Excellent show Doug. Reminds me of Malcolm X's personal photographer Robert L. Haggins who was
approached by the Buluva watch company and the company wanted to use one of Haggins prized
photos of Malcolm's face to put on one of their deluxe watches. The Buluva watch company told
Haggins that they would dump on his kitchen table 1 million dollars in cash if he allowed them use a
    select photo.
This was around the time before Spike Lee's movie on Malcolm came out and merchandise on
Malcolm was everywhere you turned. Haggins told me personally that he turned the offer down
because he could never exploit Malcolm that way.
Spike Lee when he visit Haggins before the movie came out, had selected many of Haggins
prized photos chosen to be shown at the conclusion of Lee's movie, but strangely none of the
Haggins photos were used. Haggins sat in the theatre at the premiere of the movie and sunk in
his seat feeling he was betrayed by someone. After that Haggins fell in a deep depression, got
paranoid sick and died in a miserable state. Should Haggins have told himself "Fuck what the
public has to say gimme the money"?.

Really Doug... juwanna man auditioned a comedic actor like flex and comedian like you for a role that had more serious undertones? I have a hard time believing neither you or Flex realized that a script for a movie called ‘Juwanna Man’ was strictly a comedy.
I have a lot of issues with caricatures of black women created by black men in dresses, but Juwanna Man ages well because, to the audience, it is clearly a man in a dress... not a caricature of a black woman. Plus, there is a lesson that that male character learns. While it’s no cinematic masterpiece juwanna man is an outlier in the bigger conversation of damaging imagery of the black female caricature and the emasculation of the black male because it does neither.

I don't find the humor in a man wearing women's clothes. Why? Plenty of female actresses out there for these roles. Do any of these movies transcend to real life? Big Mommas House...so the FBI will have a man put on a fat woman suit for a undercover case? And in part 2 his son has to wear a dress also...really? That's funny? Martin was funny a show but every episode doesn't have Shanaynay in it. I also believe the show would have been a success without Martin wearing womens clothes...

Doug Williams is LYING!!!!! First of all, the movie sucked. And second, why is entertainment society always trying to put a black man in drag?? I think he would have taken it if the "coins" were right.

Robin Williams, Martin Short, Tom Hanks, Danny Davito, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jerry Lewis... white men have been doing it. All Shakespeare's plays had men dressed as women.

One of the Greatest Actors, Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie, Tony Curtis , Jack Lemmon, in Some like it hot.
Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire. Milton Berle.
Guess it comes down to the individual and their internal values and Masculinity. As a kid, we watched Flip Wilson, and it didn't bother us. It was just comedy.
