You are most welcome!!
I checked out many videos , and your video is the only one I was able to learn to cast on. 😮Thank you sooo m😅uch
my mom was teaching me when she passed away... I was 7 and 35 years later I am here trying to learn... thank you... it brings me lovely memories.
DB 1978
I’m so sorry about your mom. Praying for you to have lots of sweet memories of her as you learn to knit. ❤️🙏🏻
Love you and praying for you
oh DB 1978, we are all so grateful to our moms and grandmas for sharing these skills - we send you lots of love and hope that knitting helps to heal the pain of losing your mom xxx much love, Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Sorry for you mom, and im happy that your knitting again! im 12 and im learning how to knit
@@maddiesroom9124 and @Larissa Nasa I'm 12 and yeah it really is hard I just started today so I cant complain can I
edit: im 14 now lol
i have no idea what I'm doing and I've already cried 3 times 😭😭😭
I know it's been a year haha but: it's ok! Don't give up! If you already did a year ago, watch again and keep trying! ❤
I knew going into this would be hard, and its not even hard physically, but my memory problems are causing me struggles to learn it and Im trying so hard to not cry right now, I am determined to try and stitch one row lol
I am a 55-year-old grandfather covered in tattoos and love to ride Harley Davison while looking at me you would never imagine that I’d love to knit. And I would like to thank the woman in this video who showed me how to knit you are a wonderful and blessed person you took your time and I was able to understand you 110% the first thing I made was a #4 Rainbow yarn for a hot plate. Now I am going to knit my two granddaughters scarfs w/#6 I will show you them in a picture God bless you and thank you. I’m having so much fun
I'm supposed to be typing up a 2,500 word essay but here I am learning how to knit 3:30am UK time 🙃
Well I heartily approve, I would rather be learning how to knit! Keep up the good work (but don't forget to finish the essay!) kindest wishes, merion x
that’s me right now
I thought I was the only crazy one haha 😂
Trick us random words and just turn them white and bloom 1000 just turned to 2500
I see so many people here with a story for why they decided to learn to knit…. I just saw knitting needles when I was buying yarn to crochet with and thought “why not” and decided to learn
literally me today all i was going in for was glue but i walked out with needles and yarn
Knitting and crocheting have been difficult especially to find videos that have clear and concise instructions with a demonstration. This is definitely the best video I’ve seen.
Yay- That's so wonderful to hear! Thank you so much 🥰❤️
For a person with adhd & a learning disability brain this tutorial was so helpful & I understood it so fast. The repetition & slow pace & an image of what you’re doing over & over helps a lot to learn in no time. Crocheting is so hard I gave up on it I couldn’t understand it or pick it up so I’m trying knitting & everyone says knitting is harder but this looks so much easier!!
This is such great feedback! Thank you so much for sharing this with us and Happy making ❤️🥰
The patience you have during the entire video is so warm and comforting! Makes me really feel I can do it!
Thank you so much! Your way of teaching is so calming and peaceful. 🙂🙂
It’s been really hard trying to improve my knitting after years of vigorous crochet. Getting a hang of it is a slow process and I keep returning to my crocheting hook out of sheer frustration. That being said, your tutorial is incredibly helpful and you sound so encouraging that it makes me feel better about myself just a tad bit more
Have you been able to learn it? I've been trying on and off and at this point I think I'm donating my knitting needles 😭 I can barely get two stitches and they're always so tight
OH MY GOSH I WAS SO STUPID I THOUGHT THAT THE WORK WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON BOTH NEEDLES AT ALL TIMES that was my issue 😂
@@alwaysreadin163 I still don't know why we can't use some very long crochet needles, like the hook is SO helpful, why make a pointed end instead? The tension is always wrong and it slips
@@glacialimpala true that! Isn't there a type of crochet that has a lot of loops on the hook at once? I think it's called Tunisian crochet, I've seen it floating around pinterest a lot. I usually have natural nails that are on the longer side (ie a bit over my finger tip) and I usually have to use my nail so I definitely second the hook thing lol
Just keep going in spite of the mistakes. I'm finding it easier as I just keep doing it and not trying to be perfect. I still prefer crochet but my wrist hurts if I do too much, so knitting will be an alternative.
Thank you for slowing down & showing the stitch multiple times.
This is a big help for me 😊
You are so welcome! Happy making ✨🥰
i’ve been struggling a lot with my anxiety and depression for years and have decided to take up a
hobby and knitting has always always tooken an interest in me. i’ve always been drawn to it in a way. and this time i’m taking some action into learning. and here i am watching this video
on repeat hoping i can catch on and once i’ve caught on and learnt my plan is to get the yarn & needle & practice and practice then hopefully start my own business once i’m good enough.
Took five days, two hours a day, but I'm finally understanding! Thank you so much for your How To. It's been immensely helpful in training my hands to do the work.

