- Sorry about the audio levels! Much like converting a van, always take your time and make it right! Lesson learned!
The kitchen cabinet is finally in! It took a lot of work but it paid off. Still have a lot of work to get it all finished up but every step counts!
Thanks for watching!

In addition to the clearcoat already suggested, "Magic Erasers" are my go to for cleaning white surfaces, it does it a great job and won't damage your paint easily. You can usually find them at your local grocery store, but I have also found them in most dollar tree stores. They are also very compact and useful for cleaning other surfaces as well.
Once the project is finished, the tools are put away, and you have the van on the road traveling, the white paint will be easier to maintain. Typically, dirty hands wouldn't be touching all over the cabinets except during installation.
It you plan on cooking in the van you might want some sort of backsplash. Stainless steel might be nice and you could use magnetic hooks to hold utensils, potholders or whatever.
Put a coat or two of clear coat on the white cabinets. This will make it less likely to attract dirt and much easier to wipe and clean. I like to use polycrylic. Its a really hard, fast drying, and clear. Its also water based which is easier on cleanup and easier on your nose. Looks really great by the way:)
Great advise
What about tung oil would that do applied over white paint?
Wow, looks great! I would suggest on the top two openings (under your countertop) instead of putting regular drawers, I would put cabinet fronts that are hinged at the bottom. Once you open one of them, it will act like a little table. Great place to sit on your bed and put your coffee and eat. Inside you could build drawers that you can pull out. I hope this makes sense!
A little Melaleuca Tough and Tender cleaner - non toxic, no strong smell. And white will not get as dirty as you may think. I have always had a red and white kitchen everywhere I go I paint the cabinets white with the high gloss kitchen and bath, and it holds up and stays clean very nicely! Good job - I do love how you van is looking. God bless you!
Another suggestion: Put in the rubbermade bins, then put a table flap over the whole cabinet that you can flip open, with the hydraulic lift arms things (don't know what they are called) on the sides, to use as a table to eat, or put your laptop on etc. while sitting on the bed. Just an idea 4 U! ;)
Really like the way you did the cabinets and countertop. very modern looking !
Great vid...love the trouble shooting discussions. A thought on the back pad...if you hinged the end, you would have a long thin storage slot for things like tripods, fishing rods, cords...with space at a premium, using every inch seems wise.
Everything is looking great, I love the white for your furniture. I use dishwashing soap (Dawn) to clean my white painted surfaces. Saw a couple comments to get rubbermaid containers for the storage - that would help to stop scratches that will show up on the bottom of the storage spaces. One suggestion for what I did on my lower cabinets. I had pull out shelves put in all my under cabinets. It added so much day to day usable space to my cupboards. No more space wasted with things buried in the back - no more moving out all the stuff in the front to get to the back. And I got clear low adhesive Contact shelf liner to protect the shelves from scratches in the white paint.
I been watching all your videos in the background but this time I have to say it.. You sir are amazing..
You do amazing work brother.
That cabinet looks awesome. Reminds me of an arcade cabinet, nice choice.
You used Valspar which is a good high quality paint. All you need is some dollar store anti bacterial wipes to keep the cabinets nice and white. Your van build is really looking amazing.
Your work is amazing. Open bins holds more than drawers. If there was a rectangular opening in that shelf thing there would be a place to store some clothes. I have to treat my RV like a car that has all the stuff necessary for living, theres no room for anything that's not necessary, and you have even less space. But not much less
Is looking awesome :) I clean for a living, so I always say the best way to keep things clean, is to keep cleaning them! I would recommend wiping the white surfaces weekly with diluted dishwashing detergant, and try a cream cleaner on stubborn stains (but go carefully, as they are mildly abrasive).
Nice job on both the bed and cabinet.
When l have a void, crack or knot hole etc in plywood, or dimensional lumber, l use a two part epoxy to fill in the deficient areas.
Epoxy gives much structural strength to a repair and may be stronger than unflawed wood by itself.
When sanded and painted, the epoxy repair is unnoticeable.
