In this video I show you how I removed the old fuel filter and fit a new fuel filter to a Skoda Fabia MK1 (99-07) which is similar to other VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda models

After watching so many videos on you tube. I must take my hat off at this insightful interesting video, which I'm nominating as best tutorial video on CZcams ...shows everyone else really how it should be done... Sir what a true professional you are. From the soundtrack to the step by step complete with intricate close ups and varied camera angles...lighting was great. Editing grill.Oh not to forget to mention the clever consise clear narration even overseas people ( an Arab friend from the mosque with poor English told me about a hat boy video on you tube....we both live in Glasgow ) can easily follow and understand...Thank you so so much.

Good video...I also put a shot of diesel injector cleaner in the new filter before filling it with fresh fuel.

Yes, if you just swap out the filter it should run and bleed itself, but there are occasions when air may get trapped and cause an issue if all isn't perfectly setup. That is why I would recommend filling the filter will new fuel to eliminate any issues. Saying that, I don't do it as it wouldn't be a bother to me if I had to bleed it anyway. Worst I've seen is it may take a bit of turning over to start so make sure the battery is good :-)

Yo tengo una Fabia 1.4TDi 2005 y voy a intentar cambiar yo el filtro. En mi caso tengo ya comprado un filtro Purflux pero las dos juntas de goma están negras y NO negra + azul.
Que cantidad de combustible se tiene que comprar para rellenar el filtro nuevo? Cuanto entra en el filtro?
Gracias. No estoy seguro de por qué el reemplazo de su filtro no es azul; lo debería ser. Puede filtrar el combustible de retorno con cuidado (diésel, use guantes / anteojos) ejecutando el retorno en un receptáculo durante un tiempo.
Hi, how much fuel need to full in new filter? And the guy from auto parts said that Bosh filter n6322 is not my fabia 1.9TDi.Also i checked my old filter it's more shorter.
Don't worry about the amount of fuel for the filter on this car has a lift pump so it is not critical and will start even if you don't fill it with fuel. There are a number of filters that fit, some shorter ones will obviously go into the holder. As long as it does and the fittment arrangment on the top is the same it will work. The housing is designed for a certain length of fit for the clips to hold the filter snugg and stop it rattling. Measure the holder from the bottom to the clips and check against filter specs which are ofter given in descriptions. The longer Bosch N6322 has a drain on the bottom that should remain in place and closed.
Had to change my fuel return valve yesterday as they no longer come with the fuel filters. 31 pounds! Hope it works, been having trouble with fuel going back to the tank.
Did this work? What made you decide fuel was going back to tank?
@@HatBoyHarvey it did not. I actually had to keep car off the road for 2 weeks while I changed, camshaft, buckets, timimg belt and injector seals. All good now

Do you have any advice on a Serpentine Belt change as my new one is causing me a loss of power for some reason the car is very sluggish
Take the belt off and check all the pulleys for wear or stiffness. Any wear will cause vibration and dragging. Does you AC work, if not it is likely that the pump has seized and the pulley sheared loose to protect the engine. the alternator pulley can also fail. I intend to do a video for this :-)
I have benzin is also the same as diesel
I am doing this for my Skoda Octavia 2003 1.9TDI. The two o-rings are not part of the kit and they tell me at the shop that they arent supposed to be in there. Do you think using other o-rings from a generic set to be ok?
As long as they are the same size and fuel proof they would be fine.
@@HatBoyHarvey after some months it's not an issue, thanks for the content. The car still is super sluggish, has a hard time to get up to speed, even in downhill (although it helps). I think it might be the fuel-pump but I am going to clean the fuel injectors first.
@@eirikur09 have you checked to see if the turbo is actually working?
@@HatBoyHarvey I would not know how to do that honestly. It just feels like at around 3000rpm it hits a wall and before that it does not respond very well when i but the petal to the floor

yes, it is underneath by the tank which isn't as convenient as the diesels. Make sure everything is clean before you change it out and be careful as it is petrol :-)
does the new filter have to be filled with all diesel to the brim?
No, the PD engine vents the air out easily compared to newer CR engines. It helps, but you can most likely get away without filling it at all and turn it over until it starts; and most often does :-)
Is not necessary to fill the new filter as you do. The car pump do this job for you.. thank you.
Yes, you can just fit the filter and run, sometimes it can take a while to start though, so the choice is yours. Thanks for watching :-)
