Really enjoyed listening to Dickie's back story here.
I was one of his early customers when they launched Ship30. By that point I had spent nearly $7k on courses to try and move away from my full-time job in tech, but kept failing to launch. Today I'm running a six-figure media and education biz in the design space with nearly 1M followers, and I genuinely owe it to Dickie and Nicolas.
Great episode.
Only the beginning Tom!! Excited to wach you keep building.
Would you say getting myself into the next Cohort of Ship30 will help me along in what I am chasing as mentioned above? I know they have Premium Ghostwriting Acad as well but I'm not sure I want to come out of pocket like that. Congrats on your success thus far!
This is a great interview. I lost a job I had for 8 years in April 2023, took a break, traveled to South East Asia for two months, and came home in December to find out my dad had cancer. Enter 2024, finally found a job, started the end of Jan, in a cubicle all day after spending 3 years working fully remote. Then my dad died on Feb 3rd. Im 53, he would have been 70 April. As I was going to work this morning, while at work and ever since I left work, I'm telling myself one thing over and over. I no longer want to spend the rest of my life chained to a desk. I no longer want to subject myself or need someone's permission to live the way I want. And then I find this podcast tonight. I want time and location freedom. Short term I want to make $100k with a side hustle within the next 18 months so I can quit and continue building towards $ 10k - $100k per month. Thanks for the motivation!
I love that man!
We create this podcast for people like you🙏🏾
Sorry for your loss. What helped me after my father passed was sharing the great memories we had.
So sorry for your loss. Lost my parents recently--unexpectedly--so I can understand your pain and drive. Keep it up!
Sorry for your loss... I'm glad you're keen on the positive side of life, and making the most of what you have to get what you want out of life.

So sorry for your loss. I wish you the very best for your future endeavours!🙏🏾😊
My three favorite channels: The Calum Johnson Show, Stock Brotha, & How Money Works. Make my week complete! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thank you mate 🙏🏾
I’m over 40 under 60, my goal is online to make 10k to 100k a month within 24 months. I need freedom, tired of asking for permission, and need to be more involved with my family
Great ! All the best Chris
I believe in you
I’m 35 but I feel the same way!!
Damn!! Thats amazing. I would be ok with 100$/month, but hopefully I’ll learn to dream bigger
Good luck, you should of made enough experience by now to know what to start.
Loved the peek behind the curtain on how Dickie got started breaking it down into realistic, practical steps that anyone can follow. INSPIRING episode. THANK YOU!!
Inspiring in deed, keep it up with your youtube channel as well. Super valuable in our current time 😊
Finally a no gimmick interview! He asked the key questions we all need to know to really put things into action. Thank you both!
This was a lot of fun. Thanks for asking such insightful questions Calum. Ready for round 2 whenever!
Was a pleasure man
Someday I'm going to figure out how to build something valuable and all my decades of woe and misfortune will serve as fascinating conversation!
Or i'll just die trying. I don't know what else to do with myself anyhow!
@@VirtualSGat least you got plenty of dirt and mud to dig in. 😂.
And yeah I am right there also. At the point of why the hell not go for it. Because the alternatives are boring and seems like such a soulless drudge anyway. This one also appeals to me and gives my life meaning.
It is important to find a model and a mode of operation that one can see going for a long time, though.
Not just sign up for the "time and location freedom and be my own boss".
Some of the online business models would give me that, but still feel like a drudge and more or less another job.
@@DonDealio I haven't found model, nor mode of operation.
I just like to do creative things... it's only natural to crave an audience... to convince myself that I deserve success.
Time will tell. The train keeps rolling, no matter.
@@VirtualSG Listen to Dickie & Cole, and to Dan Koe and to Justin Welsh - the combination of these should give you a pretty good idea how to get going. If you are OK with something that you build at low budget and taking the time for organic growth.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Main key note in this Podcost: "Publish everyday until you go viral" even if only our mother is supporting us ❤
I'm just seeing this now and it's at the exact moment I needed it. Especially your discussion on "Just picking something and start"
The value I get from your podcast is unreal. I appreciate you being authentic while doing what you believe adding to the universe. Idk how you time these posting when you do, but as soon as I get to work you’ve already posted less than an hour ago….This podcast is my morning coffee💯
I love to hear this!
Starting out this was exactly my goal, at the beginning of the each week ambitious people could listen and receive value from it
Thank you🙏🏾
That’s a long morning coffee!
