Gintama is a special anime. You either die for it or die from it.

Go for it. Gintama is peak comedy and peak shonen drama. When it gets serious (in later parts) it's better than most of the popular shows. Every character is lovable and you bond with them over the shenanigans and crazy stuff they do. Then when the shit hits the fan it hits that much harder.
Even those small arcs are fire 🔥

Gintama is exactly the kind of comedy I think you guys would love. Plus, it does so much more than just comedy. Sorachi, the mangaka behind Gintama, was voted Japan's favorite mangaka, even over Oda and Araki and Gintama is incredibly beloved over there. There's a lot of episodic comedy in the show but especially near the beginning. However, there are many mini-arcs with their own stories as well as major arcs that are still relatively short but impact the overarching story of the show. If you guys do decide to check it out, I'd recommend starting with EPISODE 3 in particular. The first two episodes are a special that is intended for manga readers and some of the jokes don't land as well if you aren't already familiar with the characters. The cast in Gintama is really strong, but there are a lot of character based jokes in the show that get funnier as you learn more about and become more attached to the characters themselves.

YES!! Gintama is such an incredible show. Not all of the jokes translate as well to English, but it never fails to make me happy. Same with Space Dandy hitting the exact same every rewatch.
Gintama is amazing. I'd recommend checking the Openings and Endings, as they do have some bangers.

Gintama is an anime that lasted for 15 years in the same group as One Piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball, JoJo, etc., which is one of the groups called Shonen Jump Manga. This Gintama is not in other anime, but I often do parodies using other anime, Japanese current events and celebrities. Also, it's interesting and vulgar, and sometimes there are cool battles and moving scenes, so I seriously recommend it. It is also a work that you want to erase your memory and review, and it is a work that you want to see many times while having memories. I recommend you to take a look at all the stories.😂

3:21 The character in that scene's voice actor is actually the same person that played Shinji's dad in Neon Genesis, Gintama makes funny references like that every episode (Well, not specifically Neon Genesis lol)

while gintama has some of the best humor in any comedy anime, its serious arc are good enough to rival most shounen! it gets really emotional sometimes too. highly recommend it :)
i love gintama its hella funny and when it gets serious it gets SERIOUS AND EMOTIONAL however u kinda have to know a lot about anime and japanese culture otherwise some jokes and references will fly straight through ur head absolutely recomend it but maybe after yall have watched a ton of other animes

Gintama is still one of my faves!
The Gintama manga was published by Shonen Jump magazine, which also published Bleach, DBZ, HxH, One Piece, and a bunch of others, so copyright issues aren't too big a deal in the mamga, though they also make referencs to non-Jump manga as well. Not sure how it works with the different animation studios being involved though.

Daily life of high school boys is a show I will recommend to watch. BTW Gintama is a show where you can see off brand versions of many other shows. Hell, they even off branded wii games, for more information watch the show.
Nichijou has some AMAZING scenes, such as the Principle VS Deer. Seriously funny shit.
I think it's a good work as good as the genre of Attack on Titan is different. The last that lasted for 15 years made me cry. You don't have any regrets! At first, it might be a good idea to see the opening and ending to explore the atmosphere!😂

A lot of the jokes r hit or miss but it's complimented by occasionally having serious arcs.
If you're looking for out of pocket I definitely recommend ghost stories dub! Although it is quite offensive
They dont have the license for other anime so they always make a joke about how the anime might get cancelled and how sunrise (the studio) might get sued over that

Edit: Gintama is about a world where aliens invaded 20 years ago and won. The main character is a former human soldier from that war and now lives as deadbeat oddjob in the alien-fied japan. You can think this show as the japanese South Park, mocking and parodying a lot of anime/games/pop culture in a sometimes vulgar way.
