On the very last day of his world tour he had that white door on stage and he opened it and walked out of it symbolising that he is now past all his struggles and hardship and has moved on to the next stage of his life….truly artistic and phenomenal 💜💜💜

Actually, Yoongi had the accident because he was working part time as delivery guy. So he kept training with BTS without telling anyone because he was afraid the company would just fire him. Eventually he got treatment, the company gave him the support he needed and in 2020 he finally had surgery on his injured shoulder. Also because of this surgery and his injury he’s not serving the military like Jin and Hobi, he’s doing more like an administrative work

This song live was absolutely agonizing and hit like a brick. Yoongi presenting it in person, vulnerable in front of 18,000 people, was a shared emotional event I haven’t ever experienced before, and may never again. Watching him walk through that door and turn around and wave at the end of the very last concert in Seoul on August 6th made me cry. Happy tears. He said in DDay “future’s gonna be ok”, and at that moment it felt like he truly could say that for himself. And ARMY celebrated with him. 💜

Ah, yoongi’s vulnerability is so inspiring. He’s been through a lot. My understanding is that the sleeping pill OD depicted in this MV is real, though it happened when he was a teen (pre-BTS). The accident that wrecked his shoulder is real, too. The continuous pill popping in the video likely represents the painkillers that kept him going. And of course, there were the relentless verbal attacks he endured over the years as well.
Him carving up his face, though, is a metaphor. It represents the origin of AgustD, Yoongi’s angry and bitter alterego, the product of his trauma. The music he made under AgustD gave him some catharsis, I think… but these days, Yoongi says he might be ready to leave AgustD behind. :)

So here is a breakdown of the trilogy for you ~
This trilogy is Yoongi/Suga/Agust D's journey through his trauma and healing. The scar represents his trauma, which he sees as a self-inflicted wound because he was not able to deal with and process the things that happened to him at the time.
In Daechwita, from his second mixtape album D2, he is fighting his rage and paranoia in the form of the mad king. The king's hair is blonde, like Yoongi from his earlier years, so he represents Yoongi of the past. He is alone, too paranoid, angry and in pain to form real connections, and too busy taking heads and raging. The peasant Agust D has his six brothers behind him (representing BTS) and one woman (representing ARMY) who holds the keys for him - to his Happiness? Success? Healing? He takes hold of the keys himself though. He is more confident, lauding his success. He is calmer. His scar is more healed than the King's. He is no longer alone and has proven himself to a degree. He leads a revolution against the mad king and shoots him with a Colt ARMY model revolver, which is a clear reference to the strength he found in ARMY.
In Heageum, from his album D-Day, he is fighting his greed in the form of the corrupt detective. The detective's trauma scar is more healed than the peasant Agust D from Daechwita, but he is still corrupted by greed, in many forms which the song conveys in the lyrics, hunger for approval, for recognition, for various types of success and wealth and power. In the song, he talks about breaking free from old ways of thinking and creating a new paradigm. He talks about how an "endless influx of information seeks a conformity of thought" which he wants to escape from. The Haegeum, which is the first sound you hear in the song, represents breaking away, breaking those patterns. The street Agust D has no scar. His trauma is healed enough to let it go. He still has his six brothers behind him, backing him up. He too leads a revolution, and slays his greed, the detective, with the help of the detective's own henchmen, who now become Agust D/Yoongi's henchmen, perhaps also representing ARMY. A Haegeum has two strings and is played with a bow, and you notice we focus twice on the two red chopsticks. They represent his music. He both slays his enemies/removes obstacles (including those within himself) and feeds himself with his music.
In Amygdala, also from D-Day, he is giving us an origin story for the trauma, including some things that ARMY didn't know about. All of these things truly happened to him, and other things which he did not include like his emergency appendectomy while they were on tour overseas or the time they had to cancel a huge show in Japan because he had a massive panic attack and could not perform. Alluded to are also self-harm and suicidal ideation or attempts which also are true, and which he mentions in his song The Last, as well as medication for pain after his accident and possibly anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications. The MV version of his accident is a very PG version. It was actually in the pre-dawn, it was raining, and he was hit by a delivery truck and drug underneath it and blacked out. He had a very near-death trauma from that, and his shoulder was shattered. This trauma was compounded by keeping it a secret and lying to everyone, saying he fell down some stairs, and downplaying his injuries. This happened before BTS debuted, when they were still trainees. He lied partly because he was not supposed to be moonlighting but he was doing it to earn money for school tuition because his parents were not supporting him. He feared being kicked out of the group for that, and for being injured, but also because he feared his brothers would not be able to debut if he was kicked out. They would have to rework or scrap all their work, with 7 person songs and choreography and all the songs Yoongi wrote and produced. He was in tremendous pain for years and had to get injections in his shoulder before performances and got to the point where he could not lift a coffee mug or water bottle with his left arm. Finally in 2020 he got surgery on the shoulder and is doing much better.
This is typical of BTS, especially Suga/Yoongi, that they will share these deeply personal things with us though their work when they are either ready to work through them or have already worked through them. In Amygdala, he pleads with his mind to release him from the pain of these memories. In the end, the release doesn't come, because he has said that he realizes that these memories are a part of him and his story and what makes him himself. He doesn't want to forget them. But he can move past the pain controlling him. Which he did in front of all of us through the course of his world tour. His stage performances were an incredible artistic expression of moving through this pain, and by the last show he burst into tears in the last part of his set and sobbed through the final few songs in a cathartic release and display of love and trust of ARMY that was an honor to witness. He asked ARMY to help him sing the songs when his voice failed him as he was wracked with sobs. It is a stunning display of an artist pouring his whole soul into his work, as BTS members all do. Then he was able to smile and laugh and talk with us afterwards and he finally showed us the location of his 7 tattoo. All the guys have one, but he kept the location of his a secret. It's on his left shoulder, of course. As he finally left the arena after the final show of the tour, the door from Amygdala appeared and he smiled and waved and walked through it.

