When starting motor with this it is taking more current than normal star delta starter. Why it is so?

increasing the ramp-up time as well as setting a lower starting voltage can reduce the starting current. Also in this kind of soft starter, only 2 phases are controlled by SCR. So there is an asymmetry in starting current that may be the reason why you are getting high current than star-delta

Bro..I think you are right. Actually here we are using this NC control to actuate another relay so that if any overload failure occurs we will have a feedback signal in the control room.
