I am planning a trip to Tulum, and in desperate attempts to make sense of the crazy price variation between different parts of the town that I am seeing online, I chanced upon your channel. How refreshing that someone is really trying to keep it real rather than make glamorous videos that gloss over the reality or are out of reach of most travelers. Channel like yours are what keeps CZcams worthwhile. Well done! I look forward to more of your content. Happy travels.

🐬Great job CHRISTINE - KUDOS! LOVED YOUR ENERGY and awesome VIDEO! I use to live in Tulum, back in the 90s (before it was as popular) I paid a$20 clams a night for a beach bungalow! Not any more! LOL! Our fave is the downtown scene during high season- Its close to walk and bike everywhere - we hit the beach every other day and did tours & cenotes every other day to break it up! We have stayed on the beach over recent years - but since were NEVER at the hotel we feel it was a waste of Moolaa to pay $600 - 1000 per night just to sleep 4 hours! 🐠My best advice for people who want to check out these beautiful beach boutique hotels is to Simply go OFF season ( MAY - early Dec) High season is Xmas, January through April. The prices are about 1/4 off season.🦀 I AGREE with you Christine - Playa del Carmen ( as the locals call it just "playa" ) is STUNNING and the prices are 1/2 or less than Tulum. There is also Much MORE to do.... more clubs, more shopping and a better selection of restaurants! I personally recommend staying 1/2 of the trip in Tulum and 1/2 in Playa for the best of both worlds. 🐛If you have Extra time I HIGHLY recommend taking a bus past Cancun to the ULTRA MAR boat dock and cruise over to the island of ISLA MUJERES! IT IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVE! Since Tulum has become so trendy - I find the people to be a bit fresa (aka snobby) It is a must see, but the vibe in Isla Mujeres DRAWS you in.....its very chill, hippie~esque...BEAUTIFUL Deserted island feel .... and a VERY HAPPY PLACE! Best wishes CHRISTINE (Thank you!) and Namaste! 🐙

Loving these Tulum videos. They are so helpful. I’m considering staying at Copal but I can’t find any first hand reviews on it. I’m definitely going to make a tour video because that’s the type of stuff I look for before traveling.

    • @ChristineLozada

there are tons of SUPER nice looking (brand new) places popping up in tulum. for me (i'm not suggesting this for you, but for me) i would never stay somewhere without reviews. especially in a place like tulum. i need that 'guaranatee that at least ONE person said it was good'. if no one did.. ahhhhh! i dunno. copal i looked at on a map. it might 'seem close' to everything, but for me personally, i wouldn't stay there. it's very remote. that entire area is under construction without 'new roads'. like think dirt roads. and no cabs. and no uber. my friend stayed in that area and it was her biggest regret. sick house that was soooo luxe and so cheap and she could never get TO anywhere in tulum

After hearing your advice and doing some more price comparing and review reading, the online hotel pricing seems to be so arbitrary! There are so many hotels that we are just going to show up and book one on the spot. I'm betting we'll get a much cheaper and more realistic rate. Just came back from Tulum last week. We are a family of 4, so with kids we were looking for a quiet place with a large pool, so I rented an Airbnb in the town. The condo was very nice, but you need a car to move around. I can't even imagine doing your grocery shopping on a bike. The restaurants are mostly expensive, lots of trash and dust, extreme poverty when it comes to locals, so I did not like it. We went to the beach club but it was wavy and lots of sargassum, so nobody was swimming. We snuck into one hotel's pool and were able to spend some 3-4 hrs there without being caught. Otherwise the beach is not worth it, because you can use the beach club only if you pay ( about 300 pesos per person for a palapa or their food). We stayed before at the gated community called Puerto Aventuras and it was much better: it's very safe, no slums, there are plenty of restaurants and the beach is always clean:they have a Laguna, so it's swimmable. A bunch of cenotes close by. Apartments there are not cheap, but it's worth it. Just across the road from the community there is a town with the same name with plenty of local restaurants and Chedraui - the supermarket. There's also a huge souvenir store with a glass factory inside. You can watch them blow glass right there.
