#mcfarlanetoys #dcmultiverse
Sent to Earth from the dying planet of Krypton as a baby, Kal-El was found by farmers, Martha and Jonathan Kent, and raised as their son, Clark. As Clark grew up, the radiation from Earth's yellow sun gave him enhanced senses and extraordinary powers, including super-strength, superspeed, heat vision, X-ray vision, super-hearing, super-breath, and flight. Now, fully grown, he uses his powers to protect his adopted world as Superman.

6:45 What characters were the other two neck pegs sourced from?
This should have been a 20 dollar figure like the Superior Knightfall Bats. Nothing here justifies a 30 dollar Price Point.
He reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones đ
đThe running back number #61 (football)đHe Still looks to it!đ
Mixed with Sling Blade
I see the TLJ reference lol
I canât NOT see that now
I wish the "S" shield had been bigger, I think that would've looked better. I'm hoping that Todd will grace us with a nice Fleischer animation Superman with the red, yellow and black shield someday. The head makes me think of Captain Marvel's inspiration, Fred McMurray. And I agree 100% about the flight stands, I'm always disappointed to pick up a flying character to discover that it only comes with the black disc (though I guess it's nice to get a stand at all these days...), I wish the McF store would sell bundles of both the black discs and the flight stands..
I actually like the card holder. It would be nice if McFarlane sold these independently in bulk sets.
Be cool if they made trading card sleeves with their own designs to it. Kinda how they do the jokerized card holders. But definitely would be awesome if they sold the holders in bulk.
I donât even use mine, have them tossed in a box.
I just donât understand about Mcfarlane he also a comic book person so why canât he make accurate figure to the comic book
I like this, despite the inaccuracies, along with Alan Scott; however, $30 is too much for a standard McFarlane figure with nicer packaging.
6:45 source on those neck pegs? I have plans to make a custom "definitive" superman and would love that red peg
I am honestly very disappointed with this one. đ
When the first scoops leaked online I was excited for getting a Action Comics# 1 Superman, but this is a half baked project. there's no reason why this should cost more than a regular figure. McFarlane need to be a little more creative with the accessories, personally I don't even care about the cards so a card holder is really not interesting for me but we can all agree that is just cheap, it's something they already have molded so to charge extra for that is preposterous.
Now onto the figure itself I like the head, I think that's the best feature, it feels very classic, very golden age comics. But the big body and the very clear colors, and the un painted boots with the wrong design goes without saying, aren't accurate to that first Superman, if anything he seems much thinner and average person than the barrel chest from something like the Fleischer cartoon designs. And the colors in the comic look much darker with all that shading textures. Actually I think it could have been interesting if they had tried to reproduce those patterns for a more stylish, unique figure.
It doesn't help that they are also doing the other later golden age costume as a platinum edition , a.k.a. something you only can get by chance if you order this one. That's only going to benefit scalpers.
Regrettably it's all a complete blunder from McFarlane toys in my opinion.
I must say of these first few "'collector" figures, I'm the most excited for Alan Scott
Great video as always Brad!! I may hate this body mold for Superman but your videos make me happy!!â€â€â€â€
I love that they proudly display the card in the back of the box to show you how off model the figure is. Classic Todd move
you shouldve put your face on the guy running away for the thumbnail lol
I have this and I like it, especially for the colors. The skin tone, and the shade of blue are really nice on this figure. I like the squinty head sculpt a lot as it tells you exactly what time period it came from. McFarlane has to make Max Fleischer Superman next. This mold is screaming for that look. The Fleischer's Superman had squinty eyes just like that.
3:37 This is a neat concession for the chains lacking any posability.
What size was the neck peg for #3? I really like that one.
I like the chains and the head sculpt quite a bit, but I am unsure if I will go for it. Surprised to hear people mocked the head sculpt, given how good it looks. I do agree the longer peg you went with is an improvement, though.
Thanks for the review! Another I'll pass on since Todd couldn't be bothered to give an accurate representation
Hey Brad, you don't have to throw out the flight stands, I have tightened mine with clear rubber bands that come with other figures. Just wrap them around the joint and oila, all fixed and tight again,
Great review! Quick question Brad, do the skin tones match the Superman in the Ultraman set?
Gotta ask. Which figures did you pull the other neck pegs from?
Head would be perfect for a fleischer custom
What are some figures that have the medium length neck peg? Any resource out there for finding this info?
Hey Brad, sorry if this has been asked to death, but I was wondering what are the best double jointed arms I could swap onto the Action Comics 1000 Superman?
That repetitive mention of of the kryptonite accessory đ
Just got this as a gift, I really like it but plan to swap the feet with red ones to match the cover and Iâm really debating whether I addd some black shading lines around the figure
Donât toss those stands. A dab of superglue to the joints to hold it, does the trick. Sure itâs not moveable but thereâs only so many ways to pose some figures. Iâve glued them new from the package before.
