*This movie hits hard. It's impossible to not cry at the end of it, especially when they show the montage of pictures and videos of her as her song "Dreaming Of You" plays. Being Mexican-American myself, Selena was basically our Princess Diana. She was incredibly talented and supremely kind, But ultimately died young. She was only 23 at the time of her death.*
Very sad and hard to watch at the end for sure. Great movie though

Did you know that Jennifer Lopez actually became a singer after the Selena movie? She said she was inspired and given the courage to become a singer after because of Selena.

The film Selena, J.Lo gave herself, body and soul, which ended up nominating her for the Golden Globe award, and also ended up earning her more than a one million dollars!!!*

Those were Selena's vocals throughout the entire movie. Jennifer was lip syncing to it, that one scene where Jennifer missed the mic cue was because she wasn't a singer before the movie, she was a dancer, so at times Jennifer got lost in the moment and forgot to lip sync.
I can TOTALLY see that! Lol she was clearly young and just getting started when she got the role and I can see how her lip syncing would have been the best idea there especially in a film. You a bigger Selena fan or do you know all of this because your a JLo fan? I’ve got plenty more of her movies being reviewed soon 👌🏼
Love Selena and this movie! Funny story, my mom realized I could sing when she overheard me singing along to Selena 's songs. I don't speak Spanish and am the whitest of white, but was told that when I sang her songs I sang the lyrics perfectly to where one of my latina friends walked up to me, after I performed one of her songs at a school's talent show, and said "I didn't know you could speak Spanish." I was like "I don't." Much like how Selena didn't speak Spanish at first but learned how to sing in Spanish before she could speak it.
Selena was so talented and so young. Such a tragic story.

Selena loved collecting Fabergé eggs. Basically jeweled, blinged figurines of eggs. They have them on display at her museum. So the ring Yolanda gave her was a nod towards her egg collection and she actually got ger a ring with an egg. Now her response in this movie to the egg ring is beyond me, but sis loved her some Fabergé eggs. 🤣🤣🤣
Jennifer Lopez was mostly lip syncing to Selena at the request of Selena’s family. However she really was singing at the beginning of Como la Flor.
Omg love this movie it made me cry as a kid so many times. Selena's last English songs Dreaming of You and I Could Fall in Love are just so special. Love she could sing in English and Spanish with so much emotion
Yea and the fact selena had left at such a young age i was angry when I was younger and watched the movie I had no clue it was based on a true story but glad that her family decided to make a movie to where selena was introduced to many people around the world

When the EMT was cleaning the ambulance he found the ring Yolanda gave Selena.
At 30 years old when I say this movie breaks me down it breaks me down everytime I watch it on Selena’s anniversary March 31 like it’s really fucked up how Yolanda killed her for no reason. What y’all don’t know is that Selena’s husband Chris wrote a book:To Selena with love and describes the night before the murder and what happened that morning like Selena was too trusting.

I believe all the vocals in the film were from the real Selena, with Jlo lip syncing. Jlo actually became a singer because of Selena. I think they always intended to use Selena's real vocals regardless of who played the part, but Jlo really nailed the role. So many of her mannerisms and dance moves were perfect.

Looking back on this, the movie actually game yolanda too much dignity. I guess they didn't want to completely ruin that older woman's(her name escapes me at the moment) acting career by giving her a mono-lip and making her say the bullshit that yolanda actually said to the hostage negotiators.

I surely have watched the video multiple times to edit the video but thanks for the suggestion. All the respect to Selena of course it’s a film adaptation of her life but I talked about JLo because she’s the one doing the acting and I talked about beyonce because she’s been the next international superstar after. And honestly the movie was long as shit but most 90’s movies are unreasonably long so I can give on that as well but those we’re my opinions first watching it, we don’t all gotta agree. @@michaelmatthews2247 the reality surrounding films is that they are not always 100% accurate because there are things added and removed to make the story more watchable love, that’s just how movies work. Not saying that it wasn’t her real life, and if you feel like I was being snide that fine but I have nothing against the woman so I have no reason to be that way. If I watch the video back a 5th time I’m sure I’ll only mention beyonce mabey 3 times and that’s only as a reference to selena being the Latin version for her time. I don’t idolize anyone. Beyonce is a human just as Selena was. Both great entertainers and singers alike. It’s just a commentary sweetie it’s not to be taken that seriously

This movie made Jlo a star without Selena there would be no Jlo
She probably wouldn’t have been a big time actress or singer but she still danced background for Janet Jackson prior to this film and was a Fly Girl on In Living Color.
Girl, JLo cannot sing. They didn't pick her because she was a singer, hell, she wasn't even a singer yet when this movie was being filmed. They picked her because she was a good actor. And she did not even sing at all in this movie, that was Jlo lipsyncing to Selena's real voice. I know that you are attracted to Jlo but cmon, if you think she can sing, you don't know what real music is.
from all the backlash in the comments since posting this video I have learned that she was inspired to become a singer from playing Selena and that it was all lip syncing but I didn’t know. & my attraction to her is not why I think she’s a good singer, she can hold a note and carry a tune in my opinion, she’s definitely not the Beyonce or Whitney Houston of the vocal game but she’s got her own lane and Jenny from the Block has bops
especially when you consider that the voice most people associate with JLo (the choruses from her more popular songs) is actually Ashanti.

After this Jlo started singing etc 😄we were "Oh JLo lost it"😂 she is OK as a singer.