@@majesticmythology nice follow-up to the majestic morning quickie 😋
"I wanna take the show to the next lvl, better production, it's even better 'guests' " hhhhh, I find current guests so good, I don't know what does "better" mean 🤷♂
This episode absolutely has blown me away. I have my came across an episode that resonated so hard with me. I'm so glad I came across this episode and I can't wait for future ones to come.
Awesome job!
Glad to hear this Gabe! ✊
Don't quit until your side hustle brings in money which is sufficient for you/family. And that money comes in with work and sacrifice. Remember, your failure was not due to lack of know-how; but lack of sacrifice. Success requires sacrifice - your time, comfort, some money.
This interviews was AMAZING! There were so many gems in this! I can’t wait for new podcasts!
1 start podcast side hustle
2 generate 10k/month
3 get bigger table
keep spreading this message! you don't have to quit your job to make your side hustle your full-time. you can do both at the same time, it won't be easy but if you want it bad enough anything is possible.
great talk, great story, great value as always, thank you!
This was so good!! So much value in this discussion
Bro this was one of the best podcast i listened to!
Thanks for listening my friend ✊
Really enamoured by the ‘luck surface area’ concept at 21:00. Great pod, gents!
Great listening Calum. You listen with intent and love the little notes you make. Have a great week 😊
Thank you for this wonderful episode. You really provided a lot of value and quality. You earned a sub today.
What an excellent interview. This has given me direction for pricing my services. Thank you both!
Great interview 👌🏽
Such value from this information! Great interview. Thanks
Great interview, thanks for putting this out there! Something happened to the audio at 49:25 or so it seems. Besides that, enjoyed everything about it. Keep up the good work!
Excellent collaborative insights, between (Interviewer & Interviewee) -- about the "nitty gritty" process.
First time hearing of Dickie
Around the 35 min mark that’s a brilliant idea.
I’m always watching a CZcams video knowing it could’ve been condensed.
This is a clear sign that what I was thinking works.
I love learning but may as well optimize the info.
Love that you got to do this interview at the Shipyard Calum. I'm in Cole and Dickie's Premium Ghostwriting Academy, so it was great to listen to this episode!
Thanks for listening Carolene!
Great talk. The host is also angling questions in a good way, helping the guest bring many aspects out. I will keep an eye on it. (Also looking forward to see the talk with Nick Cole coming).
Is there a link to this/these tweets from Dickie that they are referring to?
I see what you're trying to do with the table. I recommend it be more square or round. The rectangle seems a waste of space to me, but if it works it works.
Very enjoyable thanks.
Onlything you’re missing is saying “82% of our viewers aren’t subscribed yet” channel and heart felt moment feel to much like diaryofaceo. But non the less you gained a sub from me. Quality work
Lol my thoughts as well .. however I also just subbed
Absolute banger. Love dickies thinking. And great question Calum, keep crushing
Thanks for watching my dude ✊
Looking forward to the video of the interview with Cole! 💯🙏🏻
Coming soon
This was awesome 🎉
As usual…very insightful interview. Extremely Thought Provoking
Thanks for watching, Mike! Glad you found it worth watching.

Thank you
Since discovering your podcast I have gotten valuable information from your interviews. Thank you and I will subscribe one I get my first check from my new job.
I’m working on putting out my content continuously @jsrussell56. I can’t wait until my writing reaches the audience who it will serve and make such an impact that it make a dynamic change.
Awesome russel 😊 love that you're taking the right steps to making it happen. Stay focused and you'll get it... Let's go! 🎉
I really enjoyed this interview. I had never seen these two gentlemen before. How do I find Dickie elsewhere? I may be asking prematurely as I am only half way through video. But I am hoping to find more on him now.
This podcast so enlightening, and I am not even finish it yet. Holy F***. I am an AI startup founder who wrote one international book on AI product strategy, and I could not be more motivated to write again!.... Thanks a lot, Calum and Dickie!
Let's go go go! 🎉 keep at it and get some momentum and you'll see results sooner or later!
38:18 - 39:20 HUGE Words!! Thank you bro!!