Good tip!
That's cool. Wonder if they will make a Batman in this style.
I love the eagle at the end, what is that from?
Interesting he comes with a flight stand when so many Supermen donât even tho this version of Clark doesnât know he can fly yet
Hi that Superman figure at 6:00 minutes in the video. Where is that figure available to buy?
On my flight stands that got loose if you super glue them once they wear out in a fixed pose it is fine. I would hope McFarlane gives us more accessory packs. Would definitely sell.
There's rumors of a third weapons pack
The reuse is starting to bug me.
I'm waiting for the first appearance Batman and the first appearance Wonder Woman so I can make a Golden Age JLA.
5:51 where did you find this image?
Can someone please tell me the name of the soundtrack at the end of the video?
I hope they come out with Max Fleischer's animated 1940s version. I bought the blu ray remaster and it is so awesome for its time it came from.
i bought this figure but Amazon sended me the Platinum version. To be honest i ordered another one, because i like both versions.
I got this.....I'm kinda wondering if I should've got the green lantern
It is nice that McFarlane is making another vintage- style Superman figure. I am not sure if I will buy it.
The only thing I don't like are the boots and the vinyl cape
I Preordered my Action Comics #1 Supes on GameStop along with the Upcoming Superman Hush canât wait to get those in the mailđđ
I actually go to a store and I'm buying mines tomorrow
The new card holders remind me of the old mcfarlane movie maniacs poster stands
Just a note: the "repaint" is a Platinum Chase that you have a chance of getting when you order this figure.
Supes could've gotten Alan scott's boots
I like Superman because he was the 2nd DC character that I was introduced to but this figure looks cool but I don't think I need him because the figures that I will get is the Knightfall Batman, Duke Thomas The Signal, Target exclusive comic Flash, The Flash Age Garrick, Knightfall Catwoman and Three Jokers The Clown too.
WHat happened to your flight stands? Mine works fine still. lol
6:52 I like the overall head shape of #3, but it might sit too high on the body although, it would give this particular buck the height Superman should generally have.
Is there somewhere I can buy those neck pegs?
I hope dc McFarland will do a 1939 Batman first appearance
No sir, i dont like it - Mr. Horse.
I am slightly disappointed that there COllector Edition figures feels like the same as the regular release. It has a fancy card and stand but other than that not much more accessories or added value to justify the 10 dollar Cad price hike.
We're I'd the criminal and car figure lol
At this point it's the same Infect Body(even with a filled in cavity) we've seen time and time and time and time again. This is also part of the Collectors line and costs more.
Yet it's the same figure we've gotten time and time again. I don't think it executes the AC1-5 look well. It's doing the bare minimum.
They've done nothing to address the flaws of this body which was fine with the first Rebirth Superman. Not so much now.
In contrast the other two figures features a brand new body for a very new minor Bat villain and another that makes significant adjustments to look more like the character and a standard buck.
If it's not accurate enough then what's the point?
He looks like he just smoked a doobieđ
I like the idea of McFarlane doing a Collector Edition wave, but I feel like this is not the way to start. First, these figures could totally be sold for $21. The wave itself is just a money grab for figures that are the same quality (or lower) than his $21 figures. Next, I couldn't give a rat's ass about that stand that holds the card. Lose the stand, the black stand, the card, raise the price to $35, and FULLY paint the figure with a premium paint job, go for maximum sculpt detail, and include a million accessories. You know, something that'll make NECA piss themselves! Next, why these characters (besides Superman)? I would've done Golden Age Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to start the wave. Why Abyss? Such a new character is given this level of treatment? I didn't read Batman vs. Abyss. Is it the new Dark Knight Returns or Watchmen? At least Wave 2 is something to seriously look forward to. Maybe a new major JSA character with each wave?
Bet you'll be hunting down the platinum.
Where's the red boots?
Goddamnit this is such a great idea for a Superman figure but the execution sucks because of the body mold and accessoriesđđđđ
(And it sucks that Todd just keeps using this body mold as if it's THE DEFINITIVE SUPERMAN BODY MOLD ugh)
the figure just seems off to me, wheres his neck??
I like how much respect thw original Superman is getting. And I like the blue and red chosen. The only major drawback is that because ofvthe articulationhe looks like he's wearing modern superhero style body armor instead of the simplistic tights/leotard that he actually wore.
This figure coming with Kryptonite wouldn't make sense....kryptonite didnt make its first appearance till Superman #61 in 1949
RAD
"tell all your friends about me" sorry i'm not that type of nerd
NO red Boots??????
He doesn't have red boots in the book just the covor
To be honest, I truly believe the DC license is going nowhere with Todd at the helm
Lameeeeeeeee what a screw job for the fans :-(
great review, garbage product.