Wow, thank you for sharing all this, some of it I was aware of but not all, so I appreciate it. It hurt to watch this video as I could literally feel the pain he was expressing in his song, it definitely brought me to tears. I truly hope that he has found the peace and happiness that he deserves. My heart goes out to him as he has dealt with so much pain and hardship, and has given so much of himself to others even at times when he didn't seem to have a lot to give. Suga, along with his BTS brothers deserve all the accolades and rewards they have earned, they worked hard and kept the faith, even when it was a struggle to do so. Love them all so much, and I have a great amount of respect for them all, and for Suga especially, as his music hits on a much deeper level. Yoongi/Suga/ AgustD is a truly gifted artist, and I am grateful for his music, I know it has helped me through some dark times.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

You should also listen to his song it's called the last... When he was going through that difficult time 😢I suffer from depression and anxiety and depression and panic attacks.... And I can relate to suga so much... Please do a reaction to bts guide by Taylor Mari.. It's very informative.... Yoongi stands on the edge of absolute greatness - when he returns from his military service, he will set the music world on fire. Each generation has a true music storyteller - people like Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Springsteen...they weave narratives and not just verse and chorus - pictures and scenes are immediately painted in your minds eye from beginning to end - Yoongi is this generation - his generations, master story teller.
There is much to suggest where Suga is concerned - try Snooze from D-Day and/or Seesaw from Love Yourself : Answer - Borahae

Thanks for your reaction. I love this song, is my favorite of the album. It made me cry the first time I watched it because is tells part of Yoongi's traumas
Much of the video refers to an accident Suga suffered shortly before debuting in 2013 while working as a delivery boy to pay for his studies while he was a Bighit trainee. At first, he told his group members that he had fallen from the stairs, but in reality a car hit him when he was riding his motorcycle and he says that after falling he saw that his head was almost under the wheels of the car. Suga did not want to reveal the truth to the agency because he thought they would reject him, after a while he had to say it because his shoulder had been dislocated as a result of the accident and did not heal well becaused of lack of treatment and rehabilitation. Eventually he told the company and they paid his treatment and his studies... after debuting, he had injections and therapies for years until he could not postpone his surgery because over time and being an idol with intense choreography, the injury worsened so he underwent surgery during pandemic time and was offstage for about 3-4 months while he recovered
In another songs he's released in the past as Agust D, on mixtapes for Soundcloud, he talks about his depression, social anxiety and panic attacks, his mom's heart surgery but is the first time I learn about the liver cancer that his father had, that he mentioned, he found out while he was fulfilling his schedule with BTS (which has been very tight and demanding and he probably could not be with his father as long as he would have wanted due to being under contract and his corresponding obligations)
About the wound self inflicted on the face, I think it seeks to reflect how he hurted himself in the past (the mind of a depressed person, we already know that it hurts itself a lot and he mentioned in one of his songs that he have thought about s*u*i*c*i*d*e in the past) and I also think it represents the birth of hisbalter ego Agust D, which would allow him to externalize his shadows in parallel to BTS
When he says: I don't know your name, I think he refers to himself... to that shadow in his unconscious mind... in his song "The Last" he mentioned that his father told him they didn't know him... and he commented that if he did not know himself, how would other people would get to know him? and he also mentioned that sometimes he was afraid of himself
In Haegeum, the one who is the chief of police is the one who killed the tyrant king in Daewchita, who has now become corrupted with power... For me it symbolizes Suga's shadow, which is in his unconscious mind due to his traumas and which he seeks kill whenever he feels he is taking off and gaining more power... a part of him reveals himself to the re-installation of the tyrant and kills him
By the end he is rushing to save himself but he can't open the door, to my is becaused Agust D represents his traumas lodged in the past... and the past cannot be changed 🤔
Although I think that now at this moment he is more at peace with himself, it seems that during the pandemic that shadow returned for a while like many other people who found themselves in a dark place during that period but finally he was able to heal more of his wounds and that is why D-Day arrives
This song is inspired by a book that Yoogi read called "Almond", is about the story of a young man with a disease that prevents him from recognizing and expressing emotions, and which is associated with an undergrowth of the cerebral amygdala, usually the size of an almond. It's a story about growing up, discovering yourself, and accepting that help doesn't always come where we expect it
In their discography, BTS has already touched on deep themes and psychological themes in their ballads, as well as in their rap and more pop songs. For example, in their album Map of the Soul, they were inspired by the theories of Carl Jung, who you may already know, was one of the most popular psychoanalysts of the 20th century and founder of depth psychology, which is mainly based on what exists between consciousness and the unconscious. Jung coined the "map of the soul" and different concepts to explain it, some of them are archetypes that, as if it were a universe that we carry inside, allow us to draw a map that shows how our psyche is configured and each rapper has a song about it: Persona (RM), EGO (Jhope), Shadow (Suga) and Anima ("Boy with love" song)
You can watch those MV next if you like
    Regards from Mexico 💜