It didn't take him 9 months to get to 300 and 12 hr to get to 700. It took him 10 months to get the knowledge for the growth he wanted
Funny.. the opening is what I am doing in the morning. Waking at 5-6am
*This was beyond awesome! A friend sent me the link to **#THIS** and I must say, I totally love the valuable information shared! The two of you have definitely shifted my MINDSET!!!* 🎬
Thank you🙏🏾
Love to hear that
@@thecalumjohnsonshow *You're welcome--*
I have seen a few videos like this now. It seems that these people are always coming from white collar jobs. I already get up at 330am. I'm not getting up earlier man. Would be nice to find someone that left a blue collar job to start their own thing that wasn't another blue collar job. I'm trying to break out as a photographer but it is hard to do at the end of the day. Doesn't mean I won't make it but I sure would like to hear someone else's story.
I also have to say that the lessons in here are still amazing and worth a ton. I was curious if writing is still valuable now with all the advancement in AI? It's surprising you didn't ask that question.
@@willcapozzigood point 👍
Find a lane that fits your situation
Take random photos and sell them on photo resale sites. Set a goal of how many photos you'll take weekly. Use your cell phone to upload a specified number of pics daily from an online drive. The key is to start somewhere and use your time wisely. You have nothing to lose by trying.
Great interview... I just wish they were sitting a little closer together.
Hello Calum , I am fascinated by. The basic yet essential questions you asked Dickie..... Yet ..I am very curious to know what were you writing on your note pad the whole conversation......how do you take notes off of an interview .????
That is a crazy snowplow beard.
Someday I'm going to figure out how to build something valuable and all my decades of woe and misfortune will serve as fascinating conversation!
Or i'll just die trying. I don't know what else to do with myself anyhow!
Is the table really that close or split screens joined together?
I was thinking the same thing. Table maybe needs to be wider...fantastic job with the guests, by the way. This is only my second time watching one of your episodes and your guests are exactly who I need to hear from 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That table sucks. But I think it's so he can set up his 3 cameras a certain way.
Did you say the only other job you had was a tutoring gig? He didn’t have a part time job during college?
Nobody dreams of working for blackrock. Here’s my tips after making an abundance of money. Work for yourself. 1. Money don’t make you happy. 2. Family and friends are more important. 3. Stay focused on you first. 4. Find what you are good at. 5. Keep learning new skill sets since things are changing at a rapid rate. 6. Stop eating junk processed foods. 7. Learn how to speak in a positive way. 8. Treat people with kindness. 9. Learn the tax code and how it works. 10. Invest your money
No one should stay at a job for 10 years. Change every 2-3 or start your own biz
Although his posts on X don't bring much traffic or comments.
Whenever I hear people say, “I just wrote for an hour a day to practice and that’s how I got started…” what did you write? Like topic examples? Did you write specific types of things? Or just randomly like a journal entry? Asking because I want to write and make money by doing it I just don’t know how to get started, like with what I guess.
They don’t give step by step , then how would they sell you courses?
Try searching how to start newsletters
This wasn’t me being negative in any way… it was genuine curiosity. Many “courses” aren’t courses but all the gatekept info behind a paywall. So I was just, out of my OWN curiosity, asking deeper questions. But thanks anyway…. 👍🏼
Let the interviewee talk. Let the interviewee teach you and the audience something new.
" (Without Any Chance Of Failure) " Damn this is some click bait title.
🎉
Too late already quit 🤷🏻♀️
so why are you not doing it then,
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If all you put in for study is a pumber that comes off on a real job, it means school is just a lie. For that reason one must be resilient enough to start your hassle
Damn. I subscribed when you was at 4k.
I feel a bit greedy seeing you grow.
Internet Logic: “Stay as my precious little secret, I don’t want you to succeed” 😂😂 💀
Wish you would choose your words more carefully, Calum.
There will be no future guest "better" than this guy or worse than any other. You cant have better or worse guests; they're all just great people each with something inspiring and unique to contribute to you, firstly, and then the viewer.
A Bigger subscriber count and operational platform will not help you find any guest "better" than Dickie bro.
Clickbait. Nothing here about $10 million
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I feel like all these people who talk about money were all previously traders on wall street. Seems disingenuous to me.
Fake positive comments
Get a bigger table 😂 .
1 start side hustle
2 generate 10k/month
3 get bigger table
Hey dude, what‘s wrong with your nervous hands? Can‘t you just keep them down when talking? Would be less irritating…
Click bait trash
I’d like to see some provable info.
Content is good but hard to watch. All I hear is or see is a copy cat of " The Diary Of A CEO ". Even how the approach is with talking. Sounds almost identical to how Steven Bartlett talks. At least put your own spin on it. Not all hate though, Some good people on these podcasts. Subscribing, can't wait to see how you turn it into your own flavor over time as you gain more traction.
Lol
Thank you
