Sakura endured all the hard work he gave her, and he didn’t treat her too well during work, but that’s because he knew she was capable of being company president number 4. Ryuhei, on the other hand, was spoiled from day one. He was doomed to fail when he was born. He always cheated, just to get anywhere in life, and then he used company funds just to go drinking and flirt with multiple women, instead of going to meetings or doing something productive for the company. Even if by some miracle he became the next company president, he would have doomed the business. No one with such a lack of intelligence and business acumen would be able to run a successful company. And his arrogant and entitled attitude would have driven off every last employee and client he had. I've known too many businesses who started declining after the owners turned them over to their sons, either for their attitude or lack of business savvy.
One such business, a Chinese restaurant in my hometown, was quite a good eatery in it's heyday. But due to legal issues, the owner turned the business over to his son, who proceeded to run the place into the ground. The quality of the food declined drastically, to the point where when we brought an acquaintance of my father's there for her birthday, the food was so terrible, we couldn't stop apologizing to her.
Another business, a Chevrolet car dealership about 30-40 minutes away from my house, we were loyal customers of for almost 20 years, buying all except three of our cars from them (we're a family of four, and we each have our own car; over the last 20 years, we've bought eight cars) and getting them serviced there. But then the owner turned the business over to his son, who also ran it into the ground.
We used to get really good service from them, but three times in a row, they charged my father for service to his truck that they didn't do at all. My father had enough, and we stopped doing business with them, and started doing business at a Chevrolet dealership about 15 minutes away from our house. And that new place has treated us well since. We'll probably be loyal customers of them for years to come.
So while I understand why some people prefer to keep the business in the family, a lot of times, it's a bad idea. Handing the reins over to a child and overlooking their incompetence is a surefire way of the business going bankrupt. I also understand that it is more of a thing in Japan to keep the business in the family, but a lot of times, it's better to bring in someone from outside the family to take over.
After all, look at Nintendo, for example. Fusajiro Yamauchi founded the company in 1889, as a hanafuda card-making company. That business continued (with brief forays into a taxi service and even love hotels) until his great-grandson, Hiroshi Yamauchi, transformed the company into the toy and eventually video game company it is known for today. It was his leadership that singlehandedly saved the North American video game market in the 1985 with the release of the NES after Atari went bankrupt, which sparked the Video Game Crash of 1983. And the Game Boy family, introduced under his watch, sold over 118 million units (for the original model, the Game Boy Pocket and the Game Boy Color), making it one of the most successful handheld consoles of all time.
But when he retired in 2002, he turned the reins over to Satoru Iwata. It was under his leadership that Nintendo enjoyed some of it's highest sales yet, with the Wii selling over 101 million units, and the DS selling over 154 million. Granted, his final years were marred by the dismal failure of the Wii U (although, even under Yamauchi, the company also had poor sales for the Virtual Boy and the Japan-only 64DD), but the Switch was already in development at that point, and it has now outsold the mighty Wii and is catching up to the Game Boy family.
And now, under Shuntaro Furukawa, the company is reaching new heights, and is exploring expanding their IP into media other than video games. Nintendo has finally opened a theme park at Universal Studios in Japan, with one set to open at the Universal Studios theme park in Anaheim, California, plus they'll be releasing a new 3D animated Mario movie coming out next year (their first movie since the 1993 live-action Mario movie, not counting the Pokémon movies), and the door is open for more films, television shows, and more.
So ultimately, I'd say skill and business acumen should be valued more than bloodlines. Hire someone and/or put them into leadership positions based on their merits, not based on who their mother or father was.

Man parents are funny creatures, i was born with a defect so they decided to have another son and spoilt him rotten and treated me like i was just a burden. 40 yrs later i own my own business and am successful and my spoilt brother is in and out of jail as he finds doing illegal crap easier than working. Dont have a clue what my parents are upto as i left the house at 16 and besides a handful of times have never really seen them

Lmao, Keiretsu or Zaibatsu or minor companies in Japan have a 200 year plus tradition of adopting a suitable male heir if no current male heir or only incompetent is present. But traditionally he would marry the daughter of the current owner and become next president.
Hopeing this turns into daughter gets to be company president in this era when inadequatececy of male is confirmed.
    Let's see was paused.

Extremely old fashioned but if it works it works. Still, it would take a lot for a Japanese to hand over his company to a woman... Like seeing his male heirs be absolute losers and grand daughter be competent at it.

And this, everyone, is why you should never let entitled spoiled kids get into positions of power. They'll abuse that power, neglect their responsibilities, and then run the business into the ground all the while whining, complaining, and scream about how "unfair" people are being for expecting them to work hard and atcually do their job instead of expecting everything being handed to them on a silver plater. The most disappointing thing is how this guy thought that because he was told he was going to be the next president that it was set in stone and that nothing would change it, unaware that such a position can be taken from him due to her attitude. Okay, I got to ask, if the parents had the mindset of only MEN can go to work and WOMEN should just cook and clean a mindset, I could see them both getting that mindset given the times a culture this takes place in. That being said, why didn't the grandfather have an issue with it, assuming his son learned everything from him the old man views should have been far worse in letting a "stupid, weak willed and emotional woman" into his business. Either the man had enough sense to see how much of a trainwreck the grandson was going to be, or he understood that you need competent people to run a business and gender didn't really matter...Or he figured, since it was "his" granddaughter he could overlook the gender issue this time as long as she proved herself, and she did.