He worked part time delivering and had a motorcycle accident in which he couldn’t tell anyone because it was the beginning of BTS and he thought he’d miss his opportunity so he worked needing surgery and in a lot of pain. I believe the I don’t know you’re name and seeing him in two different points is him being august D and suga his alter ego. But I’ve just become a fan so maybe there’s a different view. I’m so glad I found him.

Yes, the MV is great at representing PTSD imo. The constant reliving of events & wishing for a different outcome “if only…” are exhausting. From the lyrics, the line about hoping he made the right decisions & the one about the best, second best & third best choices are the ones I feel the most.

i love that he didn't get out at the end.
the depression, anxiety and OCD that he has are chronic and lifelong, and there's no recovery from *chronic* mental anomalies or *personality disorders*.
you'll never recover from having major depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
you learn to cope, either correctly, through self awareness, therapy and practicing therapy (especially dialectical behavioural therapy DBT) and Rx if appropriate,
or incorrectly, w self/other destructive tendencies.
it's important for people to understand this. this isn't a lifestyle choice or "just sleep a lil more".
these disorders and chronic illnesses MAKE YOU WHO YOU ARE. ppl say im not my diagnosis.
no honey, you are. it's that the diagnosis is not ALL you are. but your **insert neuroses** defines you more than your name ever will.
Suga is one of the strongest people I've ever known about and that's because he will never recover from his mental illnesses. he works hard to be able to function and strive and it'll never end.
    he's remarkable.
sincerely, a DBT practitioner, and a DBT therapist, who's passively suicidal, who has MDD, BPD, ADHD, GAD and insomnia.

6:56 - Yoongi was afraid that if he let anyone know he was injured while working another job to try to pay for tuition expenses, etc, he'd lose his opportunity with BTS/BigHit. When he was finally able to talk about it, his boss Bang PD was like "...why didn't you say anything, we would have taken care of you?"
Another positive note - on his last performance of the tour in Seoul he was finally able to walk out of that door, able to move into the next chapter of his life (though he has to do civilian service due to his shoulder injury and surgery.) On his talk show Suchwita, Yoongi and the other BTS members when they each were on as guests all expressed a joy in their renewed commitment to come back for BTS Chapter 2 in 2025 after everyone has done their service.
In short - there is hope, it is worth keeping going.

His accident happened when he was still a trainee and had a part-time job as a delivery man against BIg Hit rules. It really screwed up his shoulder. He was afraid that if he told the company what had happened they would let him go. So he performed for years with his painful shoulder. It wasn't until BTS was huge that he admitted his injury. The company paid for treatment and he is well now. But I imagine the ordeal haunts him.

He told Big Hit about the accident not too long after. After he told them, they said they would wait for him and they paid for his school so he didn't have to take side jobs anymore.
Unfortunately, his shoulder didn't heal 100% and got worse over time, until he had to have the surgery in 2020.

Yoongi said that he believes that we create our scars ourselves, based on how we handle events in our lives. That's what the marking of his face represents. If you notice, the scar is fairly new and raw in Daechwita, then just a faint line on the boss version of Toongi in the MV for Haegeum and the other Yoongi in that video doesn't have the scar at all. The scar represents his past trauma and the condition of the scar represents his healing from that trauma. Since this video is a reflection of his past, we see when the mark on his face was initially created. We also see his struggles to overcome that trauma and that, at the end of the video, he didn't quite succeed. But, again, this is a reflection of his past, so by the end of Haegeum, he has overcome his trauma, and the darkness that it created within him. Very powerful trilogy, and with lyrics and situations that most people can relate to in one way or another.