Im only 10 years old and im trying to knit, every vid i watch is HORRIBLE ;-; but this video helped me knit a blanket!!!
Me too!
Have you watched sheep and stitch how to knit series?
Same this is my mums account and I am trying so far I’m not getting it but I’m keep trying :))))
I couldn't agree more!
@Amelia Barrett yaa
Thank you SO MUCH! I’m just learning to knit at 34. Have never picked up so much as a needle or yarn and was becoming a bit frustrated with some of the CZcams tutorials I was coming across. However, the way you explain things in a way a newbie can understand and repeat the motions is so helpful! I learned more watching 15 minutes of your video than I had in 2 hours fumbling through others!
Oh Cesar, thank you SO much for such kind words. I am thrilled to bits that you have found the video helpful and welcome to the world of knitting! It's great fun, and once you get those fingers working you'll never stop! Kindest knitting wishes, love from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
I agree with you about this! She makes it VERY easy for beginners to understand and copy what she does!
Jesus loves you all no matter what he is coming back soon Jesus is king my savior my everything ❤❤
I'm a 78 year old man trying to keep my little grey cells ticking and and thought knitting was a good idea, I've looked at a few sites before finding yours and although I've only just started watching I'm so impressed that I though pausing the video as you began to stick and telling you how much I'm impressed. Many thanks, martin
❤️❤️❤️
This was a perfect tutorial. I sat down with my grandchildren (10 & 7 years old) and my daughter and we all learned together. The 7 year old picked it up very quickly thanks to your tutorial.

My grandmother taught me to knit when I was a child. I remembered the knitting part but not the cast on/off part. This was very helpful. I appreciate it! :)

THANK YOU! Clear and concise. After numerous attempts to learn knitting I finally reached the cast off without quitting.
Thank you so much for teaching me how to knit. You where the only one I could inderstand
Thank you for your wonderful teaching.
Needed a “refresher” - This was PERFECT!
Same here. She’s so easy to follow to right?

yay- that's absolutely wonderful to hear! Happy making ❤️
Best beginning video ever
This is so kind! Thank you so much, Merion x
Your calm and clear explanations are so appreciated! I started crocheting years ago and stopped without finishing my first scarf. I thought I had no interest or aptitude in knitting but your video has inspired me to seriously reconsider!
Love this tutorial, very good directions with lots of repeats!
Thank you Kimberly! Very happy that you loved it 🙂Merion x
I just want to say thank you I now can knit because of you
Love it so much thank you very much!

After watching several tutorials (and I failed miserably) I finally learned thanks to you!!!! It’s slow coming but I’ll keep trying. I crochet better but there’s just something about the knit stitches I prefer. Thank you!

This is such a good video; thank you for posting! I am a 51 year old man, whose mum briefly had a go at teaching me how to knit as a child, but I haven't done it since - gender prejudice and whatnot... I'm at the age now where I don't care about such things! Also I have recently joined a theatre group, whose latest play is a comedy set in a pub, where we put on various special events to try to save the pub from closure, post-Covid... one of these events is a Knit & Natter! My character is rubbish at knitting, but I thought it would be a good idea to teach myself the basics, so I knew how to comically do it wrong - a bit like when Les Dawson played the piano! I have however now become hooked, finding knitting such a lovely stress-relieving activity (at a time when I am going through some difficulties, mental health-wise)... so thank you for helping me to resume something I started as a child, which has great healing powers for my mental wellbeing... 😊
Best beginner video on YT
That's so kind! Thanks so much 🧡
I love this lady so much now I know how to knit and kitting is actually really fun!

Re-learning for my granddaughter that decided she wanted to learn Knitting.
IT WAS THE BEST CLASS OF ALL I LOOKED TO TRY AND REMEMBER.
Very nice video instruction. It was 45 years since I knitted, I had forgotten much! This was one of the easiest to see and follow. Thank you!
such a great tutorial! I'm an avid crocheter who has tried to learn to knit time after time, but it never quite sticks. this time I think it will!
“sticks” lol

You couldn’t possibly know how much I mean it when I say this: Thank you. I am an extreme introvert and sometimes I just need a little me time. Knitting is just so relaxing and it’s good whenever I’m overwhelmed. Thank you so much for making this video so simple. I truly mean it ❤
This makes us smile so much! Thank you for you lovely comment. It is absolutely wonderful to hear that you have found your happy place in knitting and hope you will enjoy it for many many years to come! 🥰✨
I had already begun a renewal of long ago knitting skills as a girl, currently a retiree. From my in person tutoring, with your excellent video I have a good grasp on what to do. It is so very easy to follow what I see and what you say. I'm making cotton dish cloths for my first projects. Thank you!
This is the only video that is simple to understand with friendly explanation. Thank you!

