If he is granted a pardon, then every prisoners in this country must also be granted a pardon as Najib’s crime is amongst the worst. Unfortunately, this looks like a done deal … I think his cash combining with the fact that the unity government is not that stable and must chose “the lesser evil” in what they must do and who they want to align with, make this inevitable. Great info Mariam - you are the best. However, you failed to list Point No. 11 - the role played by the Agong. The Pardons Board is chaired by the Agong who has the discretion to grant a pardon, and no one including the Pardons Board which may have provided the rationale not to pardon. However, the previous Agong do so at his own peril - all his good work during his reign for the past 5 years will go down the drain if he insists on doing Najib's family one last favor. Additionally, Najib still have a slew of IMBD-related court cases pending - if he can escape the current imprisonment, can he also do the same for the rest ?. The current Agong is vehemently against corrupt politicians and no way, he will agree to any pardon.

I've always believed that the main motivation for these people in becominmg a politician is to be able to become corrupt...because to earn your way to riches in a corporate setting is far more difficult and time consuming. Whereas being a good talker will get you further (as long as you are a good communicator), hence as a politician you never actually have to do the work - you just lead and give instructions to your minions, and as long as you are able to hold on to the power, likely nothing will happen to you.
Punishment for evil acts must be followed through. This will crush the people's confidence in the current administration, if it allows this to happen.

Jiran saya mencuri sedikit makanan dalam mini mart untuk anak-anaknya yang kelaparan, dia dihukum penjara 3 tahun kerana dia menafikan perbuatannya. Apakah keistimewaan najib ?? Najib pun menafikan perbuatannya mencuri wang rakyat untuk kerakusannya ??? Bukan lagi untuk kelaparan tapi untuk tamak ! Tak boleh terima hukuman dan baru genap 1 tahun hukuman dia, tak boleh tahan ???????
Mengapa bidang kuasa kita mengambil pilih kasih untuk orang yang sangat kaya dan popular dan tidak berat sebelah kepada orang miskin ??????????