He once told a deliveryman who was delivering food to him to becareful on the roads and that it didn't matter how late he was, just to take care because it was raining... ain't that the sweetest? Someone's hunger ain't worth someone else's mishap...

It is amazing the diversity of the members talent. They are all very talented. There are pictures of Suga who has such a flat affect. His face looks like smooth plaster. Everyone else in BTS is laughing and joking and playing a game. Then there is Suga. I know there was a time he was getting his meds adjusted. HYBE ,I've read, employs a psychiatrist and they have group meetings once a month.
His most recent pictures with his talk show and being on tour he has a very bright affect and a beautiful smile. He is an engaging interviewer and cares about his guests. They all were having difficulty as solo performers. Jimin called for help as his anxiety disorder was wreaking havoc on his ability to perform. He got death threats and his was very afraid. JHope chartered a plane and arrived and surprised Jimin on stage. RM has dropped what he was doing and has arrived to bolster confidences too. They have been together 10 years. In the early days they were jammed into rooms, were literally cold and hungry. Suga took to delivering pizzas vis motor scooter for extra cash. No one knew of his accident. But pain is pain and I understand his arm was weak and so painful he couldn't sleep. Suga didn't tell anyone for fear of being dropped by HYBE. He had surgery on it recently because it was getting weaker. His was pinned under the car. Sounds like a torn rotator. They heal over time without surgery and you can retain full range of motion. But it is easy to reinjure it and have pain, weakness and loss of motion. I have been dealing with issue over the last 2 years. No surgery.
Remember,on tour, they have 100 to 200 security/ bodyguards because they are responsible for the venue. They have stylists, hairdressers, choreographers, and each other. As soloists that number is miniscule. Their safety is in jeopardy when traveling.
    Stay safe.PAX

Yoongi wasn't supposed to be doing the delivery job because at first Bighit weren't aware of it. They did find out after some time and helped him with his student fees but he did struggle with a lot of the intense choreography due to his shoulder injury. In 2020 he took three months off to have the surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum and to do the followup rehab to get his arm working properly again. He has said that just before he went in to have the surgery he had been unable to lift his arm at all during some of the dance routines. The group did perform without him on a couple of the award shows and left a space for him whenever they were onstage. He now has full movement in his shoulder. His parents are both doing well - his brother got married not so long ago and both his parents were at the wedding.

Because Suga could not get financial support he broke his contract with Big Hit working on the side as a delivery man. So when he was in the car accident he dare not tell anybody for years. All those long hours learning to dance with a busted shoulder. He was in terrible pain. That is why he was misinterpreted as quiet and unresponsive and cold. It led to the joke he wanted to be reincarnated as a stone. He once when asked to describe himself and said eat, work sleep. He developed depression and social anxiety. He overcame so much and it left him deeply empathetic despite his outward persona.

If you're interested, I'd recommend listening to them chronologically on your own time (or on camera, whichever you prefer). You can really see his growth as a person, his inner struggles, and his eventual triumph over his demons.
I recommend exploring the solo work of each BTS member. Perhaps you can react to V's Tiny Desk Concert (11 minutes, 3 songs) next.

The solo works are incredible, they are very talented, individually and as a whole BTS. I am loving all of their music/work.

Thank you very much for finishing the trilogy, and with your background I thought it likely you'd be able to get more out of it than usual!

Re: BTS being generally uplifting...yes and no.
They cover a lot of difficult and dark subject matter as BTS too, including: heartbreak, loss, loneliness, self-harm, addiction, suicide, depression, their own past struggles as artists, socio-political and socio-economic issues, their own personal identity struggles, historical and cultural commentary, a national tragedy, etc. It's often done in songs that appear lighthearted or upbeat on the surface or done in a way that is feisty/fierce or hopeful. Their songs have always spoken truth to power and touched on subjects considered taboo in their industry or their culture, or the world in general. They have always been brutally honest. Aside from the serious material which they cover as a group or that touches on their personal stories together as a group, they even tell very personal individual stories of different members on their BTS albums in solo songs like Begin, Lie, Reflection, First Love, MAMA, Trivia: Love, Outro: Ego, Interlude: Shadow, Trivia: Just Dance, Persona, Filter, My Time, Inner Child, Moon and Respect. You have not seen enough of their hundreds of songs to have a true sense of their body of work as a whole. But it is true that their solo work gives them more room to tell their personal stories and tell them in their own way, without regard to how the work reflects on the group, as they do have to consider with their solos on BTS albums.