You are so, so, so lovely! I learned this stitch as a child, but my Nana was the one who cast on and cast off for me. It seemed like magic! Thank you for showing me how to do magic in this video ☺️💖
This is so precious🥰 Happy making✨
Wonderful tutorial! Very clear explanations and demonstration to be able to follow along. I can officially say I've learned how to knit! Looking forward to making a scarf now. Thank you! ☺️🧶🧣
This was the first knitting video I watched and I loved it. I couldn’t find it when I looked for it again and peeked at a few others - a world of difference! I was determined to find this video again. Both the technique and low key presentation of this one are ideal for a beginner, thank you so much!

Seven years old and my mom started knitting. and she’s mostly crochet and I thank you so much that you help me learn how to knit it was the best ❤
I am 7 and started two days ago. Thanks to Lovecrafts I was able to improve
I literally use chopsticks as needles and works well!
That's amazing🥰
Your voice is so soothing to this American! Thank you for being so encouraging
I'm in UK and I also commented that her voice is calming.
She has a very nice British accent. 👍🏼 😁
All my winter clothes when I was a baby knitted by my mom, now I'm learning from you so I can make a jumper for my mom, thank you very much for the first lesson
That is so very special 🧡✨
Love the way she explained it!!
"In, around, under, off" it's like a music hahaha thanks
I’ve never cast on like this! I’ll have to try. Thank you for the detailed tutorial! I’m trying to teach a friend to knit but it’s hard to break it down as nicely as you do.
Hi Kendyll, there are so many ways to cast on! It's great to use the method you know best, or the best one for the project - and we're glad this video helped you teach your friend! That's what we love about crafts - sharing the skills with each other! Kindest wishes to you both, with love from Merion and the LoveCrafts show xx

I know how to crochet and I finally bought some needles and wanted to try out knitting with a friend. It's only been half an hour and I already knitted a couple of rows! This tutorial is super clear and I can't wait to see what I will make in the future and how I'll improve
as a first-timer, this is insanely helpful! I managed to make 1 swatch so far, a bit wonky but I got the basics, thank you so much!
You taught me how to knit today! ❤️
I was told by my son’s school - today - that for his online (we just started last week) handwork class the only way for him to learn knitting (which imbibes so many skills for a 7 year old) was if I learnt how to knit and then taught him - as online handwork for little children is an oxymoron - as one needs the teacher by ones side. I was in a panic because knitting has never been a part of my world - embroidery, yes but never knitting.
You managed to teach this to me......and online too!
Thank you! ❤️
Jesus loves you all no matter what he is coming back soon Jesus is king my savior my everything ❤❤❤
Thanks! This was really helpful
This is the tutorial I have been looking for! Thank you for clear instructions communicated at the right pace. Just what I needed to actually complete my very first knitted square. So grateful. 🙂

Never knit b4, ty for the slow and thorough instructions. Def going to soon give it a try. I'm a crocheter but I love the look of knit on shawls. So I'm determined to give it a go.
Thank you so much Nathalie! Grab your needles and have a go! I am a crocheter too, and I love them both for different things! We'd love to hear how you get on - come back and tell us! Love, Merion xx

Today I finally got the hang of casting on AND I made my first row. Thank you for being a great teacher 😊
This is so amazing, you should be so proud 🥰
You are such a wonderful teacher.
My first time learning how to knit, what is the size of the needle? What kind of yarn is the best for beginners?
this woman is such a good teacher and her voice is sooo calm and patient and makes knitting so doable
Best tutorials I've found on youtube!

If you look she actually crosses the one she's going to pull through over the yarn on her fingers before she pulls it through
im right handed
My first try and I make a piece. Thanks a lot for good explanation and showing everything step by step. It's a big change for me from crocheting. :)
Omg omg omg. I think I finally got it. I have been trying for 15 years to learn to knit and I got it.
This is amazing! yay🥳✨🧡
Thank you. All the Americans hold the right needle over the top. Too many steps that way. It’s so much better to hold the right needle between the thumb and forefinger. When you get faster the needle I. And yarn around get done in just one step.
Hi Pamela, we always say there's no right or wrong way, it's just whatever feels comfortable to you! I'm glad you found it helpful! Thank you so much for watching and leaving us a comment! Love, Merion x
I can not be the only one who physically can not get what he's doing, because it should be like looping around, I be like, ok, loops around, and then it will completely fail, I've been tryingfor an hour, I can not seem to get hang of this how