I only use wood filler for minor cosmetic repairs that will bear no stress and will receive little wear.
it looks wonderful, I think you might be a bit of a perfectionist
Im so happy to have found your videos. Very impressive work youre doing here. Im gonna have to take some notes from you
I also have a 2010 Transit van and have it set up like yours! Fun to watch you dealing with the same issues of fitting in and around things that I did!! It is looking great! You can use Mr Clean magic eraser sponges to clean painted surfaces.
Adrienne Stearns thank you !!!
Mr clean sponges. Work amazing wonders my friend. 😎🤙
Ho did you attach the cabinets to the actual van
Looks great, keep the videos coming.
Trim will hide the bad plywood at the base of the cabinet.
Maybe work on audio levels, lol, music was much louder than voice.
Great work.
Well done, Josh!
Super awesome shop.
great job!
For the white paint, I suggest the Mr. Clean magic eraser or an off brand version. Works for me!
Yeah a few coats of clear coat so it can just be wiped down...beautiful buold do far!
@12:55 i'm like okay! this guys a G
Nice kitchen!! You don't need drawers - get some nice rubbermade bins to slide in and out. They are really nice, light weight, and cheap too! Maybe try that first. then if it doesn't work then make the drawers.
another great vid ty
Another great vid, teh van is looking stellar, but I second the audio levels,I have to keep turning the volume up and down between the music and you talking.
Thanks! Yea I was rushed with this video, sorry about that!
You are not alone. Most CZcamsrs cannot control the audio, and inevitably, the music is 5 times as loud as the voice. I used iMovie and do not ever have this problem. What do you use?
Minor piece of (hopefully) constructive criticism. The volume level of the music is way louder than your voice so I had to keep turning the volume up and down.
Me to.
why didn't you make that little box on the side into a chest for small stuff?
Zach Pygall that's what I was thinking too. In time maybe a hinge to open & close snap
Can you do a clear coat on top of the white...like a shellac....to help with the finger prints/dirt on the paint?
I have heard that works... but I haven't tried it in the van yet!
CIF to keep it clean and white.
Is this going to be removable when you need the space to move stuff with your van? OK got the answer to that, but if you put the unit on casters you can move it out and use a docking latch or clete on the wall of the van to keep it in place when you drive around.
What were your dimensions? ...if you remember, anyway
gloss paint is great it is washable
Use a satin finish oil based paint on the white areas. It'll be super tough and you can clean it with pretty much any cleaner like 409 or whatever.
Thanks for the video, reall helpful. Can you show how the unit is (securely) attached to the van?
How is the top part attached to the van side? Or have you only used L brackets on the floor and not attached the top?
Thanks for the videos. Great job. Where are you located?
What kind of screws (and size and length) did you use to bolt to the van wall? Did you secure part of the cabinet directly to the van ribs?
I don't remember off hand what length and size screws I used. They were self tapping screws so that I could anchor into the ribs of the van! Then I just used standard wood screws for anchoring to the floor. Hope that helps!
Looks great. Could you build me one for my van Ikea style for my van build?
How was the cabinet secured to the floor?
Question - Where will your surface be for working on your computer?
LiveLaughLove, EveryDay I plan to use the counter top for my laptop to sit on!
polyurethane over the white will be easy to wipe clean
2 x coats of Matt clear varnish 😁
Magic erasers work well
Will poliyorathan be helpful
Water based Polyurethane on top of the painted wood nakes it eady to wipe clean
How to keep white paint clean? Paint it Gray 🤔🤣
you need to lower the music in the timelapses, loving this videos
Hot
I love your videos but the music is so LOUD!
I like yur videos BUT I don’t learn much because you talk a lot about what you are gonna do but then you speed the film up and I never get to see how you do anything. I don’t even know what size ply you are using which is really like to know
If your interested in a real laminate countertop let me know i can get you a piece for free you can custom fit)
you never reply to any question....wow. not cool
I gave up on watching...I got tired of lowering the volume due to the horrible loud music then having to raise it up to hear you talk..I gave up..Maybe other videos don't have the stupid music...I'm here to see a van build video not a rock concert haha Oh but you do awesome work on vans!!
SORRY, NO MAS!!!! AUDIO IS TERRIBLE! GOODBYE!!!!
Worst music I've ever heard. Absolutely unlistenable.
👍👍👏👏👏👏
