awful centreline with low vis
    On the downwind leg the second engine decided to not work.
    Upon landing brakes overheat resulting in the tyres deflating and nose wheel steering breaking
    Bezos will pick up the repair bill

    Thank you. And what an absolutely fabulous aerodrome lighting layout. What really impressed me about it was that the designers and engineers were also able to include a high speed taxiway in the overall aerodrome layout. At first I thought that it may have been a Thames landing.
    Very professional too, having the ILS set up for this approach already, just in case the aircraft lost power of both engines and it was IMC almost down to the water.
    So, which stretch of water or riverway did you land on please, and is this waterway landing area situated within the United Kingdom?

    You lost the second engine as you were too low on fuel on the right fuel tank. In order to use the fuel from the left fuel tank, that used to supply engine 1, you should‘ve turned on the X-feed. This would then lead to engine 2 also consuming fuel from the left tank. Still very well done! 👏👍

    Just out of curiousity, why did you turn base so soon? It looks like 2 rolls back and you immediately go into that steep bank (and I'm not asking because I think I know better, I have never played any sim, it's just curiousity). I feel like you could have used more track miles to lose some more speed and turn later.

    • @ToastyBunzs
      @ToastyBunzs Před 5 měsíci

      The thing is this is an emergency. He knew that the runway is plenty long and that while you can lose some more speed by delaying a turn who knows what could happen you could encounter heavy sink shed too much speed or wind could pick up. The speed he landed was a bit fast and he couldve used more flaps and kept the nose up to keep speed but increase descent rate. Its better to land long on the runway than short in the trees

    • @bridishbirb
      @bridishbirb  Před 14 dny

      hilariously late reply but hallo
      i immediately did the turn because the weather was horrendous and if i were to encounter any windshear or drastic changes, all that energy would very very quickly bleed away
      plus the further away i get the harder it is to find the runway in the first place, yes ILS exists but it's easier to deal with it visually
      when you lose your source of thrust and are just a glider it's better to have more energy than youd realistically need especially considering I'm over residential areas not a river like our good friend sully was 😂
      being slow = lotta dead people

    you landed on the wrong runway

    • @bridishbirb
      @bridishbirb  Před 8 měsíci +2

      you are infact wrong sir, i landed on the correct runway
      while 05L was the planned arrival runway, that is only true when one or both engines were running
      the moment both engines gave out 05L became unsuitable. this is for a few reasons
      one being it has no high speed exits meaning i would have to stop on the runway which blocks everyone forcing me to disconnect from vatsim
      if i did land and vacate i would then be blocking taxiways and due to how manchester is designed thats a BIG problem
      05R immediately became the runway I wanted the moment that second engine died out.
      so uhh unfortunately you got that one wrong. look at EGCC charts and youll see what i mean

      theyre generally both good, however the preferred style depends on the individual
      see i dont like boeing a whole lot but i love the 737 because of the flight deck. the use of buttons and switches, colour scheme and overall ancient yet modern design blend is extremely attractive to me
      plus it uses direct links to the hydraulics instead flybywire which encourages more overall control and "feel"
      its only the 737 I actually like
      if that guy didnt exist id be flying airbus all the damn time
      i will be upgrading my setup sometime and fetching the inibuilds a350 and probably the fenix
      not doing that yet because using a yoke and boeing throttle setup is just wrong, it feels dumb

  • @bridishbirb

    love how im getting all these comments going on about crossfeed valves and QRH, you're forgetting im one single pilot flying in near zero visibility on the vatsim network communicating with a tower controller while also avoiding other planes. (because thats my job, tower cannot sequence) and you expect me to bust out a QRH?? be a bit realistic ¬_¬
    too many know it alls man just enjoy the damn video no need to hold me to these standards

    • @ToastyBunzs
      @ToastyBunzs Před 5 měsíci

      Pulling out the QRH would be a bad idea with no copilot, extremely low, and that close to the runway. The correct call is to come in and land long like you did. The other people in the comments are just CZcams pilots the most important thing is don't stop flying the airplane and if youre reading a qrh letting it go straight ahead and degrade speed and lose altitude your doing just that, getting behind the airplane.

    • @ToastyBunzs
      @ToastyBunzs Před 5 měsíci

      Only thing i would do differently is keep the nose up and use flaps to get you lower when you drop the nose its just gonna pick up a lot of airspeed which especially once in ground effect is going to make you float a lot longer as well as other issues.

      if not a compliment: I do actually agree with you a lot on this standpoint, the british are an interesting folk due to how extremely diverse we are. the insane amount of different accents and sub-cultures within this already quite 'complicated' culture has been getting a little bit extreme hence the communists openly protesting in manchester
